Big Shot Express just quit

I have a Big Shot Express, which I love, but it had not been used much. I was in the middle of making die cuts for a set of 60 Christmas cards when it quit. I thought maybe it had overheated, so I let it sit for an hour. Same result. When I depress the power button, it makes a buzzing sound, but will not roll the sandwich through.

Anyone else have this problem? What was the resolution. I have sent an e-mail to Sizzix, but probably won't hear from anyone till at least next week.

Default Big Shot express problems

We sell the Big Shot express at my LSS and to date we have "killed" 3 of them--just like what you said. I was using it to die cut--and not even a whole lot of things--and then they just quit. Same buzzing sound you heard. I've heard that Sizzix is aware there is a problem.

So, did Sizzix replace them for you?

I wouldn't email them. I would call and ask for Customer Service. I hate waiting for a company to email me back, cause you just don't know when they will email you back. Since they probably get so many emails a day. I would defiantly call and let them know what happened and demand some satisfaction.

Definitely call them. I'm sure that they'll try to fix the situation for you.

This is why I didn't get an Express. I worried about the motor. I have a friend with fibro and she loves her and couldn't make diecuts without it (she doesn't have the arm/hand strength), but relying on a motor like that is iffy.

I've had excellent customer service from Sizzix. I'd call them and explain the situation.

I thought I should let you know what happened so far. I called JoAnn on-line service department, since I was thinking that's where I bought it. They told me they couldn't help & to call Sizzix. When I went on line to look for my order, I couldn't find it. Then I remembered that I had purchased it from QVC the first day they featured it. So I called them. They e-mailed me a free shipping label and are going to replace it free of charge. They will then return the failed unit it to Sizzix. I love a place with reiliable customer service!

Also, they asked if I wanted a refund, but I said, no, send me a new Express. I was in manufacturing for 23 years before I retired, and I know sometimes you get early failures, even when you think you've done all the research. I hope they've fixed the problem. If the next one fails, then I will rethink my position. Someone else posted on QVC that theirs had failed to, so obviously there is a problem. But I loved the machine so much that I am definitely willing to give them another chance.

Thanks for your responses.

I am glad they are replacing your machine. However, when I first heard about the Big Shot Express, I said to myself, no way. That is just one more thing to break or go wrong. I like my manual machine. Also, if I start to roll it through and start to notice it is too tight, I can back it back up and readjust my sandwich. I would be afraid if I did that with the Express, it would just squeeze it through anyway and break the machine.

I can understand how it would be great for people with a disability or just weakness or whatever. But me, I am sticking to the old fashioned model!

Vicki...I used the same reasoning for sticking with my old red sizzix...it can't be broken. And it doesn't require messing with sandwiches. And it's heavy so it doesn't move all over when you use it like the big shot does.

But I gave in and got a big shot since I like texture plates. I may even give in to CERTAIN die cuts (I'm not into diecuts much at all). But my "old red" will stay with me. I like less technology! Less to break!
