Stamping on plastic and ceramic?

I'm planning my almost 4 yr old's teaparty birthday. I've found small pastel ceramic cups that we're going to use and I was thinking of stamping some little flowers on them to fancy them up. I'm wondering if anyone's ever stamped on ceramic before. It's already glazed. I was thinking that Stazon would work.

I'm also thinking of getting tiny plastic flowers vases and stamping each girl's initial on it and then putting a small silk bouquet in it. Anyone have experience stamping on plastic?

Hi,
I think the stazon is your best bet for both of your projects. I've stamped on ceramic before with stazon and sharpie markers. It's hand washable if you put several coats of sealant on it, otherwise it will wear (or wash) off. I also would reccomend baking the cups in an oven ( to heat set) after stamping and before sealing. HTH!

I used polyurathane spray that my husband had. I think it's pretty easy to fine in any hardware dept. or store. It comes in high gloss, satin and matte. I used the matte finish because I didn't want extra shine. And I applied several thin coats, drying between the coats.

I just want to add that stamping on rounded surfaces -- like cups or vases can be tricky. And Stazon is definitely what I would use. Have fun ---- sounds great

I love the idea of stamping on the vases. But as an over-protective mom I'm not sure stamping and sealing the teacups with non-foodsafe products is a good idea... What if you left the cups plain but stamped little labels to tie on or little place cards?

just a word of caution. I stamped on a coffee cup with alcohol inks. Then, I washed the cup in the dishwasher and all the ink came off.

I second the idea to heat set the ink.

I couldn't find plastic vases, so I got little tiny glass ones. I tried stamping on them but found it just wouldn't work on the curved surface.

I'm also running short on time for party preparations with this being the same week as the end of the school year for us. So I finally just scrapped the idea of stamping on the cups too. I can't believe how relieved I feel! My 4 yr old is going to enjoy her tea party just as much if the cups are just plain pastel colors, so I might as well save my sanity.
