If you are carfty you can make them into great pincushions like these I made last year. Mine have knitted wash cloths wrapped around them but the link to the tutorial should show them in better detail ; )
Years ago, I had an over abundance, and saw a stacked holiday candy jar idea. I took one of the junior size, then two of the smaller jars. Large jar, with lid on, goes on the bottom. Glue smaller jar on top of that, then the other small jar on top. Decorate the top of the jar on top, embellish other jars. It turns out to be a small stacked candy jar. Use a really tough glue, then you can twist the lids off to get to the candy. These are cute, small, looks cute on people's desks.
I love the idea of a making them into pin cushions. I'm going to check out the holiday stacked jar idea also. Thanks for all of the great ideas! Please keep them coming, I have bags of them...(she's 8 months old, so I don't think I'm going to run out anytime soon).
When my children were little, my babysitter filled them with colored water and glitter. The kind with big shapes in it. Then she glued pictures of the kids on them and then used some ribbon around the top. Absolutely loved them and I still have them.
I am loving these ideas ladies! I have been throwing them away because I have all I can use for embellishment storage but love the pin cushion and bath saltz idea. Fun!

Ok this intregued me a bit so i googled Some more ideas:
Hot chocolate jars (like jars with really good hot chocolate mix in it that can be given as a gift (I have seen people give these in like a old school milk crate thing for prezzies)
Texas snowman (I have no idea what this is but more info at Texas Snowman)
potpourri air freshners (use doily or cloth on top rather than lid so the smell can get out)
Everyone has great ideas, look forward to seeing more. A couple of years ago I made some of that homemade hand cream and put it in sm. baby food jars and gave them
to friends, they loved it. I painted the lids and decorated the outside.
For my craft shows, I paint the lid a harvest color, fill with candy and then glue a small pinecone on top which holds a placecard for Thanksgiving. People love them.

This sounds so pretty, do you have a picture you can share?

Goals for 2015 50 scrapbook pages/50 cards---progress 35/50 cards Complete my daughter's wedding scrapbook album Spend more time enjoying my friends and not so much time obsessing on work!!!
I have seen them with candles inside and hung by decorative wire. Using one long piece of wire wrap the wire securely around the mouth and bottom (can be done decoratively) and use the long end to create a hanger similar to a sconce or outside like patio lights.
In scouts we used to make lit up christmas trees. Using very strong glue attach 9 jars in a striaght line. Them using the natural dents made by the jars glue eight more on top of the original nine. Continue adding rows in decreasing numbers until you have just one on the top. Puy some shredded irridecent paper in each jar. Poke a hole in each lid and reattach the lid. Then using a mini string of christmas lights (must have at least 50 bulbs) push one bulb trough the hole in each lid. Plug in and enjoy. These really do make quite gorgeous radient glass christmas trees.
lisha_1988: If you ever get the chance to visit Texas you'll totally understand the Texas Snowman idea! Especially where I live (in West Texas, we call it the desert) we hardly ever even SEE snow much less get to make a snowman. I used to teach first grade and wish I would have heard about this idea earlier. I can't wait to try some of your ideas.

Reason: clarify
Years ago used to make mini snow globes with my classroom and Campfire kids. Using strong glue, attach a small plastic figure to the center of the lid. Fill the jar with water, moth flakes (if I remember correctly) and a bit of glitter. Apply a silicon sealer around the inside rim of the lid and screw the lid on. Invert, shake and enjoy. The lid can be painted/decorated any way desired.
It's not very crafty, but I kept a few of our baby food jars to hold salad dressing and sauces in my lunch bag.
And if you have the plastic containers that Gerber foods come in now, they're the perfect size for sorting and storing embellishments. Just put a bunch of them in a shoebox or in a shallow drawer.
Well, I can actually say that I am jealous. I wish I had a bunch of baby food jars. A while ago, I got this tutorial for a 6-pack caddy for baby food jars, but haven't been able to use it because I don't have any of the jars. I don't remember where I got the tutorial, but I am very willing to share.
If you make the caddy, you can fill it with the jars filled with candies, candles or some of the other fabulous ideas from this thread.
By the way, if you decide you want to get rid of some of the jars, send me a pm and maybe we can find a way to help you out.
Happy Crafting

Maybe you could get a child care center near you to save some jars for a couple days. Or maybe put a note up in the nursery at church and some of the mothers could contact you. Just a thought.
You know all of those recipes that substitute applesauce for oil? Try pureed baby food instead. Apples are a given, but carrots, squash, or sweet potatoes will add a little extra flavor. Now you have an excuse to buy them!
Thanks for all great ideas on how to get baby food jars. I may just have to try the applesauce vs oil idea. I have a few great recipes that do that substitute, so I'm halfway there already.

subbing. I have boxes of them that I saved and my husband has been slowly moving them closer to the trash every time he cleans...I put wishing stars in them and sell them at craft shows but was needing some more ideas. Thanks!

A bit off topic but I would love to know where to find some of these recipes. Sounds like
a great idea to save calories.
