Nah --- I wouldn't count the popcorn and chocolate ..... Kids are enough I know! One made me fat!!! My ex's birthday was on April Fool's Day and mine is on Thanksgiving -- I guess I got the fool and he got the turkey!!! How screwed up is that??

I am checking in on this thread- fun to award prizes in this manner and make it fun for all to join in!
I am working on some Kindness cards today- we have a Cancer Center and a Ronald McDonald House at the Hospital I work at, so have 2 great places to send my cards to!
I am such a dope!! I read the question totally wrong.........I put in the number I thought had viewed the cards for HYCCT, not the comments. That'll teach me to not read all the way to the end!!! That kitten is so adorable. *sniff* I want another kitty, but DH says no more (we had to put our Max down........DH was so upset. He says he can't go through that again).

I had banana and homemade granola cereal this morning and it did not satisfy me at all...I'm already scrounging for something to eat and it has only been 2 hours...
Not a good day ahead unless I change my attitude...
I have been making my own granola for more than 30 years now, and it's still a favorite!

I am a popcorn freak, and have had a bag of microwave popcorn for dinner myself many times. I like to top it off with a piece of chocolate. How awful is that? (Yummy but awful). I am 5'6" tall and weigh 140 lbs, and at 71 years of age, I am tummy heavy. Can I blame it on 3 kids, 2 sections and a hystero? Or do I have to take the popcorn and chocolate into account?????
Ann, your weight sounds right for your age & height. Now what you need to work on is some crunches to target/tighten that tummy of yours. Oh, and go easy on the popcorn with chocolate~ ;)

I went to Walmart this morning and then came home and baked pumpkin cookies with penuche frosting. Made them for DH however....some have turned up missing already! Did I mention that they are fabulous? The recipe is in Novembers issue of taste of home, page 49. I used walnuts instead of pecans.
Taste of Home is my Favorite! I've been using their recipes for Years now. My son bought me a subscription for Christmas back 21 years ago, and that's how it started....

My DH says we are allowed 1 pet for each member of the family. Currently we have 2 kitties who are my world and a geko. We have found a home to take the geko at Thanksgiving...guess what I am getting when we get home...
Give up??? If you guessed KITTEN, you win a big SMILE!!! Giggles!

Roberta, crunches are out, unless they are made by Nestles! YOu girls are making me so hungry!! Those cookies with the frosting sound fab!! Lisa, I am so jealous. I would even take the gecko!! (can I trade you my 93 yr. old Mom for it?) Just kidding. If Mom reads this, I am in BIG trouble!! LOL!

I won't post my weight but I can't blame mine on 3 kids, 2 sections and hystero (though I've all) since I went from a girls plus 14 to an adult 14 in the summer between 6th and 7th grade...and as a senior in high school I wanted to join the Army but couldn't get my weight down to the necessary requirement...now I say that wasn't a bad thing!
My husband has a saying that his weight problem is his mother's fault...if she hadn't fed him as an infant he would never have become addicted to food! :p
I recommend a book called The End of Overeating by David Kessler -- explains why we can't maintain a "diet" and has ideas for what to do instead. Excellent book.
I'd recommend The Mayo Diet Book...basically...Eat Less, Walk More...
Will see if our library has Kessler's book, always willing to learn...
I've been cooking all day but nothing gor supper except some roasted veggies. I cooked 3 pie pumpkins today, made puree with them and roasted the seeds. I also made some crostini and pita crisps for appetizers at thanksgiving. I've got vegetable stock simmering with all the "leftovers" from my veggies and from some last of the garden harvesting. Will cook some collard and turnip greens later and will have kale and swiss chard tomorrow. I still have herbs to cut and dry and arugula and fennel still gping strong. It has been a mild Fall but we have snow presicted this weekend so I'm trying to clean up the garden and make the most of what's left.

The point is "eat less walk more" is not a one-size-fits-all solution for everybody. Hope you like the Kessler book he used to run the FDA and it's full of good science.
I'm going to my SU! card club tonight. Our November meeting is a potluck. Instead of bringing a handmade greeting card to exchange, we swap 6 x 6 decorated recipe cards with the recipe of what we brought to the potluck. Always fun and delicious!
That sounds like fun Diane! My card class is Saturday and were bringing toys to play with! I will use my desk stuff and she can use mine. I'm making more cookies on Friday to take. Hope they turn out as delicious as the ones I made today.
WOW some fun chatting is going on here... I did some Christmas cards today that I want to send overseas for missionaries and families, hang out with my toddler girl and cooked dinner.
Now just checking in this thread And hopefully will have some restful evening with my family.

Just popping in quickly to say hello before heading out to teach a card class on the army base. I answered the question twice because I didn't read it right the first time and thought it was comments on 1 card. Oops! Have a great evening all! I will be able to spend more time with you on Friday when I have the day off.

You all are making me hungry reading all these posts.
Me, too, Tracie! Kathy's pumpkin cookies sound delish! I know I have a stash of mini chocolate bars from the last weekend's crop...going to open up that bag and get my chocolate fix!
Have you ever cooked beef tongue? It makes really good shredded beef tacos too. That squash soup sounds yummy. I do one with butternut and apples too and another with acorn squash and kale. I make soup at least once or twice a week in the fall. So good!
Gail- I have never cooked beef tongue. You will have to send me your recipe. I do a lot of soups in the fall and winter also and I love trying new recipes. I get the Food Network magazine-there is always great recipes in there.
Late to the party ladies. I completely forgot this thread started on Monday  Going to DD #2 for Thanksgiving. I only need to bring pumpkin pies and squash & corn from my garden that I froze. It's nice to have someone else cook for a change. The only bad thing about that, is no leftovers :-(
Check in later, DH & I are going in the Hot Tub!!! Oh I can feel my bones warming up already :-)

Kramomma.... same here, won't post mine, I can blame 3 kids and a hystero and a cheating husband for several years. I also went from a girls 10- adult 14 summer between 7th and 8th grade. UGH...
I don't expect to ever be "normal" but I am working toward leaving the "obese" category...and only being "overweight"...eating less and walking more is what keeps me going at this point...I do not like to sweat or exercise...just trying to figure out the emotional eating...
If I ate because I was hungry I would seldom ever eat...
Mary here's the tacos de lengua recipe. If you can get past the fact that it's a tongue it tastes really good! Once you pull the outside part off of it the meat shreds and looks like roast beef.
My weight is the highest ever (except for pregnancy). Getting older is making it harder and harder to lose weight. The old strategies don't cut it any more and I certainly can't afford to gain more over the winter as I often do. My exercise routine is walking, but winter in Indiana makes that impossible so I have had to re-lose the same weight every year. I'm determined to do better over this winter!
So you and your hubby have a cat each. And Cat A has a gecko. And Cat B gets a kitten...what do the gecko and the kitten get???
Sounds like there's room for more kitties.
My little guy and I have a cat and then we have a rescue gecko. Our neighbor moved to Texas and they were going to leave it on the curb in October and it would have died that night in the cold. So we took it in and have had it a year. My aunt is a teacher in NY and she wants it for her class room. So when we get home we will have 3 people and 2 pets so I can get a new kitty. Giggles.
Oh and if DH sees this he will say no new kitty but I will refer him back to his rule one per per family member. We actually have a house that has 4 bedrooms, 4 stories and big enough for about 10 cats but then I would be a crazy cat lady as if I am not already. Giggles!!!
