I hope they don't go with clear stamps. I wouldn't mind if they decided to offer unmounted rubber as an option though.

You guys are probably too young (in stamping terms) to remember when SU used to have a foam or wood mounted option. ((I know, this makes me an "old" stamper)). I always used to get the foam bc it was less expensive (dumb). I think it was a nightmare for them to keep track of that many product options in the "pick line".

I also think the wood is not a substantial cost saving factor since they do produce their own wood, so if you are thinking that an "unaccompained with wood" option would be cheaper, it probably wouldn't be ((of course, technically, SU sets ARE already unmounted)). If they offered wood as an option they would still need to manufacture the blocks to the right dimensions and create the packaging .

Another thing they have to consider is that, many of us are still devoted to our wood mounts and they know that. When the majority of their customers would rather ditch their wood, then they will probably change with the demand just like they did with the foam mounted sets. I doubt if it would happen soon though.

I used to buy the foam mounted stamps, too, thinking that I could get more for my money and buy way more things per order. I think I have one set from that time left -- everything else was sold at garage sales.

I just hope they will one day offer mounted or unmounted. I like the red rubber so stick with that but offer it unmounted too.
