I was at an artist trading card swap today, and someone said that in addition to "inchies" being popular, that there is also some "skinny mini" or "tall and skinny" format that is gaining popularity. Anybody have any information? What are the dimensions? Any samples here on SCS?
Help! She asked me like I would know, and I would like to get back with her with some information.
Haven't seen anything about "tall and skinny" yet, but Ellen Hutson's been demonstrating "inchies" on her blog lately.
Her work is so beautiful...

I haven't heard of the "Skinny" ones but I made my first Inchie collection today after looking at Ellen's blog. If you want to take a peek, my collection is here.
Thank you! MOO's, huh? That must be the lastest size that is popular to trade. As for "inchies", there are many swaps right here on SCS, just look in the artist trading card forum for a long list.
Here is a link (and a picture) to a real beauty by Kim Anderson: This one is dozens of inchies paired together.
Ichies are often swapped in "pick a theme" (PAT) format, where the themes are named by the participants. You sort of ask for what you want people to create for you.
I've also been seeing alot about Moos too, they are about 3x1 and I think (but don't know for sure) they are inspired by microscope slide artwork, since they are the same size. I do alot of collage art this size and put them in microscope slides and solder them for pins and necklaces but haven't done any trades.
This must be a new "fad"....something different and fun to try but really, who would want to get a 1 inch "card" or whatever these things are? I just got my 3x3 SU! Love Note cards and envies and thought "Wow! Those are REALLY SMALL!!" LOL I cant imagine doing anything to send to someone else that is 1x1...
So is this just a fun, new thing (and they arent used as actual greeting cards) or am I missing the whole point of the "minis and moos" craze?
I think the moos are becoming popular in size with soldering becoming so big all of a sudden~ a lot of those moos are the vintaged styled art often seen in Sally Jean style soldered necklaces, and fit onto your microscope slides.

You can just create the inchies/Moo's/ATC's and collect or trade them by placing them in a binder, book or basket to look through for creative inspiration. Or if you want to use the "art" you can attach them to a larger greeting card, place on a scrapbook page, attach a magnetic backing and use on the fridge, place them in a frame......there are many ways further expand the inchies/Moo's/ATC's. They are addicting!

It's really fun to find images among your stamp collection that will work for these tiny cards. I actually print off greetings for the insides of mine.

Aha! Now I get it. And here I thought I was behind the times, but I was doing the slides 6 years ago! They just have a new name. Wonder where the name "moo" came from?
At the Art and Soul Retreat in October people were trading moo cards like someone would give out business cards since they have the same contact information. It was a great way to get info on new friends.

What you said, me, too. *chuckle*
I saw something in a magazine the other day about basically what has been known for years as deep thermal embossing.
But, they were calling it "thick embossing" or something like that.

You guys are such a terrible influence !! (hehe). I have been so wanting to try the inchies but put it off until NOW! I just ordered a few supplies to start a Ellen Hutson's store. Can't wait to get my goodies. Thanks for the enabling
One question. I really don't want to start buying yet another binder to store them in so tell me how you store yours. TIA
Since I collect ATCs I guess I can't say anything about the weird size. The one website listed above says they are 70mm x 28mm. That would be 2 13/16 x 1 3/8 American. There were sure some neat designs on the sites listed above that could easily be translated into a 3 x 6 card.
Concerning Moos...
Nessie mentioned 22mm x 78mm...that is 7/8 inch by 3-1/16 inch.
Moo.com says theirs are 28mm x 70mm...that is 1-1/8 inch by 2-3/4 inch.
On the etsy site that Carol listed above (in post #eight) her card cases are about 1 inch by 3 inches.
I saw somewhere else where someone took the tin (!!!!!) from a Starbucks gum pack and altered it (!!!!!) to put their Moos in.
I expect to see altered gum tins showing up in a few days, ladies! ;)
subscribing... barely have time to make the cards I *need* to send to people ~ but this is an interesting thread and I like following all of the links... and knowing what a 'moo' is.
