Best way to glue on metal charms and buttons?

Hot glue? Glossy Accents? Something else?

Have not worked with metal embellishments before. Other than brads, which are self attaching.

I use Judikins' Diamond Glaze, which is Glossy Accents at a lower price. I buy a big bottle to save a lot. I've had my current big bottle for more than three or four years because I only need a little at a time.

I have quite a lot of Glossy Accents sitting around. Maybe I'll finally be able to use it up.

Anyone use a glue gun? I have been looking for an excuse to buy one.

I do. I bought a Bosch cordless glue pen from Japan and love it. Another SCS member enabled me!

Depending on the size of what I'm gluing, Ranger's multi matte/Glossy Accents etc or a glue gun. They are definitely useful to have, surprisingly good for buttons, ribbon bows and wonderful for rolled felt roses and suchlike. I'd say you would definitely find uses for one. I've recently been introduced to the Best Glue Ever, and it claims to bond "almost anything including paper plastic metal wood glass fabric foam and more!" I've only used it on paper and ribbon so far, so I don't have a testimonial, but you can view the product information and intro/video at the Scraperfect site.

If I buy a glue gun, what should I buy? High heat, low heat, is a mini size enough? I have no experience with them. There seem to be some differences between them.

I have a regular, small glue gun (high temp) that I use for larger surfaces. Although my glue gun is small, l woudn't trust myself using it on small embellishments for card making. I'd end up adding a finger or two to the design.

I have several glue guns in different styles. If you get the right glue it seems anything will stick. I have some heavy duty glue that works great even in extreme outdoor temperatures. You can purchase small finger shields used for ironing to protect your fingers. If you only plan to use it for making cards a mini glue gun will probably fit your needs. Otherwise, I would suggest looking for a regular size gun with nozzles in different sizes that would allow you to glue any size item.

You could use mini glue dots, too, for adding metal embellishments, adjusting the size of glue dot to the size and weight of the embellishment. I personally don't like using a glue gun on paper, but that's just personal preference. I know folks who do, and do it successfully and well.

I own the Surebonder Mini Detailed Glue Gun and really like it. It has a very small nozzle and is very good to use for detailed work when attaching small items to cardstock. It was highly recommended on someone's blog several years ago, and I have not regretted the purchase. Here is a link:

When I need just a small amount from my glue gun, I snip off a piece of glue stick and use my embossing heat gun to melt it. I use a chopstick or skewer to hold the piece in place until it melts.

I like Gel Medium (I have Golden)...I've used it on many Mixed media projects (non cards although it will work on cards, too) and whatever I've glued stays stuck....buttons, heavier embellishments, chipboard, etc...

Yes, I have Golden in all three weights. I've always used as a paper glue or collage medium. Never thought of it for embellishments. Hmmm.
