Default Favorite paper for making envelopes?

Just wondering if you have a favorite paper that you use when making your own envelope with the envelope punch board?

I'm starting to make longer cards (that fit into business sized envelopes). I'd like to also start making co-cordinating colored envelopes for these cards.

Any suggestions?

I have been steadily using up my stash of patterned 12x12 by doing this. I have found that you can use most anything, but you just need to be careful when you score the paper or you’ll go right through thinner paper. In some cases, I just used Washi Tape over the cut and it worked fine. You can attach a scrap piece of paper (or cardstock) inside the envelope if your card has gemstones or something that could rip through it.

I’ve also used SU card stock (again, using up my stash). It’s thick but that actually worked out really well for protecting the card within without needing to add any additional layers.

I don’t believe there is a wrong paper to use. If you have a really busy design that would make it difficult to see an address written on it, just use a white label. And I would recommend choosing an envelope slightly larger than your card; it makes it easier to get an embellished card in/out of the envelope.

I like to use old calendar pages. You can co-ordinate the month of the birthday with the picture. A mailing label added and it is ready to go!

I usually make white envelopes so I go for the cheap Paper Studio white cardstock- not the thick. I really used to like it but they have changed it and it seems thicker now.

"All that 12 x 12 scrapbook paper" I bought thinking it was cute. But not every page in the stack will be used....for anything! Use the not-so-cute side on the inside of the envelope and white side outside.
I also use calendar pages with the pretty side out and add a white label for the address. The better calendars have heavy enough pages for mailing; the cheap calendars make envelopes for handing out, not mailing.
