I looked through the first page of this forum but did not see this already posted. I apologize if it is a repeat. just went to their site to see the October releases and they have finally released their new ink. Just an FYI.
I had all their colors AND refills in the old colors. I gave them away and I am not going to be repurchasing them again. I still love their papers, stamps, buttons and ribbons. Oh and the dies.
blessings.
I started to purchase them the other night when I saw they'd finally come out with their new formulation. Then I figured I'd gotten by this long without them, I could wait to hear the reviews before trying it again. Fortunately I quit buying the old style after only a few colors, but I'm still hesitant to try again without hearing more input from customers.
Fortunately, there were plenty of other goodies to tempt me...
I missed out on the Papertrey inks the first time around, which turned out to be a good thing, lol.
I bought some stuff the other night, and added a pad of Pure Poppy to make the amount I needed for free shipping. The shipping would cost more than the ink did, so I figured it was a good deal.
I remember loving a lot of the cards I saw made with Pure Poppy last Christmas. I'll let you know how I like it. I usually prefer pigment inks for clear stamps, but we'll see.

Same here, I want absolutely stellar reviews for the ink before I reinvest in them again. Plus, I do not like the shape of the new inkpads. I mean, they're cool looking, but they won't fit into my current inkpad holder.
From the PTI Website:
PLEASE NOTE: Since the Premium Dye Ink is water-based, it is not waterproof or Copic compatible. Because of the quick-drying nature of this ink it does not work well for embossing.
Having purchased their ink in the past and now have no options for reinkers I think I will pass on their latest (is this their 3rd try?) ink experiment! I have several different brands that are time tested and don't really need another brand!

What she said!!!! I already wasted my money on bad ink twice. Not again.
Yes, I agree with all you ladies about not jumping in to purchase right away. I never bought any of their ink in the first place, but I do love some of their colors of paper and ribbon and would love a matching ink.
I am glad Bugga is purchasing one pad so she can give us a review. It appeared to me they have only released six colors; two of which are black and white. Maybe they are taking it slow to see if they can win their customers back on ink or if they've "burned that bridge" so to speak. I think many folks who spent money on the old inks have since found suitable replacements and it will be a hard sell to get people to lay down money on ink from this otherwise STELLAR company.

I think PTI should offer these inks at a serious discount to people who purchased their inks in the past.
I agree. And even then I'm not sure I would purchase it. The discount would have to be pretty hefty. I don't think it will happen though, so I probably won't get them. I've already found suitable replacement inks for a lot of their colors.

I did not purchase any of the new ink on the 15th, but that is because I am still using all of their older inks with no problems. The only ones with which I had issues were the original 3 lightest colors, and those were returned for a refund way back.
The ladies who used the new inks in July at Stamp a Faire loved them, and there is still the second formulation to be introduced later (each color in a dye ink and also another formulation).
Time will tell what people think of the new ink...
I too am waiting for more comments on the new ink before buying. I'd bought a few of the old colors and had problems especially with the lighter colors. I don't want to get burned again either.
Bugga, let us know how the ink works. I was surprised to see that it is dye ink. I didn't think any dye ink worked well with clear stamps.
Memento inks work great with clear stamps.
I saw the inks the other night, but didn't order any. I didn't like the shape of the larger pad either. I might be interested in a few of the cubes, but will wait to see what happens.
From what I understand, they're releasing 4 colors each month (no new colors yet, but all based on replacing the old ink colors).

I'm holding off as well. I still have the older inks and no refills but think I'm going to try to find someone who wants them.
I think I would send them back with a nice letter asking them to replace them with the new ones. From what I hear about their customer service, I think they will do the right thing.

LMBO.... I sooooo don't see Nicole/pti replacing them... Nope ...sure don't!
Not buying the new ones at this point, either. Had a disaster of the first try times 3 and ended up with some smelly goo instead of ink... If someone tries the new ink and likes it, let us know, please!

Definitely not trying the new ink no matter what. I have come to love Versamagic, Memento and A Muse, so perfectly content with my ink situation now! And don't like the new shape either.
I was terribly disappointed with their previous inks. And what's weird to me is non-PTI Palette inks were perfectly fine. I wonder why the PTI version couldn't have been just as good.
I agree with Jennifer - I don't see customers' old ones being replaced with new in a million years. NancyK, excellent idea but I don't see the discount happening either. That would be a complete shock. If for nothing else that the logistics of it. Customer service doesn't seem to be their strength.
Mary, a second formulation? That doesn't exactly inspire confidence considering how things have gone with their inks in the past.
Don't get me wrong - PTI does many things well. I have been a very loyal customer for some of their products but have also learned my lessons.
I think if the new ink is good and gets a nice reputation, they'll do fine selling it to those who really like matched colors and for new customers.
Sticking with Memento and Tim Holtz Distress Inks!! Both work wonderfully on clear stamps! Actually, the PTI Palette ink pads (the FIRST PTI inks, except for Aqua Mist) still work fine for me - I'll keep using these until they run out, and then get replacement colours in Memento (as close as I can match them) as needed. I've never liked pigment inks - too messy and hard to clean for me.
One thing I'm slightly distressed about is that PTI stopped posting Copic colour combinations for their newer colours!!
I am also a loyal PTI customer - for their paper!! I have a few of their stamp sets as well.
I definitely don't see PTI replacing the old inks that customers have purchased. I actually read their forums (haven't in awhile) and they even said that they wouldn't when they discontinued the inks.
I have plenty of other choices at this time that not having their ink isn't a hardship for me. I'm sticking with my Memento, a muse|studio, and Distress inks. I don't *need* it all anymore :-)

I think it would be a great tool to know of what colors of which brands match PTI colors.. ;) I have some matches already but not all.
So far I am using:
Memento Rose Bud to match PTI Hibiscus Burst,
Memento Pear Tart for PTI Spring Moss/Simply Chartreuse
Tim Holtz Peeled Paint for PTI Ripe Avocado
Memento Summer Sky for PTI Spring Rain.
I mostly just use these for flowers (pink), leaves (green), and sky (blue).
PTI's Dark Chocolate IS Palette's normal brown (forgot what name it is) so that's all right.
I also love that Memento's Tuxedo Black doesn't stain my clear stamps (like Palette Noir does) AND it is Copic-friendly! (But I DO use Palette Noir for watercolours)
For actually distressing by sponging, I just use whatever Tim Holtz brownish shade is nearby (Vintage Photo, Corduroy, etc.)
If I can ascertain that Memento or Tim Holtz/Ranger is making the PTI inks, I may give them another try, even though I also don't like the shape of them - I see accidents happening with the pointy tip!!!!
On Release Night, October 14th, while performing the upload for the new products in our webstore, a technical glitch occurred and the graphics & pricing for the new ink products defaulted back to the previous discontinued pigment ink title, free refill and $6 pricing. However, when the item was added to your cart, you were charged $5 and sent a new dye ink pad without a refill. We take full responsibility for what occurred and after hearing constructive feedback from many of our loyal customers, we have opted to make up the difference for the absence of the refill and refund $3 to those customers that ordered while the incorrect graphic was in place. The refund will be and provided to anyone who ordered ink before 12:15am EST. After 12:15am the graphics had been corrected and reflected that there was no free refill. Since the advertised price that was alongside the free refill notation was $6 and you were only charged $5, the $3 refund you will receive covers the $4 refill incentive value. To receive a refund, any customer that specifically included the purchase of Spring Moss or Aqua Mist ink pads before 12:15am EST on their order needs to email customer service with their order number.
We hope that many of you find this solution meets your satisfaction. Thank you for your understanding on this matter. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that our error might have caused.
UMMMMM, if I thought I was getting a refill and didn't, I'd rather get the refill sent out than the money refunded because it will ultimately cost more to get the refill with shipping unless you waited for another order. Just sayin'
But, I'll just keep using what I have for now ;-)

Count me in this group as well! I use Versamagic, Memento, A Muse, and Fresh (From Impress which is from the same manufacturer I believe as A Muse) and am very satisfied with quality and selection of colors. Impress has sales from time to time, so that's a good time to try the Fresh Ink.
As for the PTI inks, what is that saying? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. As was mentioned previously, it would have to be a pretty big incentive for me to go the PTI route. Like free with purchase incentive;)
I was hoping that PTI would offer a free refill with the new inks as a way of compensating for the previous two ink problems, or some type of discounted bundle, but it chose not to do so.
PTI explained that it is charging $5 for the larger ink pads rather than $6 that it should have charged for those ink pads to compensate customers for the previous problems.
This wasn't a sufficient discount for me, given the large investment I had made in 2 versions of ink, so I'll pass.

Interesting Joan. I assumed the lower price was because with the new shape the ink pad looks smaller. I guess they'd say the shape is more costly to produce and more functional so it balances out. All I can think is that they are hoping to win new ink customers, not win back the old.
They are an odd shape, not sure about it, I prefer a simple square or rectangular inkpad. I wonder what that other formulation will be. I'm happy with my collection of SU, ColorBox chalk, black and brown Stazon and 3 DI's. I have just one of the old PTI's-Vintage Cream-and rarely use it.
Since the new pads are smaller than the old ones, selling them for a dollar less seems appropriate! Saying that the price is lower to somehow make up for the money we spent on the old formula doesn't make any sense to me; I too will stick with what I've got!
