That would be worth joining just to get the $30 off! I'm already a demo, but if I had anyone who was on the fence I would definetly be pushing them to sign now!

I asked, I have 3 friends that are great demos. I have been thinking about signing up for the discount, but don't know how to choose which one to sign up under.
Also, could someone tell me how much is the discount?
Personally, I would sign up under whoever would make the best upline. The person that fills you in with information first, is supportive of her downline in positive ways, and is not pushy or greedy for her commission. If one of the 3 fits the bill, then that's the one I'd go with.
I think the discount is 20% off if I remember correctly. I wish my dh would let me do this, but I really blew it with the CM experience so I won't even ask!
I've been waiting for the "right time" to sign up (start of quarter, end of catalog, etc) but I guess a $30 discount off the kit beats than a poke in the eye! Looks like i'll be jumping off the fence.
I'm SO excited, I just emailed one of my customers that is "on the fence"... hopefully this will be enough to get her to sign up
To answer questions: The "discount" is 20%, but based on your monthly sales, you can earn up to 12% more (though 12% is hard to get... 4-5% is more likely! But hey, any extra is good!) And, don't forget- you actually make 30% on your very first order... so make it a good one I had a workshop and added my own personal order to my first one so I got lots of benefits and the big discount.
Also, this discount makes getting the additional scrapbooking kit even more affordable... just think: ALL that merchandise for JUST $219!! How many customers have spent that on just one or two orders??? Yowzers
Congrats to everyone who just jumped off the fence... hope to see many more on "my side" soon!!
Well I for one am relieved that there is no customer special for April...I have just spent too much in the last three months! And I really want to have some shelves and things built for my stamping room...so with no specials I'm going ahead with my room!

You can't ever assume that SU! will offer the same specials from one year to the next. This current March special is the best one I've ever seen!
And to answer another question: your commission (on your own sales and on purchases made through you by others) is determined by your total sales each month. If you place orders for less than $150 in a particular month, you'll get to keep 20%. At $150, your commission will go up to 23.5%. It can get as high as 32%, but you've got to sell a boatload of stamps for that--$10,000 in a single month.
And since my friend and soon to be upline turned me on to this website my house is deteriorating and my kids had sandwiches for dinner tonight and went to bed an hour late due to my new addiction!
Seriously, this site is so wonderful and filled with creative and knowledgeable folks. I look forward to participating!

SU announced that they are disclosing this early so that those who earned the cruise will be able to make plans ahead of time (they will be cruising when this special is "official". It might very well be that there is a "customer" special that will be unveiled on the 1st as well. One won't know for sure until April 1st.

I am SOOOO excited! I have been planning on signing up in April anyway. I was waiting for the new quarter to begin so that my minimum didn't have to be met until September. I am working until the end of May and I can't really devote myself to SU! like I would like to until then so I need the full 6 months. This is such great news.
Was going to wait until June to sign up (as per dh's request with holidays in April, family stuff to do in May, it made sense to sign in June) but with $45.00 off the kit, if I have to sell my first born, I'm signing...well, I'll talk to dh about that first!
Got the paperwork...picking out my sets...filled out what I can...just waiting for the day....

Hmm. Now I'm really perplexed. I've been waiting to sign up for the new catalogue. I don't want 10 copies of an expiring catalogue and don't want to order stamps that I'm not sure will be in the catalogue next year. So --- now I have a real dilemma. I've already spent A LOT this year on stamping stuff and we need a new bathroom!! LOL. So, I'm rolling the dice and am going to wait.

I'm signing up in April - I have already told my upline!!! Now it's even more exciting as I can get a lil' discount!!! Thanks for sharing this with us, you've made my day!!!
Having a B-Day and getting the starter kit in the same month - can life get any better??? LOL!!!

I signed up last time they had that special in 2003. That is what made me do it. You can not beat all the stuff you get when you sign up for that little money. I had just started stamping when i signed up so it gave me a good start. If you are not sure if you want to this is a great time to make up your mind. I am a hobby demo and i never once regretted it.
Plus, demonstrators are able to earn free hostess sets from the new catalog for sales and recruits in March, April, May (Spring into Action Promotion). So, the sooner you sign up, the more time you have to earn these free sets. Plus you also can earn free sets of your choice from the current catalog for your first 3 months of sales/recruits (Stampin' Start). So you can double dip this spring and earn lots of freebies! The sales goals are quite reasonable too - even hobby demonstrators could earn a free set with a little work. Stampin' Up! is so good to us!!
I was so excited when my demo told me about the discount!! I had decided over the weekend that I was going to sign-up as a hobby demo. This was just the perfect timing for me!! I can't wait to get started!

So, if I'm planning on being a hobby demo and don't do the party/hostess thing I can still earn free sets? I decided to sign-up to be a hobby demo to get the discount, and have the oppertunity to meet other stampers in my area. Free stamps would be great.
Just to help you out- the price difference for Canadians is $45.00 off the price of the Starter kit.
This is an awesome special for new recruits. And just in time for Spring into Action.

" I am on a mission to share the SU! addiction!"
Super news! It's like getting your Scrapbook Add on pack for $20!!!
I just got my paper work filled out, but now I'll have to subtract $30. somewhere on this teeny form!
SU does not distinguish between a hobby demonstrator and a business demonstrator - so everyone is eligible for the incentives that we can earn throughout the year. The incentives are just higher for the more sales/recruits that you have. So the more sales you have, the more freebies you can get. For Spring into Action, rewards starts after $1000 in sales for March, April, May combined - which would be 3 average workshops, or 1 really good workshop which many new demos can attain because hopefully friends and family are excited about helping you get started. When I first started (6 years ago), we had to sell $1000 in a month to earn a new hostess set, now we get 3 months to do it. We can also earn Great Rewards each quarter with prizes such as accessories from the catalog and logo clothing - those also start at $1000/quarter. I do that much in sales from my Stampers club (group of 10 ladies purchasing $15 per month for 10 months). They always buy more than the minimum and I add in any outside orders plus some things for me. Some months I don't even have outside workshops, but if you want to find new customers and really do well, the home workshop is the way to go. Monthly classes in your own home are also popular with many demonstrators that don't want to do outside workshops. It's pretty easy to make the minimums with your own orders plus some stamping friends. WIth a little more effort you can take advantage of the great incentives that SU offers.
