Default How often do you use "bling" and texture?

1. Rhinestones

2. Pearls

3. Stickles

4. Texture (as in embossing folders)

Me?

Rhinestones-almost always
Pearls-at times
Stickles-when I'm not using the other two
Texture-99% of the time...cards seems "nekked" without embossing to me.

I use:
Bling often but I use the flat type jewels like "Dazzles"
Then glitter and/or stickles occasionally.
With Embossing dragging up at the end.
Pearls hardly ever.

Rhinestones - sometimes
Pearls - sometimes
Stickles - once in a great while
Texture - almost all the time

Ok, if you lumped rhinestones, pearls and brads into one category, then probably most of the time. But it's probably pretty evenly divided between them. Stickles I always seem to smear by touching it too soon; but I do use actual glitter more often.

And embossing folders - somehow my cards seem naked without it. However, last night I whipped up a thank you card for my son to use, and it had almost none of the above on it - just a couple of understated scored lines from my Scor Pal, and it was perfect.

1. Rhinestones - most of the time

2. Pearls -not very often (but I have them in every colour just in case )

3. Stickles - most of the time

4. Texture (as in embossing folders) - probably 50% of the time. I used to use efs on virtually every card a few years ago but now I don't for some reason (?). I probably use them more on Christmas cards now. Guess my style has changed but I didn't really notice until you asked the question!

I joke that I am like a magpie, I like sparkly things I nearly always have rhinestones or pearls. And usually there is texture somewhere. Cards just look naked and bare with out them!

I use at least 1 and usually 2 of these on all my cards depending on what type of card I am making. When I finish a card and it looks a little plain and needing something - I grab the stickles!!

My answer to all of it is: not nearly enough! I can't really contribute anything vital to the conversation, but I REALLY wanted to thank the OP for posing the question, because it sent my train of thought off on a worthwhile track. Back when I thought I was going to scrapbook (yeah, right) I bought a softcover book called "Fine to Fabulous" or something like that, that was all about kicking up things a notch by adding a little something here or there on a layout. This thread made me remember that book and how there is the CAS version of things and the "More is More" version. I think that I'm somewhere in between, but I NOW plan to make an effort to: a) remember that I have pearls and rhinestones and Stickles and embossing folders - and brads and eyelets and buttons and ribbons - and, b) look at my cards before they're fully assembled and see what I can add to bump them from "fine" to "fabulous". Thanks so much!

1. Rhinestones - Lots! I try to find a place for a few of them on almost every card. I bought a giant tub of multi colored stones at Hobby Lobby several years ago, so I will never run out! I use a tiny dot of Mono Multi to adhere them.

2. Pearls - Not very often. I usually put them on baby cards. Also sometimes on sympathy cards.

3. Stickles - Love, love my stickles. I use Stardust stickles a lot. It takes on the color of anything you apply it to.

4. Texture (as in embossing folders) - Quite a bit. I use the D'Vine Swirls and Swiss dots folders the most of all. I also like the CB word folder for Happy Birthday and the one that has Thank you embossed in lots of languages.

Rhinestones and enamel gems - all the time.
Pearls - nearly as often, depends on the card.
Stickles not so much but I do like glitter so nearly always some form of glitter or other, stickles, glitter pen, wink of stella
Texture - my main texture is usually that I heat emboss my inking. Not so often use embossing folders though I have plenty.

1. Rhinestones - occasionally, but pretty rarely

2. Pearls more than rhinestones - quite a lot if you count Liquid Pearls which I love!

3. Stickles - quite a lot, certainly more than I used to.

4. Texture (as in embossing folders) - regularly, but I'd say on less than half my output. My three favourite folders stay at the front of my box to be easy to find - Swiss Dots, Textile Texture and D'vine Swirl.

Fun question, as Sue said, it made me think.

Rhinestones and pearls, quite often, along with embossing.

Rarely use stickles but have quite a few so should use them more!

Rhinestones, rarely; pearls, more often; enamel dots seem to be getting the most use lately. I have quite a few Stickles which I rarely use as I'm too impatient for the drying time. Embossing folders are probably used on at least 50% of my cards.

1-Rhinestones: Not very often, except for holidays, weddings special occasions
2-Pearls: More than rhinestones, especially if you count Liquid Pearls. Gives that little extra elegant look
3-Stickles: Mostly for those cards that need extra sparkle---Christmas and July 4
4-Texture: Nearly every card in some way---heat embossing, embossing folders, scoring, actual textured paper, paint, paste, etc
Great post! Fun to see what others do or don't do.

I am a huge "BLING" lover. I use all of the above mentioned and then some. Obviously not all on the same card. If I'm using pearls on a card I don't use rhinestones too, but every single one of my cards have some sort of BLING and Texture. I tried a plain flat card and sat back and thought "Wow it looks like my 3yr old grandson did this!" LOL

Forgot to mention I still drag out the embossing heat tool and embossing powders.
Does piercing count as some sort of embellishment?

1. Rhinestones - very often
2. Pearls - occasionally
3. Stickles - Rarely (hate the dry time) use Wink of Stella and Glitter with Heat & Stick
4. Texture - always (embossing folders-yes, but mostly dies....seems I rarely make a card anymore without a die cut of some sort on it)

I use embossing folders the most often.
Pearls frequently
Rhinestones rarely
Brads sometimes
Stickles-never. Bottles too hard to squeeze.
I like embossing powders and pastes, ribbon, and glossy accent the most.
A bit of glitter hides some coloring mistakes so that's a go to for me.
Pop dots and frames although not bling are my favorite to add WOW to a card.

1. Rhinestones YES

2. Pearls YES

3. Stickles YES Glitter too

4. Texture Embossing Folders and Dies

All 5 of these are pretty much what I use on cards. Oh, I do use brads too and Ribbon.

Mostly these are the embellishments that can go on cards that usually don't add extra postage to mailing it.

1. Rhinestones: A lot. I just stocked up on clear and black. I like to color the clear with my Copics to make them any color I want!

2. Pearls: Same as above. I love pearls.

3. Stickles: I used to use them all the time. I'm off the kick of using them for a bit, but I'll come back to them. I love that they don't add thickness/bulk when mailing a card.

4. Texture (as in embossing folders): Not as much as I should based on the amount of the folders I collected over the years. (Hangs head in shame...)

I used to use pearls or rhinestones on nearly every project. Now I seem to gravitate to texture in many forms or sequins. Someone listed that she had no texture/embossing folders but there is so much more to texture. Even adding foam dots, which I consider a basic, counts. In that case, I use texture on almost every card. Anything you add that isn't flat adds some texture. Even adding ribbon, though usually flat, adds texture. Torn or distressed edges, any dimensional embellishment, embossing: heat or dry; it all adds texture! I personally am a big fan of using stencils which can be used to add texture by embossing them or using a paste but they also add visual texture when you sponge with them. Especially if you deliberately sponge so you get more Colour at the edges. Remember texture can be visual as well as tactile. Some one layer cards with clever sponging to make it look like more than one layer adds texture even tho the card is flat.

Does piercing count as some sort of embellishment?
I still love to heat emboss too!

Rhinestones, mostly all the time

Pearls, when rhinestones don't "go" with the color scheme

Stickles, stopped using them, don't know why, guess I'm too impatient to let them dry. But I do use loose glitters more, my floors "sparkle"

Texture, embossing folders, I use them a lot, I also use lots of dies that really "pop" when you emboss them after cutting. LOVE texture!

Rhinestones - Occasionally
Pearls - Occasionally - I am far more likely to use enamel dots or sequins
Stickles - Never - I use Wink of Stella for some shimmer. I got rid of all my Stickles
Texture - Occasionally - I got rid of most of my embossing folders. I am more likely to use stencils.

This thread inspired me...when I sat down to make get well cards yesterday, I tried to use as many of the items listed as possible. Here's a link to the card I made in the SCS gallery: Get Whale Soon by PedalPower - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers . I used Stickles, embossing folders, gemstones and Liquid Pearls. Thanks so much for providing inspiration to me!

Rhinestones - sometimes
Pearls - sometimes
Stickles - occasionally (I mostly use glitter pens)
Embossing Folders - often (I have tons)

This thread has also inspired me to use more bling. I am more of a CAS person, although I am big time into layers. I really want to start using more glitter and bling. I haven't been able to pull it off the way that I see others do it. For some reason, I just can't seem to get it right. I wish there was a tut about how to make a card with lots of bling and texture. Yesterday, I made a card and then decided at the last minute that it needed something else and I added 3 different sized black pearls. I was so proud of myself! I am going to put it in the gallery.
