Clean and Simple (CAS) Favorites for the Week Ending July 4, 2010
Welcome to the CAS Favorites of the Week Thread. EVERYONE is welcome to link to their favorite clean and simple cards from last week's gallery posts. It's easy, it's fun, and it's a happy celebration of the CAS style!
Happy Fourth of July to all the Americans here, and a slightly belated Canada Day to all the Canadians!
It feels so good to be back from vacation! Many thanks to Karen for keeping this thread going while I was away.
I had a lovely time this week back in the gallery but noticed that many of the cards I favorited had just one or no comments. If you get a chance in the busy the holiday weekend to leave a few comments, please do. Some lovely work is being neglected in the huge, huge gallery.
Here are some of my favorites. I'll be back later with more...the list is long!
DebKNeer used an older PTI set on a simply perfect one-layer card
kstamper's love you hearts card demonstrates beautifully how repetition can add punch to a CAS card (pun intended!)
k dunbrook created a super-cool background for her O' Canada card, and then doodled to finish it off fabulously
Benzi made a Sail Away card that uses texture and color for wonderful effect
ravengirl posted a sweetly simple baby congratulations card
kthaman made a one-layer firecracker card that is brilliant
lnl96 used a TOOTHPICK! on her fab Stars and Stripes card
LuvLee made a great Aloha card with wonderful complimentary colors and use of pearls
PaperInBloom posted so much CAS gorgeousness this past week I linked to her gallery rather than any one card
Lynnie Poo used white embossing beautifully on her simple Birthday card
criminalgrace used a totally fab color combo with lots of aqua "white" space to accent her lovely punched/die cut collage
jellybean74 made a lovely FTL card with simple pink and black impact
stampinandrea airbrushed a background for her pretty silhouette card
bwstamper's amazing poinsettia card totally grabbed my attention
peanutbee used just a touch of stickles to finish her lovely Starfish card
Back later with more CAS gorgeousness! In the meantime, please share your own favorites with the rest of us so we can see what we missed in the big, big gallery!
Despite being computer-less this week, I managed to sneak into the gallery a few quick times by going to my daughter-in-law's house. Can't be ignoring such wonderful creations, can we? Here's some of what I faved.
Bar posted a bird on a branch card that is simply amazing
The Fourth of July is a celebration of the birth of a nation dedicated to freedom. It seems appropriate to celebrate artistic freedom today as well. My favorite part of SCS is how so many styles, so many different approaches to stamping exist in one place. If you want CAS inspiration, it's here. If you want over-the-top, sumptuously embellished and layered inspiration, it's here. If you want instruction on techniques or to try something new, it's here. If you want artistic or even off-topic community, it's here.
Isn't it great to know that no matter what your style, no matter where you live, no matter how many or how few stamps you own, you have a place here at SCS?

WOW.....thanks so much Susan, for mentioning my Happy Canada Day card. It was fun and easy to create even though I struggle with using only one layer!!
Glad to have helped out with this forum. I love it here. Such wonderful card to see and when I don't have time in the gallery it is nice to know that I can get the chance to appreciate and enjoy all that I have missed!!
Thanks to all who have posted here and for all the inspiration.
Hope you enjoy a wonderful Holiday weekend.

Thanks, Diane, for favoriting my CAS challenge card, and to Karen for letting me know! Friday was my birthday, today's the 4th of July...and I'm adding my card's mention here to my list of reasons to party this long holiday weekend! ;) Because the CAS style is always a bit of a challenge for me, it is a real honor to be mentioned here! Thanks again!

Thanks, Susan, for mentioning my 'Sail Away' card. I don't do a lot of CAS cards and I really enjoyed making this one. Have a nice 4th of July.

Was just wondering why the entire post has to be quoted when saying "thanks for mentioning my card"? It's annoying to see things repeated unnecessarily over & over - just say thanks.
Thanks LateBlossom and fionna51 for mentioning my card! After just burning not one but TWO entire batches of cookies, this totally brightened my spirits. Thanks so much.
Off to check out all the fabulous CAS cards for the week!

You all are awesome - thanks so much for taking what I mentioned to heart - much nicer to read - muchly appreciated.
i'll probably continue to reply with the quote; makes it easier for subscribers to link to a card instead of scrolling all the way back to the beginning to find which card. i know i could cut and paste only the section that applies to me, but as a person with a disability, typing is difficult and painful, so it's just easier to hit the "reply with quote button." can you just ignore or scroll past my posts if i'm fortunate enough to be in this thread again?

Thank you, Susan, for mentioning my card! And thanks to Karen who is so good about letting me know! I'm just thrilled that you liked it!!
What a pleasant surprise!!! Thanks to kjo13 for the mention and to Karen for the 'heads up'. Had loads of fun squishin' flowers through the cuttlebug for the TLC this week and I sure appreciate being listed here! A real honour for me - thanks so much!
I didn't fave a whole bunch of cards this week and most that I did fave were more elaborate, but this one certainly caught my attention:
For You Friend by Karin Menghini ~ a real eye-catching example of some of the new SU colours...
