When starting to prepare your blog with typepad, can you work on it a bit, save it and then come back later to work on it and save it again, and then come back later and save it, etc, etc, and then when you're done 3 days later or a month later, and publish it?
Or do you have to do it all (adding your banner, pictures, get all the sidebars info in there, blog roll info input, bio info, etc) at the same time so that you can publish it? Which then, could take upwards of 2 hours or more?

I can't quite remember how I did it. I seem to remember seeing that you could make it private. So see if that works, and then you could set it to public when you are done tweaking it. Like I said, I don't know if that will work.
Have fun!
Thank you for responding!
Amber, Do people see it as you save it bit by bit? Or is this where I can make it private so others don't see it yet, as PrairieMom mentioned?
I have not started one nor purchased the monthly fee type, I wanted to know this answer before I made my decision. Thank you so much!!
Oh, I think people would be able to see it, now I see what you were asking! I'm sorry, I don't know that answer! I hope someone can answer for you, seems like a logical idea...I'm sure there is a way!
I have never used tyepad, but most blogs will have an option to have your blog remain private. You could use that option until your are ready to go live. You should also have an option whether or not you want search engines find your site.
As far as individual posts are concerned, you can type them up ahead of time, tweak them and save them. They only go live when you "publish" them. Even after you publish, you can go back and make changes.
I use typepad and only pay $4.95/month so it's bare bones. BUT, I found out that for $9.95 you can write stuff up and save it or even write it up and tell typepad when you want it to post (I think people like Beate and Debbie Olsen have a timer on their blogs - like it posts at 6am everyday, for example). That way, you can make up several days worth of blog posts but not really have to post each day, if that makes sense. The $9.95 typepad site also lets you put specialized banners on the top, whereas the $4.95 just lets you pick a color type.
Hope that helps - I have been toying with upgrading to the $9.95/month so that's why I'm familiar with the improvements.

Hello all! I'm new to the blogging world but I jumped right in with the above upgrade. I knew I wanted to make my own banner and the other above options are a nice bonus too...for what I'd spend on two lattes . So, I think it's worth if for typepad.
Just my two cents.
Have good day!

Me again...Karen I just peeked at your blog...beautiful work! I also noticed you have a link to your Longaberger store. Do you get many hits with that? I'm a consultant pretty much for the discount but an outside sale now and then helps....so just wondering.
