NOV09VSNI ~ SAT. NOV. 14, 2009 ~ 4 pm EST ~ WHODUNNIT ~ The CASE of the Cracked Glass
Title: "The CASE of the Cracked Glass"
Hostess: Yvonne~Vonnie64~
Keyword: NOV09VSNI
Day/Date: Saturday, November 14th, 2009
Time: 4:00 PM (EST)
A masquerade ball always encompasses the element of disguise and impersonation. Masquerading as someone else leads to much merriment and mischief making! In order to pretend to be someone else, you had to study their character, skills and talents.
What better way to impersonate a great talent than to copy a master? My CASE is of a lovely card that came from a sketch challenge on SCS. I kept it pretty much the same, but used a different stamp for the focal point. In addition, I used the cracked glass technique. It always reminds of me antiques and days gone by. And unfortunately, the days of masquerade balls as a regular event is also a thing of the past.
So, in honour of the Masquerade Ball, my challenge to you is to CASE a card and incorporate the technique of Cracked Glass. You may CASE my card or that of any other master whose style and creative genius youd like to make your own, but put your own disguise on it. Change up the colours of the cardstock or ink, use a different stamp, add a ribbon or other embellishment you get the idea.

The card of the master that I'm impersonating can be seen here. It's from Sketch Challenge SC141 if you'd like to use the same sketch

This is one of those techniques I've never gotten around to trying before. And it's fun looking through my Faves and finding things to CASE.
Here's my card.
It had been a while since I tried this technique, and this time it worked much better! I like the antique look it gives a card. I call mine "Cracked Santa..."
This was also a new technique for me, but unfortunately I didn't have UTEE and I'm not sure the clear embossing powder worked that well. I can tell I've used the cracked glass technique, but I'm not sure it comes through strongly in the image.
Yvonne,
Enjoyed the cracked glass technique! I have never thought of putting an image that has been covered with heat embossing in the freezer to make it more brittle. Excellent suggestions!
I am totally bummed that I won't be able to do this challenge. I've been super busy this weekend (just realized, as I was driving home from one event, that I totally spaced another!), and I haven't done many challenges.
I LOVE the Cracked Glass Technique. I always have to put mine in the freezer before I try to crack them, though. Maybe I'm just too impatient to wait for them to cool!
