Jan, I actually found the mechanism part went quickly. It was decorating the card that took me a lot of time. Next, I am going to try a sentiment spinner card. I found instructions in the April issue of Cardmaking and papercraft magazine, that comes from the UK..

Oh have fun at the cottage! How is your arm doing?
Grumpy is gonna be very mad at me! I laid the carpet in the living room. I have been waiting months for him to come and help. But I am giving myself 3 days to do it so I don't over do it too much.
Now cat. There is something going on with her. We all know she is a grump! I went to trim her nails and noticed something that felt like a claw coming from the wrong part of her paw. She won't let me look any closer. I called the vet but they haven't called back. I will call again tomorrow. I hope it isn't too expensive.
My arm is doing o.k. All dried up and redness is fading, but if I am not paying attention, I still find myself scratching. Good thing I am really busy. Cooking/baking zucchini boats for the cottage. I just tried one and it is soooo gooood! Made a broccoli and cauliflower salad, and will bake a peach pie and pivck up sweet corn in the morning. We can't leave until after lunch as my sister-in-law volunteers at the hospital until then. The cottage is on Dorcas Bay, just south of Tobermory, which is a 3 1/2 hour drive.
Lynn, are you laying a wall to wall carpet? Won't you need someone to help you move your chair and sofa? Be careful of your back.

Enjoy your time at the cottage Ina. Lynn, whatever are you thinking? If you are laying wall to wall carpet you need a specialist so it sits properly. Now stop and save your back and body...just thinking of you. Hope your cat is ok.
I need more energy and more time in a day. Too many things on our list and not enough time or motivation to do them. One step at a time. Goodness knows when I will find time to craft. Happy weekend everyone

Good morning. It is Friday theb13th. Lynn will know what that means, here in Ontario. No, not any of that superstitious stuff.
It's a day for bikers (motorcyclists) to hit the road and gather in a little lakeside town called Port Dover. Thousands of them decend upon that town every Friday 13th, some even in the midst of winter. The bonus this time is that the weather is good, although it may rain this evening. The last one was July, 2018, and the next one will be in December. We will be travelling a main highway after lunch, so my driver/friend/sister-in-law will need to be extra vigilant.

Ina why do they gather in the town on this day? Keep safe.

I don't know why, but it is an event that has been going on since 1981. Just an organized way of getting together, I guess, and it has been supported by the town as a tourist attraction.

It sounds like the bikies here that do a ride up our freeway every December...ours though is a charity ride for the Children’s Hospital....I think. I’ve seen photos of some guys having huge teddy bears under their arms.

There are a ton of rides for people with motorcycles and some are charity rides.
Cat is OK. The pad at the rear of her paw started growing a corn that felt like a weird claw. Very glad it was a vet I know. Anyways.. Cat is 12 and this sometimes happens. Just keep an eye on it and trim it as if it was a nail.
I laid out the area rug in the living room. This is a rental so I got an area rug to fit the living room size. It keeps the dust down, keeps the floor warmer and cuts down on noise. I did not move the bookcases and TV unit.. I just laid the rug up to it. I have these skids that I can put under my sofa so it glides easier.
Lynn, it still sounds like a huge job! I hope you didn’t overdo it., glad cat is ok.
Ina , have a wonderful weekend!
Jayne , I hope you find time to craft. But , always people before paper! .
Jan, are enjoying being with your son and grandson?
Hi Kathy,
Have a good weekend everyone!

I have an area rug too. Every summer I roll it up and store it in plastic out in our shed. Then in the fall I bring it back in so our feet dont freeze! But my feet still freeze, which is why I'm always looking for a good pair or thermal socks! I'm going to sew the pink ones one more year because the only problem is a hole in the heels. I took them to retreat and the ladies giggled because I wore the bottoms on top because of the holes!
Lynn glad cat is ok and also glad that it was just a rug. I had visions of you trying to do too much and stuffing your back...and yourself..up.
Kathy..thermal socks in winter are a necessity...I can imagine you with your holey socks. That’s me..I don’t sew so would either throw them or turn them lol. The buttons fell off my cheap ugg boots and have stayed off..I’m so slack.
Definitely doing some today Sharon...after I’ve done the usual chores and some things hubby wants to do. I have a long list.
Enjoy ladies

I don't sew a lot, but the pink socks are so warm.
Morning, arrived ok, awful journey, M25 junction, this is ring road around London, closed so we had to detour and roadworks so took an hour to do a couple of miles, at midnight, then more roadworks, then a car going off the motorway changed his mind and pulled on to the road right in front of us, Steve had to brake hard to avoid him as a car was over taking us, how we missed him I will never know, in the end we arrive at 1am, shattered, we crept in as they were all in bed!
I was up at 7am to go with our son to be introduced to GSs teacher so I could collect him.
we collected him at 1pm and took him to Herne bay, it’s flat there, with his scooter, we walked quite a way to the ice cream parlour and sat on the side of the beach eating them, half an hour on the play park and then I had to pull jack along on his scooter all the way back to the car as he said he was tired, we decided to go to another play park with a sand pit so I was playing chasing for half an hour between the swings, slides etc, Steve craftily said he would stay in the car, I think the journey has taken it out of him.
We were in bed by 9pm and woke at 7.30am.
Our DIL is studying and son has taken GS to soft play so we are chilling as it’s all go when he is here, he likes me to chase him but as you all know here year olds can go on for hours!!
I think we will be going to the beach later to meet up with his other grandma as she is still here staying with DIL s sister.
Oh and they are having a Gota Fria at home, major flooding, people have died and just devastation so our neighbour has been in our villa to check all is well! Not really a good time to be away from home as Steve worried, I’m trying not to even think about it.
Jan, glad you are safe! I had to look up Gota Fria. I hope everything is ok there. What a deal! I read this to DH. With the trouble driving and weather back home, DH says that is why he isn’t crazy about traveling anymore. We really don’t like the stress of flying either. Glad we traveled while we were young. LOL. Now , we may be done! LOL
OK that sounds crazy! I heard about the water just pouring down the streets and was worried it was near you!
I am being good! Yes hard to believe! The weather has been weird and I am just not sleeping right so everything is still everywhere!
Kathy.. Is there a knitting shop in your town? They used to have soles that you could sew in to home made slippers. I used to do it for grumpy all the time. Does that mean you already went away for the girls weekend? How was it?
Hope Ina is having a good time. The weather is just so strange!
Jan I am so glad that you arrived safely. I know what the M25 can be like and oh my...that car cutting in front of you. So glad you are ok. And the Gota Fria...I also had to google it. It reminds me of the floods we have over East here. Glad your villa is ok but what devastation in some parts of Spain. Enjoy the time with your son and family and tell Steve he can chill now...phew.
Lynn, you asked me about the fires and I forgot to reply..sorry. They have been terrible and a few people have lost their homes. Apparently they are saying some teenagers deliberately lit the fire. Can you imagine.....whatever goes on in some kids minds I really don’t know if this is true. We do find a lot of bush fires are deliberately lit. It’s been so dry over East and the farmers are doing it tough in Qld and NSW...I cannot imagine what this has done to them. Shocking.
Here the weather is mild...for now. The snakes have started to come out and the spring flowers. In a couple of months it will be warming up and I will be wishing it were cooler. I love this time of year and some warmth. Our winter has seemed so long this year and very wet and cold...to our standards.
Hope everyone else is going ok. Have a great day and week. Hugs

I can't wear those with rubber dots. They hurt my feet. My body is weird.Yes. Ladies retreat was last weekend. I took my black mask and wore it because it really fits nice and keeps the light out out. The other ladies were envious because their masks weren't as soft and comfortable! So you were with me on retreat on my feet and face! It was perfect weather and a fun weekend.
Jayne you mentioned fires started deliberately, there were forest fires I think last year in Spain and that was started the same.
Steve says the rain has moved north from our place, for now, we saw some videos of cars submerged on the motorway under a bridge, that is 45 minutes from our place.
Our ramble is full and flooding all the beaches, in some ways we wish we were at home to make sure our villa is safe but our neighbour is keeping an eye on it and he has our keys and would fix anything for us. Steve has to email the pool man to check the water level as we dont want it over flowing into the garden and flooding it!!
Luckily these only happen every few years, we’ve seen three in eighteen years.
Looks like we all checked google for the Gota Fria. So sorry this happened while you are away. It's always a concern, because you can't do anything to protect or fix whatever needs it. These storms that used to be called 'hundred year' storms, now come every 10 years or even more frequently.
As Lynn says, the weather here is also unsettled. Had a couple of really warm days last week, and then it turned rainy on Friday, just in time for our trip. Quite a bit cooler too. But it has forced us to seek activities other than swimming and relaxing on the beach. Yesterday we 'experienced' the powerful wind and waves. Absolutely mind blowing. We were 10 feet away from Grace and she was standing with her back to us, singing 'How great Thou art' and we could not hear her. Well, I see pink in the sky, so gotta get out and take sunrise photos.

HI ladies
Letting you know I'm still alive. I just can't seem to stop the merry go round I've been on since February. So dizzy here I'm surprised vertigo hasn't set in.
I'm supposed to be working at the moment but will try to check back this week. My week already has a wrench in the cogs and it's not even Monday yet!

Great to see you Kelly, my first day taking GS to Daycare, he was quite happy to go with me on his own, he took his little scooter but the trouble is it’s down hill most of the way so I was running to keep up and holding the back of his jacket!
Just had a message from DIL in SF, she is in Adelaide at the moment with work, she had pain in her leg so saw the doctor and she has a DVT, she’s having heparin injections so that she can fly home to tomorrow, we are so worried about her, she does fly so much with work, she says it’s a big clot as they given her the scans to take home.
Gosh Jan, I hope that your DIL is ok. The injections are supposed to be marvellous but make sure she is checked again before she flies home.
I have a blood clotting disorder and have to take so many precautions when flying..it’s scary. Son1 flies to and from work every 4 weeks for hours and then over the weekend flew to Houston for training again and he gets back in a week and then the day after he gets home he has to fly to work again. I so worry about him as I imagine he just sleeps on the fights and doesn’t move.
Enjoy the time with your DGS..they keep you on your toes don’t they? I know that feeling lol.
Sharon, I did manage to do some craft...I started my samples for Thursday and must finish them over the next couple of days. I wasn’t well for a few days and didn’t have the energy to do much else. I spent today sorting out birthday cards and die cutting, etc...and now that is done I can get back to scrapping and making more cards lol.
Happy day everyone

Jayne, they seem to be looking after her and she sounds upbeat, she’s a scientist in cancer research, well she runs all the labs now she’s a director but she has a lot of knowledge of different diseases and drugs because of her work, when Steve had his heart op she asked people at work and friends who were doctors so she could advise us both on meds etc. I must admit we are really worried about her as she’s like a daughter to us.
Glad she’s going ok and on top of it...she would know what to do with her line of work. I think it’s those of us who aren’t in the know that get into trouble. I watched my mum pass away with a pulmonary embolism...she had a clot that went to her lungs....it was very quick...and why I had the test.
Happy day

Jayne she’s very clued up with these things, thank goodness, our sons friend went to live in Thailand and within hours of a flight he had a stroke, he was only late twenties too, he’s now mid forties and although he is now fit in body his speech is still impaired.
It took him years before he could get back to work and he had a young family too, luckily his brother had moved to Florida with his parents and worked for his dad so he went over for the first six months to help out.
Sorry to hear about your daughter-in-law Jan, but glad she is doing o.k. and hope that the clot will dissolve safely.
I had a fabulous weekend away. Rain Friday, High winds on Saturday, and Sunday morning started outbwith a drizzle, but it cleared up by 11 and we got out kayaking, swimming (brrr!) and enjoying the beach with drinks and fun and foolishness.
