Obadiah and the Church Cat
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
Obadiah was a church mouse who lived a peaceful life in Gods house. Then one day while walking under a pew, Obadiah heard a Mew. Oh no, could it be a feline had invaded? Obadiah froze and waited with his breath bated.
The kitty stretched and then blinked He was the color of Versafine Onyx ink Having woken from his nap He sauntered down the apse. The kitty stopped and stared Obadiah was so scared! Whats a church mouse to do? He was plainly in Inkys view.
Inky purred and flicked his fluffy ebony tail He smiled and said, Mouse, you are not in jail. My name is Inky and I am a peace loving soul Getting along with fellow mammals is my goal. Come out from underneath that pew I promise I won't hurt you."
"I have always heard of church mice and thought living in a church would be nice. I have moved in with the new pastor He is my kind and beloved master."
"Im lucky enough to be a church cat I dont expect you to roll out the Welcome mat, but I am well fed and have no need for stalking Ill even share my bread with you while we sit here talking.
Obadiah was so relieved. Could this cat be believed? After all, they were in the house of the Lord Even a cat couldnt be so untoward.
Inky pushed a crust of bread It landed next to Obadiahs head. The new friends sat and shared their snack The little brown mouse and this cat of black. Unlikely buddies who shared a home And thats the end of my Teapot Tuesday poem.
When God Created Kitty Cats
When God created kitty cats, He had no recipe; He knew He wanted something sweet, As sweet as sweet could be. <O:p</O:p He started out with sugar, Adding just a trace of spice; Then stirred in drops of morning dew, To keep them fresh and nice. <O:p</O:p He thought cats should be soft to pet, Thus He gave them coats of fur; So they could show they were content, He taught them how to purr. <O:p</O:p He made for them long tails to wave, While strutting down the walk; Then trained them in meow-ology, So they could do cat-talk. <O:p</O:p He made them into acrobats, And gave them grace and poise;
Their wide-eyed curiosity, He took from little boys. <O:p</O:p He put whiskers on their faces, Gave them tiny ears for caps; Then shaped their little bodies, To snugly fit on laps. <O:p</O:p He gave them eyes as big as saucers, To look into man's soul; Then set a tolerance for mankind, As their purpose and their goal. <O:p</O:p Benevolent ... and ... generous, He made so many of them; Then charged, with Fatherly Concern, The human race to love them. <O:p</O:p When one jumped up upon His lap, God gently stroked its head; The cat gave Him a kitty kiss, "What wondrous love," God said. God smiled at His accomplishment, So pleased with His creation; And said, with pride, as He sat back, "At last. . .I've reached purr-fection!" <O:p</O:p Author Unknown <O:p</O:p
