Default Is there such a thing as paper stiffener?

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a product that stiffens paper? I tried Googling it but didn't get any results. I've used fabric stiffener, but I don't think that would work for my ideas.

I thought it would be cool to use on those five point stars people are making, as well as some quilled snowflakes I make.

I'll be checking at my craft store today, but wondered if anyone knew of any brands to look for?

Thanks!

You could try brushing it up with gel-medium. This would stiffen it somewhat, though I do not know to what degree.

I would reach for the spray starch... you know, the can at the back of your laundry closet that you never use!;)

Interesting ideas. Thanks! I never made it to the craft store to check it out, but I'll get around to it one of these days.

I just watched a video on Renee's website. 6-pointed stars leave way less paper in your wastebasket.

Default paper stiffening

I have been asking the same questions and getting no replies that actually work on paper

I just tried modpodge this morning and altho it made a nice covering it did nothing to stiffen those stars from SU kit in the mini catalog

I hope we can find an answer- I would hate to not be able to reuse them.

Thanks
Gwen

If the item you want to stiffen is flat, why not laminate it? As far as mod podge goes, there is a new one out called Hard Coat Mod Podge that dries much harder than the original type.

Default Stars are 3-d

The front cover of the Current Stampin Up! mini holiday catalog shows the 3 dimensional stars and inside you can see the ornaments of which I am looking for stiffener for-

Why not adhere to tagboard or colored card stoc with Xyron?

Default nice idea

good idea but the designer series paper these stars are made of is 2 sided and will look better when it spins than if it had a solid or something else on it-

I am going to michaels and will ask them what they have.
thanks all for your ideas!

I've done paper ornaments that I've been able to use year after year without any kind of stiffener - you just need to pad them with tissue when you store them and not lay anything heavy on top of them (I keep the paper ones on the top layer of the ornament box).

A quick spray with an acrylic sealant keeps any dust from permanently sticking.
