I just love making my own "dew drops/ pearls" this way. Just made another batch, this time dusted them with perfect pearls - pearl powder and was amased as how much they look like the pearls I've been spending a fortune on. Made this card for a swap and wasn't a bit worried about how many pearls I was going to need. Forums at Splitcoaststampers
THANKS ALL for your help with what you use to attach your "homemade" pearls...I have NOT made another batch...yet...but am going to try again...never thought about forming them on my no stick craft sheet (vs. parchment paper I used).
I TRIED coloring them with S-UP ink...no luck whatsoever, ink wouldn't stick to them...so gonna give the markers a whirl I guess?? Maybe stazon ink?? Not sure...
(have never tried the perfect pearls but they sure sound interesting???..gotta read up on the product I guess also.)
Do you guys just "carefully" hold the pearl down on say, the edge of it? and paint over it? They can be slippery little buggers and I kept flipping them over when I DID try with my S-UP "spots" and the little dauber things....

When I made my glue dots on the foil, they stay put until I pull them off. While they are still attached to the foil is when I paint them. They stay put and don't move.

I'll give that a try as they came off very easily on the parchment paper and "fetching" the little goobers out to paint them is NO FUN...hahahaha
What do YOU recommend to use for coloring them if I might ask???

The glue dots stick to the craft sheet until you peel them off so I brushed on the perferct pearls before peeling them off the sheet. I didn't allow them to set up long just enough to harden. Made one row then started back at first one dusted that row then made another row etc etc. I used ranger alcohol inks to dye the rest. Put them in a small baggie and a few drops of ink and smooshed (technical term) them around with my fingers till they were all coated then spread out to dry. Ok I've been following two threads on this subject. I personally have used alcohol inks, luminere paint and perfect pearls powder, all worked very well and stayed on. Others have posted that SU reinkers did not stick , rubbed off. One poster said she used SU markers and they stayed. Another poster uses nail polish to color them but that seems too fussy for me personally.
I also tried mono glue to adhere them to card but it did not dry completely and left a sticky rim around the edge. I went back to my old standby aleene's tacky glue and this worked great. Dried clear and adhered very well.

When you dusted your "pearls" with perfect pearls-pearl powder, did you put the perfect mixture on them first, than the powder or just the powder by itself? Thanks!
I get mine at Michaels but the are by all the brads/eyelets way on the bottom. They come in packages of 3 different sizes for $1.99. They are adhesive backed to. I just snip between them and use my tweezers. THey are also clear and pink rhinestones you can buy right by them. I forget the brand name of them though.

Just the powder by itself. I did not let the glue set all the way. I made a row of dots then used a brush to brush the powder on before making another row. Have to be careful though that they are not too hot or you will smoosh the shape.
In a nutshell, she writes:
"I made the cutest little pearls - you see we don't really have pearls or brads for the IN COLOUR that Stampin Up offers every year, so you got to come up with your own - I punched some Melon Mambo circles from my Scallop punch and adhered them with the Crystal Effects. Then did another dab of Crystal effects on top! and voila we have a pretty little pearl - aint it cool???"
Wow - you ladies are amazing. I so appreciate it when someone brings to the top a great thread like this one. Yippee - I learned something today. Now... where is that glue gun???
These pearls and dew drops are sooooo cool! I have to try this because I can never find just the right colour to match what I'm making but now the sky seems to be the limit. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful technique!
I have the Pearl Pens which I got from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, and I love them. They come in different colors and you can make any size you want just by squeezing the pen. They settle into a perfectly domed pearl and dry pretty quickly. I apply mine directly to the project, so no glue is needed.
I have just tried making the pearls from the glue sticks, but can't seem to get them nice and round and when you move to make the next one you end up with a string of glue. Any ideas on how to make the uniform and not end up with the string of glue?

Are you using the high temp or low temp ones? I find that the low temp ones are easier to make them round. It also takes a little practice. I swirl mine as I am dropping the glue. I don't worry about the little strings, because afterwards, you can use your heat gun for just a few seconds and that will make them dissapear.

Don't know if this is true of all Michael's, but the Michael's where we live has pearls and rhinestones (self adhesive) similar to what is in the Etsy store for $1 each. They don't have them all the time, mainly because they sell out before the next order comes in (what the gal at our Michael's told us). I've seen them there several times -- and at $1, buying them is addictive.
They also have them in a wide range of colors and styles. Pearls are all one color but 3 different sizes on a card. And they have quite a variety of colors. I got dark purple, red, dark olive green, and navy blue pearls the last time I was there.
Rhinestones come in three styles - just round, all one color, but different sizes; red and clear, all round but in different sizes; and all one color, but with different sizes and some have the floral style (looks like a 5 petal flower) on them as well. They have every color including BLACK (which I had been having a dilly of a time trying to find). They were not with the other more expensive pearls and embellies, but hanging on a display at the end of a row in the scrapbooking area.
