Default Enabler alert - paper in Vancouver

I went to Coast paper today and got some real bargains. I got 100 sheets of blue and green cover stock for $5 per pack. The blue is almost identical to Baja Breeze and the green is very pretty (similar to certainly celery, I think) They also had 12x18 sheets of a pretty yellowy green and white. I spent a total of $12 and got a LOT of paper - just for your info!!!!!

Wow! I didn't know you could do that. What kind of weight are these (say in comparison to SU).
Thanks,
nina

They have a cash and carry (you can use a credit card!!!) down the east side of the building.

The blue and green paper I bought was called cover stock and I would say it feels a bit thicker than SU paper - similar to Gina K Pure luxury weight.

It's hit and miss when you go - they have different packages every time. The fellow who works there is very helpful and if you tell him you're making cards, he'll steer you in the right direction.

I need to stay away - I could start my own store with the paper I have! LOL

This is great - thank you so much for this heads up! I love the sounds of the colours you got - I wonder if they will still have some next week...? That's such a good deal. I wonder if you've ever gotten any white cardstock for Copics?

Happy crafting with all that great paper!

Yes, Nina

I checked with the fellow there and he says that none of their paper is coated so it's fine for Copics - I have been using it a lot. Most of their cover (card) stock has a nice smooth finish which is perfect for alcohol markers. Good luck if you go!

Oh my gosh! I just got back from the warehouse - thank you piano5678! I spent $39 and could barely carry all the paper I got for that. Great stuff of varying weights - some for card bases (including 180# - I'm thinking boxes...!), some for layering or thinner scrapbook pages (that 12x18 paper is great for that, to make 12x12). Some hopefully that will work with Copics. I can't wait to play...

Given that this place is less than 15 min from home, I suspect I will be popping in there often to see what clearance papers they've got.

Check them out (coastpaper.com) - they are across Canada.

Thanks again for the alert!

Glad you went, Nina. It makes me want to go back! I discounted the 180# because I thought it was too thick!! Well done

Barb,
I think the 180# IS too thick for cards. I just used my Scor-Pal to score it and it still crackled a bit when I bent it. I tried scoring on both sides before folding, & that seemed to help so if I can get it to fold cleanly it would be great for foldables. Even the 130# Baja Breeze type cardstock was pushing it as far as folding went (but gorgeous & cheap). I think sticking to the 110# PTI (or 120# Gina K) is sufficiently thick for cards.

And both whites I got (the 180# and a different 100#) were GREAT for Copics! Of course no bleed-through for the 180# and I didn't see much on the 100#.
