Default Current Die Cut Machines - help to newbie

Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the correct place.
I never thought I'd need a die cut machine, but the more I see samples of what they can do, now I'm thinking the time has come to get one -- I especially love the embossing folders. After my initial research, I think the Big Shot is what I should purchase.
For those of you who have recently purchased this machine, can you tell me what I will need to purchase aside from what comes with the machine to really get started?
I tend to make cards only at the holidays, when we make a lot for a local charity. I could see using it for a few other things throughout the year as well.
I'm trying to get an idea of what this will "really" cost. Thanks!
