Default Loss of a pet verses

Anyone have a good "loss of a pet" verse? My sister just found out she's going to have to put her long-loved cat to sleep, and she's devastated. :(

Thank you for any ideas you may have.

The *Rainbow Ridge* poem is my all time fav!
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run
and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we
remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his
legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look
once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but
never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Card front: It's no small thing to lose a special friend...
Inside: Thinking of you at this difficult time and extending heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your pet.
This can be used for any type pet.

Default Poem For Cats

Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

OMG, glad the kids are watching something, as mommy is sobbing....that is wonderful. Thank you.

This an amazing thread. I'd never heard of the Rainbow poem before now. I lost a dog 2 weeks ago and it made me sob. I'm glad I'm here by myself.

On a side note. If all my pets are waiting for me it's going to be a stampede when I get there

So this is where we part, My Friend, and you'll run on around the bend, gone from sight, but not from mind, new pleasures there you'll surely find.
I will go on, I'll find the strength, life measures quality, not its length. One long embrace before you leaveshare one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true, but they be they, and they aren't you.And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought, will remember well all you've taught.
Your place I'll hold, you will be missed, the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed. And as you journey to your final rest, take with you this...
I loved you best.

I am running out of tissue. Thank you all so much. It was only moments ago that Wiski was put down. She lived a happy, fun, and much loved 15 years.

Thank you everyone.

If tears could build a stairway
and memories a lane,
I would walk right up to
heaven and bring you home
again.

This was on a little garden stone a friend gave to us when our dog suddenly died.

omg, you are not kidding about the crying! I love that poem but with the music and photos, it's really moving.

Excuse me while I go hug my dog.

Default This is from a Wordsworth Stamp...

sunny sills
and catnip treats
light to chase
and friends to meet
soft, warm laps
and petting hands
safe with God
in cat heaven

and here is the stamp for dogs:

fluffy beds
and endless treats
gates to guard
and friends to meet
long, slow walks
and petting hands
safe with God
in dog heaven
