DM - I am sorry you cannot go! It is good you can now plan for everything but I feel really bad you cannot go with hubs. We certainly are not "stuck" with you and I am sure the cats are thankful (not that they are spoiled or anything)
Has anyone else noticed they wont say how much snow we may get here? Weather.com says 5+ but on the news they avoid it LOL
'we may get a mix or a few inches'
In other news I won a $50 safeway gift card off one of my fave savings blogs wooohoooo! I tried one of their deli bake at home pizzas yesterday and omg it is as good as papa murphy's so I suspect that $50 will go to pizza LOL

OMG. That sounds SO good!! I am sooo tired of only being able to cook on top of the stove!!! I am definitely using the oven today! Thank goodness we have the gas stove - and a long lighter thingy! At least we were able to have hot meals. And, I boiled kettles of water and slowly poured it onto the coffee grinds in the regular pot - so we were able to keep having coffee.
Cherie, I am glad you are okay. Gloria, you definitely win the prize for truly being snowed in! Larry just called to say our street is an ice slick and I should not even try to go out. My friends in Mass got nothing!
I need to remember that trick about using the snow as a fridge if the power goes out as it did go out for a few minutes this morning. I sure hope it doesn't do it again.
When we first moved in this house, it was in a snow storm in January, 1985. The appliances were not yet delivered (delayed due to the snow), so we just put our food in the snow outside the back door. Our Real Estate agent gave us a bottle of champagne at settlement and the snow was a great champagne cooler!
Jane, so glad your power was only out a few minutes. Hoping is stays on! I heard some of W Laurel was out over the wekend - since I 'saw' you here, I am guessing you were not effected.
I don't know where my friend has heard this, but she just said she heard it would be another 9-15"...I am hoping she has wax built up and she heard it wrong...

LOL i think i have found someone more obsessed with coffee than me...I probably would be in a bed somewhere with all the girls piled in with me, may even let ariel get on the bed...nothing like having an 80 pound living bear rug

They just said it on the news finally....what cracks me up is they have MD split in 3 categories like it is a huge state...so I think a strong gust of wind can change it....right now we are in the 6-12"...right below us is like 3-5" and then a small north section is 12-15"
so it is a "do you feel lucky" type of storm i guess.

We lost power Friday night....It just came back on at 2am this morning...Once the hubs wakes up, we will start bringing in the groceries from the snow. Am letting him sleep as long as he deems neccessary! After all the snow shoveling and not getting back from the ER until 12:45 this morning, he deserves to sleep...I fell on the ice and landed on my head last night at 8 - had been in the car charging the cell phones. CAT scan says mild concussion and a sinus infection. Glad everyone is warm, or getting there...
Cherie, I'm so sorry you were without power for so long! Glad it is back on now and you guys can get warm! Sorry to hear about the fall too and glad that it wasn't worse. Smart move to put the groceries outside in the snow!

Glad you could find a way to keep havng that ever essential coffee!
we have a French press so John can get his coffee fix one way or another. he is NOT allowed to bring the Keurig with him. I already claimed that. might get him a mini one though....he's going to see what he will have in the BOQ there.
apparently back on January 10th my EFMP category was released only nobody bothered to tell me. I am Cat4.. which means. I AM NOT going to Okinawa.
Oh well, on the one hand it now means we know exactly what to expect as far as getting stuff done and he can leave early if he wants to.. don't have to find a renter for the house now.
so you ladies are stuck with me a while longer....
DM, I am so sorry they didn't tell you and you just found out now, I know you are disappointed. And no, we are not "stuck" with you, I am glad you decided to stay here in MD. And you know we are all here for you and will help you get through while John is gone.
Cherie how did you cope with your power out all that time. Please tel me you heat with oil or gas or something. You should be a little icy popsicle by now. Glad you are ok with the fall. Are you having headaches?

Marty Bass on Ch. 13 said this morning that we would probably get 6-10 so I guess they are all getting on the same page! I have no idea where we will put another 10" of snow!

LOL the lady across the street from me just told me that it was 6 to 12
That was Cindy L's swap item from the Baltimore Swap. She is so talented. I made it for my husband. He has a birthday this month so I am putting his birthday present in it and giving it to him! It did come out really cute. And thank you for the sweet words on my card. I used a punch on vellum for the envelope. I literally thought this card up in my sleep. Woke up with it on my mind. Strange thing about stamping, things like that tend to happen to us!

I think you should wait till Wednesday at least. So many people without heat and power and what with the search party looking for Pawncetawny Phil.....well, you know, folks just need more time!

Cherie, oh my...you be careful girl! Glad you finally have heat and coffee back.
DM~ Sorry you wont be able to go to Oki.
Our roads here are fine. I went to my friends house last night to watch the game. I need to widen the driveway a little more in some spots, but I am in pretty good shape up here. It sounds like this next round we may get hit harder than you all though if it is heading north. That's fine with me....more sledding!!! You wanna hear something CRAZY! Because of the drifts, there is a spot on the side of my house that is bare grass. Ten feet in front of it there is a 6 foot drift, but between my house and the neighbor it is bare grass. Wild. I have been putting bread out for the birdies so they can eat too.
And now I will duck....I just wish we could have saved 2" from Saturday and gotten it last night so there would be fresh powder on the sled hill
So DH's flight is SUPPOSED to come in on Wednesday....then he has to dig his truck out of what looks like will be 4' of snow by then....when do you think I will actually see him? I'm thinking April some time. hehe
Cute cards Gloria and Jane...I don't think Tracy's phones are charged at all, yet. Her landline is through comcast - we at least were able to hook up the old-fashioned one. They were without phones completely. Only us odd balls kept going to the car to charge our cells - once we got the cars unburied! No, Gloria - no heat, at all...lots of candle light and flashlights - lots of going to bed EARLY to be underneath all the blankets and sleeping bags! We were able to cook on the stove top since it is gas. The oven, though couldn't be used. Coffee was more for warmth - could hold the cup and get warm on the inside. The nights weren't as bad - better than the days. Sleep makes everything better ...I do have a headache, my eyes are not together as far as depth perception. I was concerned because I am on daily aspirin, thins your blood. She said it can take a good week to feel normal...Hmmm, normal...

Yet anothe day away from the office! One brave (or crazy!) soul made it into the office, so at least we have coverage! She said Route 1 is still not clared, our parking lot was covered with compacted snow and there is no place to park! At least she can answer the phone and reschedule our client appointments. Good thing the filing deadline isn't until April 15 - we may be able to make in by then!
I wonder when Loretta will make it back. She was supposed to get in yesterday...I don't know how long BWI was to be closed...and then to get another flight...
Cherie, good thing you could (eventually) get to your car to charge the cell phones. We didn't get car chargers with our latest batch of phones...but now that I think of it, we have a power converter in the car, so we could plug our house charger into that and charge the phone anyway. Thanks for making me realize that one!

Hmmmm. Or if she can fly in, can anyone get out and then get to the airport to get her???
Cherie, you sound like a real pioneer! I am so sorry you were marooned. I don't deal well with the cold and I don't think I would get out of bed, even for food. It might make a great new diet! Jeaneen, from what Larry said, the roads are slick and scary. I have not seen a snowplow here yet. It's just all compact ice. Larry said it was like riding on a railroad track. And more coming? This is crazy stuff. I hope they are wrong this go round. Cherie, can you now cook and all? I hope your head is okay..
