Glad that you are pretty much safe in the storm. I've seen on TV what it's like in Boston and heard on the radio news how bad it was along the coast in Mass and Connecticut. So glad I'm not there.

I had another new kitty show up on my patio. It's hard to tell how old, but maybe less than a year. It's all black and seems kind of friendly. I'm not sure, but it could be in the family way. :( I need to figure that out quick and do something about it.

LOL on the Twinkies, Lynn! That's probsbly how my kids would be if you showed up with a box of Krispy Kreme though - LOL.

I'm back to the school today to help out - my son's teacher is out and having gall bladder surgery today. We're taking turns working with them on their huge gifted program to presented to States in February and they are a mess. No where near ready.

Time to scoot - stay safe out there!
Sorry about the sickies in your house and I sure hope the doctor can give DD some different meds that won't make her sick. Bad when the cure is worse than the disease.

Sweet of you moms to help out the teacher while she's sick. How long will she be out and do you go every day or do mom's take turns.

Friends: I have a question. What white CS do you use for coloring images? I have used Conqueror Diamond White for a few years, am out and have discovered that it is discontinued. : I need to order something else.

Thanks for any tips!
Since I use Copics most of the time, I use the Copic c/s - Xpress It Blending Card. It's a little pricey, but I love using it. I hate when they discontinue a product that I love and use all the time. I've used Neenah in the past and I think I still have a little bit of it.

Weird, it won't let me show the quote of Barb's here. I clicked on Quote, but it gave me a blank.

Barb, do use the Recollections for Copic coloring? Just would like to know how that works with them?

I'm not crazy about the colored card stock (Recollections) from Michae's as it's so light - but love the white heavy stuff!
I've never been very crazy about Michael's cardstock. It is pretty flimsey and bleeds through.

I've tried using PTI and GinaK cardstock. The 80# is pretty good. The 120# is too heavy for coloring, but good to use for a base card.

Glad that you got some much needed rain. I know how that goes. I'm looking forward to spring and having a landscaper come and figure out my flower beds.

I've got an ENT Appt. this afternoon and will be leaving early. I'm hoping that we can get this whole sore throat business sorted out and dealt with. I talked to my primary doctor this morning. He called to talk to his brother (my boss) and I told him what had been going on since last I saw him. He thinks it could be reflux also. It's funny though because he says don't consume caffeine, or alcohol, fried foods. I don't do any of those things. Not sure why I have it if that's what it is, but I just hope the treatment will get rid of this sore throat. It's been a month now!

I've been trying to work on cards, but I haven't been feeling very energetic when I get home at night. Last night I took some time to finish reading a book - The Silent Governess. If you like Jane Austen, you will probably like this one. I really enjoyed it and had some intrigue and twists and turns in it.

I'm now on to reading Book of Lies.

Oh Maggie, I sure hope that they can get your sore throat figured out. That's way too long to be so uncomfortable.

Thanks for the CS recommendations, ladies! This is great info to have.

I do use it for coloring. I too have used some of the Copic brand snd love it. I think Recollections is quite good. I have also used PTI as well as Gina K, but you cannot beat the price of this. Try a pack and see. If you do not like it, you can always use for layering. I think if Kelly and Jeanette like it too, it must be OK as they are big coloring ladies.

Well, now he thinks it is reflux and gave me a prescription for Prilosec (generic). He wants me to take it for a month and if it's not better then I need to see a different specialist. I asked the pharmacist when I picked up the scrip about something for my sore throat and he didn't really have any other suggestions except Chloroseptic spray. I bought some but about gagged and coughed my head off when it hit the back of my throat. I really hope these meds work fast.

Thanks for the info Barb. Next time I visit Michael's I'll pick up some. Just got a coupon flyer in the mail today.

Default Hello!

Hello ladies!

I am back- Monday- avoided the ice storm that came thru Mon PM- Yeah! Parents and I had a pleasant visit- not sure how much longer they are going to be able to live in the house without help..... Mom is still having forgetfulness- it is so sad! We went thru lots of old pictures- love history and was able to enlarge some enough for Dad to see them and tell me who was in them.

I have been running like a maniac- and cannot type well enough on the phone to come here to chat or go to many blogs- so Sorry and will catch up on blogs in the next couple of days.

Barb- sounds like you made the best of your trip despite the weather. Only NFL stadium I have been to is the Bears.....

Lynn- Oh geepers- sorry to hear about Rambo- must hurt the poor poochie! You were busy stamping- I love those days where you hit the ink and get 'er done!

Maxine- Ohhhhh sounds hot there- and that sounds great to me.... How does the garden like the heat? Are your flowers in bloom? So sorry about Jordan- will keep him in prayers!

Kristie- hope you got the day off- did you get lots of snow??? Did you loose power or heat- hope not!

Jeanette- you are on the road- glad you are enjoying all of the traveling! How cold does it get for your daughter in Alaska?

Maggie- awww- so if the cat is pregnant- what do you do with it??? Hope you are feeling better- so you are not stuffy at all- sounds like Post Nasal Drip. I had reflux until I got the sinus issues under control- no meds for me now for that, and only have issues if I eat too much.....

Oh Dear Kelly- your poor daughter- I will keep her in prayers- especially that the meds can get regulated quickly. Hope the family all feels better ASAP..... No twinkies or Krispie Kremes in the house here- in fact- the Krispie Kream stores have all closed- they were so yummy warm right off the conveyer belt too!

Darlene- I use Walmart Georgia Pacific and Copic express, and if I do not want the ink to leak thru (CAS cards) I use the Gina K #120, I also have Cryogen White as well- beautiful! Paper Temptress has Cryogen white.... it has a shimmer to it and is a tiny bit off white- not pure white.
Bet the snow is beautiful- not to get out in it though, but to look at it. My brother lives North Boston- I know he has posted on FB, so at least he has power......

Off to bed- running alot tomorrow as well. Lots to get accomplished this week!
Shelly

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

I've been MIA a few days - my computer didn't like SCS - wouldn't let me on - now I'm in a time crunch as I leave home again tomorrow... but I wanted to stop in and say "Hey!"

Read the thread - (yes, that rhymes!) - and caught up.... you have been a bit chatty! ;)

Just two things - yes, I do use/love the Recollections HEAVY white cardstock... it colors beautifully with Copics. And I also LOVE the Recollections HEAVY black cardstock. Just sayin! ;)

Shelly, my DD's temps last week were 20 below zero with a wind chill much MUCH colder than that. Brrrrrrrrrrr!!! (I'm going to see her in March - hoping for warm enough temperatures. I didn't want to wait until April because the Northern Lights are most noticeable through March......... and I'm really REALLY hoping to see the Northern Lights.

Hugs for all!!!

Welcome home Shelly. Sorry about your parents. It is a hard time when they start losing some of their cognitive skills. What kind of help do you think they need? Housekeeper, cook, driver? Do you know someone in the area you can ask about that? It's good that you took the time to look through some photographs and determine who people are. I hope you marked them in some way so you wouldn't forget who they were.

We used to have a bunch of Krispy Kreme stores here too, but I heard they had some kind of dispute with another company and they had to close all their stores. They still had a couple stores here under the Lone Star name, but they are all closing in March of this year. We were still able to purchase KK donuts at Kroger grocery stores, but that's not the same as getting them hot and fresh right from the KK store.

Well, if the kitty is preggers and not too far along, we would abort them. If she's too far along, then she'll have them and hopefully I'd be able to find them homes. She seems to have settled right into living on the patio and the other kitties that usually stay out there like her well enough.

I always thought that the "frog" in my throat was post nasal drip also from my sinues, but I've been rinsing my sinuses and they are clear and that is also another sign of reflux, so another symptom that points to reflux.

I also have some of that Cryogen White sparkly paper. I like using it for snowflakes. It is a little off white, so sometimes doesn't look good if I'm using bright white on the card.

I went out for dinner tonight with the Single Chicks. There were 6 of us. Started out with 3 and then one lady that used to come but hadn't in awhile showed up so it was good to see her. Then a little bit later another lady showed up and then a little bit after that No. 6 showed up. Mostly we were all crowded around this little table for 4, but then a couple that was next to bus left and the waiter cleaned off that table and brought it over to ours so we had more room. It was a Japanese restaurant and the food was not only fabulous but they gave us so much of it. Soup and salad came with the meal and then there was the entree with shredded cabbage and carrots, rice, and a plate of vegetables. I brought enough home to have 2 more meals and I was full when I left the restaurant. A place I'd love to go back to again. Not sure if it was all the food I was eating, but my throat right now is killing me. Just took my supplements and a Tylenol, so I hope that helps.

Boss will be gone out of town tomorrow so it will be an easy day. I have plans to go with a friend (one of the Single Chicks) to a HS play tomorrow night and she wants to go do something Saturday also, so it may be a busy weekend for me. Besides that I have a hair appointment Saturday morning and then one of the other Single Chicks and I are going to drive out to the Bishops' Storehouse. They are having an open house and showing off how they have remodeled it and what is available for purchase out there now for food storage.

Shelly, thought I'd let you know. I checked out that black kitty. It's got a clipped left ear, so someone thought it was a feral cat and took it to be fixed, so if it's a girl, it's not pregnant. Glad to notice that tonight. It's very friendly or grateful that I'm feeding it because it let me pet it tonight. Progress!

Maggie, have fun with the new addition to the family!!!

Shelly, glad you're back once again.

So, is anyone watching the Super Bowl this weekend?

Rambo goes back to the specialist today for the knee/elbow taps. Hope they can tell us something today but will probably have to send the fluid off to the pathologist. Poor little think can't walk. He tries and keeps falling on his face so hope we can do something today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Oh Lynn, that just breaks my heart that Rambo is not doing well at all. I sure hope that the specialist is able to do something for him now and not have to wait until after the results are back. How are you and Jim doing?

The new little one is doing just fine. Haven't been able to check to see if a boy or girl, but that's hard once they are neutered if it's a boy. I've been able to touch it a little bit, but it isn't real friendly like a couple of the other ones that really like me to pet them. It will probably take some time for it to warm up to me. I hope it sticks around. I've noticed that Casper and Corey's mom hasn't been around for some time now. I really hope that nothing has happened to her, but she was not a friendly one at all; not agressive, but wouldn't let me come near her to touch her.

I had 2 really bad nights the last 2. I stayed home from work on Friday because my throat was really killing me and on fire during the night. I couldn't sleep - doze off for just a little while and then wake back up, tossed and turned all night. I don't know if it was because of the meal that I had out or not, but I ate the leftovers for lunch and dinner last night and it didn't affect me that way, but I have started taking the Prilosec, so I'm hoping that it starts to do better. I did still go out with my GF's last night to see the musical. It was really different but lots of fun. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. When we were getting our tickets, they said that they had a VIP lounge where we could go before the play started and then during the intermission. They had all kinds of food in there and it only cost $5, so we did that and we were really glad that we did. The spread was fabulous - finger foods, wraps, little open face sandwiches, all kinds of cookies, cakes, brownies, etc. We had some before the show started and then went back during intermission and had another plate. ;) We had great seats too - Row F, but people kept trying to sit in them.

I was up about 7 this morning and went to get my hair trimmed. She actually cut a bit off, but it looks great. I had a couple errands to run and then drove out to the Bishop's Storehouse which was actually a waste of about an hour and a half. It was not what I was expecting it to be, so came home and finished up my income tax return and e-filed it so I hope it doesn't take too long to get my refund back!

Good Morning--it is snowing and blowing here today. It started snowing last night and still is, though it is hard to tell what is new snow and what is blowing as we have gust to 30 miles an hour. We probably have 4-6 inches of snow and it is to go all day yet. A great day to stay inside and we have a pot of chili on the stove!

Have a Wonderful Sunday!

Hi ladies!

Tuesday's storm wasn't too bad accumulation wise here. The winds were crazy though!! We both had the day off from work and I spent it in my craft room. I made one card and then really deep cleaned it good. I'm going to attempt to pick up after every project or two so the piles don't get too bad and remember to wipe my table/countertop off at least once a week. They were so gross! We have made a ton of progress in the spare room. It's almost to the point where we can take the bed apart and sell it. I have a bunch of boxes and containers to go through still but I need time to do that. It can't all be done at once.

We are expecting another storm tonight into tomorrow. First predictions were 8-16 inches and now it's 3-6 inches/icy mix. I was hoping for lots of snow again LOL.

We have had a very good weekend. I spent some time scrapbooking yesterday, first time in months. I'm ready to go on getting more done this year! Today we had a lunch date at Buffalo Wild Wings as my stepdad came down this morning to bring me something and he took the dog back home with him :-)

We will be watching the Super Bowl. I can care less about football but I do like the commercials. I usually don't mind the half time show either but I'm not a Katy Perry fan. Since the Patriots are our local team, we'll be rooting for them despite all the "Deflate-gate" stuff. Mike is a Jets fan but they never make it far enough to root for them lol.

Lynn - I hope the specialist is able to treat Rambo so he can walk soon!
Maggie - I'm so sorry you are still having trouble with your throat! I hope the new meds make a difference.
Shelly - I'm glad you had a nice visit with your parents. Fun to go through the pictures! I still need to go through my Mom's pics and scan the ones I want. I'm planning to empty all my middle/high/college/post college photo albums into photo boxes. I hope to scrap some of the pics but others I just want to keep on file. There are several I can toss and lots to scan in to share with other family that may not have them.
Darlene - glad to hear you made it through the storm okay!

For coloring, I use the Copic Xpress It paper. I bought a big package on Amazon two years ago and am still using it (apparently I haven't crafted enough lol!). I used to use PTI's paper but I cannot easily fussy cut the images from it since it's so heavy. I do use theirs for card bases though (for anything that isn't Stampin' Up only).

Waving hi to everyone else! Mike is taking a nap so I think I'm going to head to my craft room while the motivation is still there!

Default Hello!

Happy Sunday : )

I am going to put up a couple of pictures from today about noon- snow and blustery here. It is windy and the snow is blowing/drifting and Ray has gone out 4 times today to snowblow..... Dang I have a bad neck, so I cannot shovel ....that is how it goes......

Kristi- so glad you had some time to scrapbook- creativity is good for the soul! I need to get on board with cleaning off my desk after every project or every other project....yikes!

Lynn- Oh I'm so sorry about Rambo : ( I hope his progress report from the fluid removed is not bad news. How is Jim doing? Glad you are hanging in there!

Jeanette- where to next? Hope your weekend away was good- did you get snow? Yikes- 20 below does not sound good- does your daughter have to wear extra insulated winter clothes? More than at home?

Barb- we got about a foot of snow- how about you? It's nice wet snow- good for the kiddies in the neighborhood to make snowmen : )

Maggie- jeepers- your throat has been sore for a while- so sorry it is still bothering you! Glad you enjoyed the play- the VIP room sounds delicious!

We are going to Florida on Friday- there is a stamp show in Clearwater on Saturday- I am going..... we do not have stamp shows in our area- the vendors say that Chicago is not a good market : ( I do not need a whole lot of stuff, but still the thrill of going...Sweet Stamps will be there, so I will get to meet Stacey- the owner IRL- looking forward to that!

We cut the trip short, cause Katie is coming home a week from Thursday for 3 weeks- yeah! She gets 3 weeks off for Chinese New Year : ) : ) : )

Waving hello to everyone else!
Shelly

Good Morning--Happy Monday and Ground Hog Day and the Start to February!!!!!

It is a whopping 1 degree this morning, but the sun IS shining! I think we got around 8 inches of snow and it was windy all day yesterday and into the night. It is calm this morning and looks quite pretty out-if you like white!

Have a Marvelous Monday!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

I'm home for a few days - can you believe it? I leave again on Friday for another 2-day trip. This one is a bit closer to home - about 1 1/2 hours away. I'll be leading a break-out conference on Friday evening and then again on Saturday morning.

I had a GREAT meeting this past trip - so much accomplished. But now I am way behind here at home! EEK!!!

I read the thread... loved hearing your chatter!

Maggie, I'm sorry you're still not feeling well. UGH!

Lynn, I'm also sorry to hear Rambo isn't doing well.

Kristie, way to go on cleaning in the Craft Room. Oh how I need to do that, but no time this month. EEK! Too many BIG preparations.

Shelly, my DD does wear lots of insulated clothes - and layers. She wears cuddle duds under them all, too. She seems to be handling the cold fairly well. YAY! for 3 weeks with Katie home!

Barb, try to stay warm...... but enjoy the snow, too.

Waving at Darlene, Kelly, Kel, and everyone else!

Shelly, I saw the pictures you had a Facebook! BEAUTIFUL! I love to look at snow!!! Sounds like several of y'all are buried in the white stuff. Glad Katie will be home for a while too! Fun!

Update on Rambo.....went to the specialist on Friday. They did the knee/elbow tap and also some special blood tests. We're still waiting on the result. At least they went ahead and started him on steroids and antibot. for now. He's walking so much better since going on the medication. So now we wait. Oh, and a word of caution! DO NOT ever take your animal to the specialist (only kidding). We could have made four new car payments with that two hours of work he did!!!!!!!!!! All I could think about as my hand was shaking writing the check was - do you even realize all the crafty stuff with this money! LOL! I'm just hoping they can help him. Guess these animals take the place of our kids when they grow up and leave home.

Sorry if I haven't been around your blog to comment!!! That's where I'm headed now though.

Last week's "blizzard" may have been a flop but it made up for it today!! Oh boy...I should NOT have driven to work. The roads were not that great but since no one else was on the road, my commute wasn't all that bad. My job is 3 miles from home on the back roads and once I am out of my neighborhood, it's all main roads. However this afternoon it was white out conditions and NASTY! I have never seen so much snow fall so fast! It was totally unexpected and too late to drive home in my car so one of the guys that drives a small SUV brought me home and will get me in the am or my husband will drop me off. That's if the ice isn't too bad as it's expected to drop quite a bit in temps overnight.

Lynn - I'm so glad that Rambo is starting to walk better! I hear you on the pet bills, a friend of mine could have bought a new house with what she's spent on her dogs, cat and birds over the years!

Good evening Stamp Addicts.

Started off with PT at 7:30 and then busy day at work today. I did call the throat specialist and made an appointment for next Wednesday. I hate having to wait that long, but she's out of town this week.

Wow, Kristie! You should have stayed home. Glad you didn't try to make the trip home yourself.

LOL! I feel your pain Lynn. I"ve been there a couple times with my kitties. But what else are you supposed to do. Glad that Rambo is already starting to feel better with the meds.

Jeanette, you sure are getting to be quite the traveler. Hope your trip goes well this weekend.

Shelly, Have a great time in Florida at the stamp show. Take the cash that you want to spend and leave the credit card at home. That's so great that Katie will be coming home for 3 weeks. I know you'll enjoy that.

Barb, hope you enjoyed your time at home playing in your craft room.

Just heard on the news that the top paying job in the country is an Orthopedic Surgeon! I've sure been helping to foster that with mine lately. ;)

Gotta go work on a swap tonight and finish putting the pieces together. Then I have an ATC swap to work on. Have to figure out what to do.

Lynn, I'm sure Rambo is worth it. ;)

Kristie... YIKES! I'm glad you're safely home. Sounds like a horrible snow storm.

Maggie, you've had a long/busy day. I hope you are enjoying your evening!

Hi Girls,
I am still here - neither washed away nor sizzling, although it is hot again and humid with it - more rain is forecast, but I don't know that we will get a lot. At least the garden is growing like topsy with this weather.

Shelly sounds as though the next few weeks are going to be awesome for you :-)

Jeanette when are you going to slow down? :-) - you sound almost as busy as Kelly - BTW - anyone 'seen' Kelly of late??

Lynn - sounds as though Rambo is on the mend, even if your finances are not - know the feeling as we had some vet bills late last year......

Kristie that sounds like a potentially scary ride - so glad a co-worker could assist you!!

Kel - how are you and the wee ones doing?? - at least you don't get snow where you are :-).

Maggie I do hope they get to the bottom of what is causing you so much pain with your throat - its been quite the saga.

Darlene - trust all is going well with you and your birds - have they been up to any mischief of late - I enjoy your wee stories of Bijou and company.

No more news of Jordan at this point. I have had a day of sudden exits from home - firstly a phone call to collect some vegetables, but within a very short time frame, so it was up and out in minutes.

I had barely cooked dinner when DD and hubby had to head to the local welfare office as they were threatening to half their income - long story short it was an admin blunder, but they did not have an appointment so they had to just go and sit and wait, and that meant I had to go and look after the sleeping child :-) Thankfully the front of office person was 'onto' it and got them sorted in very short time without them having to wait for their caseworker!!

Life is never dull here with family around! I have managed a few cards though, so there is some sanity!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maxine, yikes! I'm glad your DD/her hubby got that mess cleared up! And as far as slowing down goes.... I think things will get a bit slower mid-June. ;)

Until then, I have very few weeks that don't include some travel. EEK!

BTW, did I tell you all......... I applied for a mission trip a week or so ago. I'm going to the Dominican Republic in May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Barb! And two good things about it - the plane ride is MUCH shorter and the trip is MUCH less expensive than the Thailand trips. This time we'll be working with nationals and not American children.

Ladies, you may have noticed we haven't seen Kelly in the thread lately... here's a bit of information regarding Kelly.

Kelly's DD (the youngest of the three DD's) has been quite sick for a while now. They diagnosed her with a thyroid situation and began treatment, but instead of getting better, her condition has worsened. They are now saying she's what Kelly calls "thyroidic storm" and they are in the process of admitting her to the hospital.

Thanks for keeping Kelly's family in your thoughts/prayers!
