So I have been getting color challenge suggestions using cardstock from different companies. Since SCS started out as a site for Tracy's SU downline - we've always been a little geared towards SU. And the Color Challenges have always used SU cardstock. Well.....do y'all want it to stay that way?
I've got some papertrey cardstock now....and I'm sure other people have other brands as well.
Discuss!
I have decided that due to the overwhelming response in one direction that I will continue to use SU only colors. I will try to list a main color if I use one of the In Colors. However, you are always more than welcome to use any other company's cardstock if that is what you have! Try to pick something similar and go with it! I have never been picky about that - the idea is to get you to use a combo you might not have reached for on your own. The exact colors are not the priority. (of course, try to get as close as possible to the colors listed!)
There are many people who don't have SU colors but use what's close. And even if we have SU colors we may not have them all. I STILL do not have kraft and always have to sub caramel.
I vote *HUGELY* for stickin' with SU! colors, there's no way I could keep up with Bazzill colors, and I'm really not gonna go out and buy another companies paper just for a color challenge! But, if I'm way outnumbered, I guess I can always just use my SU colors that are closest to whatever company you choose.
I think we should just stick with the SU colors and we use the closest cardstock we have. I don't have any SU cardstock and have been able to play. I sometimes need a hint on a substitution for a color but it works!

I have ZERO scrapbook stores in my general area.. I would have to drive 45 minutes to get to the HL.. I would not be able to participate if the colors went outside the SU colors... Please don't change it

I vote to stay with SU! colors- ditto the above reply. Although I do have a nice supply of Bazzill I have no idea what the color names are, etc and I would not increase my stock for color challenges- I would still use SU! in most cases.
Thanks - Diane

Have to ditto this one...have all the SU! colors and even with using some contraband--cuttlebug, bling-- my customers love seeing our paper being used ;)
I voted any company. I think I may have misread it.
I say use the SU! colors as a guide (just because most people know those colors), then use what you have that is close to that color with whatever company's paper you like.

this runs along the same lines as uploading cards to the gallery... We upload under stampin up stamp sets... can you image if they had to list all the stamp companies and stamp names.. NO WAY!!!

I voted for SU - as Jem suggested (who is Canada), we can't always get access to the same cardstock companies that you can in the States (we're in Australia). And, OMG - sorry to suggest this Emily - is there any way you could suggest possible substitutions for other company's colours so others can play? Or is there a list somewhere of comparative colours from other companies - I thought I saw that on here once. Maybe if you posted that as a STICKY at the top of the thread and anyone using non SU c/stock could still play?????? Just a suggestion!!!!!!

I think this is a good way to go -keep it simple, but allow for different cs we have available.
I vote SU colors only, as you can always substitute if you don't have that particular color. And if you have a catty handy, you always have the little examples to help you get a close match. Besides, I agree with Keri that there are 6 other challenges to use any kind of paper that works.
Ditto, I have to agree. Keep it all SU as its way too hard if not impossable for the ones of us in Australia to get hold of these other companies products.
I just got all of the new Papertrey colors and would love to see a challenge with their colors every once in awhile but other than that I would like to mainly stick with SU. I know that Nicole put color comparisons on her blog when she introduced the colors so maybe people who do not have the colors can use the SU colors that are close to it.

My vote is to keep it the same as this started out with a SU! Demo but maybe have a sticky list of colors that match pretty close for the basic cardstock. I know that the CTMH color match that I found is not updated and I try to use the colors that I have that are as close to the SU! color when I dont have the color that was part of the challenge. Just my 2 cents!
I voted SU only. I'm glad you have the *substitute* clause in there for people who like the option of using a similar color (SU or other vendor is okay for substitutions, right?). Maybe have a once a month EXTRA CC challenge for Papertrey, but then you'll probably get other people asking for a BRAZIL extra CC challenge and on and on. . . the trouble is that there are just too many beautiful papers out there to accomodate everyone's taste!!! Love them all, right!!! MEEEE too!!!

I vote SU colors. I only own SU ink. But I use Bazzill cardstock because I don't own any SU cardstock. I've gotten pretty good at matching the SU colors.

I totally agree with Jeanne on this one.

I'm a paper HOUND!!! I'd love to mix it up.......yet like always......we'll be able to use whatever we have that closely matches!! I know it's a shock......but I haven't bought out ALL the companies yet!!! ;)
When I don't have a certain SU color, I feel free to substitute another card stock or ink I have on hand. The SU colors keep it to a "finite" universe, and those who do not have the SU colors can improvise from other gallery submissions or even viewing the colors in the online catalog . . . my two cents! ;)
I think you could use SU! colors, but give papertrey substitutes. I know some of their colors are similar to SU!. Like Soft Sky and whatever their blue is. KWIM?
I have voted Any Company, as I have only ever taken part once it the colour challenge as I feel it excludes people who dont have SU products, IMHO. If you are going to keep it SU and it looks like you will would it be possible to put a brief description of the colour next to the SU named colour so that those of us who dont have SU can see if we have anything similar.

I am new to SU and am not a demo, so my supply of SU colors is pretty limited right now. But, I think it makes a lot of sense to stay with one company and let people substitute similar colors if they can! I know I wish I had more colors because I have not been able to really participate in the color challenges, but I guess I will just have to start buying more SU paper!!
