bump for the cause! Great idea, I am doing a similar project in my local town near an AFB. Have a friend whose son is currently a Navy reservist assigned with an Army unit...but there are thousands of troopers over there who would certainly appreciate the cards. Jan
Rec'd a package of cards yesterday, but forgot to grab the note with the name of who sent them on my way out the door this morning. You know who you are!! Thanks a bunch. These will be truly appreciated.
MrsAngotti, you mentioned that you wanted Christmas cards. Do you want Christian Christmas cards, secular winter/holiday cards or a mix of the two? I'm going to be working on these tomorrow and would like to know what type you would like to have.
Any holiday/Christmas cards would be greatly appreciated, however, these must be shipped overseas by the end of October in order for the soldiers to have time to get them mailed by home to loved ones. If you're thinking of starting your Christmas cards and you go through your "stash", please remember these brave men and women.
I am doing a all day event for Card Day, and wanted to include cards for soliders. The event is th 6th of October. Will that give me enough time to get them to you and you to them for christmas? If not I will not encourge christmas card, and focus on other cards.
Your doing a great thing
Thanks
Gretchen
Can't wait to get them. I have two almost full boxes ready to go to the Post office on Saturday. If yours arrive before then, I will include them at this time. Thanks sooo much for your donation.
Well, ladies ... it's a new year. If you're anything like me, I use this time of the year to PURGE. Out with the old and in with the new is what I say. I have a box of cards/cardsfronts ready to go to my friend to ship off to our brave men and women overseas. With your help, I can make it two, three, four for five boxes. The more the merrier. There are so many soldiers who enjoy having a cute little card to send home to friend and family. Won't you help in making a soldier's day????
Hi Hope,
Me and my card making buddies (6 of us in all) are going through our stash and making miss u cards. We are collecting them on Feb. 1 and I'll be sending them on to you soon after.
Thanks for what you're doing!
Blessings, Sherri
Thanks Sherry. These are so much appreciated!!! I'm meeting with a group of stampers on Saturday (that I've never met before) and I think I will work on some quick, easy, one layer ones to send off to my friend. Thanks for thinking of me!!
Thanks for the package of cards. I will be sending a box out soon and yours will be included. I didn't see an SCS name on the package to I'm thanking you here !!! Thanks!!!
Hello again everyone. I just wanted to bump this thread and thank each and every one of you who has sent cards to me for my friend. Just to upated, her hubby is safely back home on US soil, but she is continuing with her card ministry to get cards overseas to our soldiers to send back home to their loved ones. What a great cause.
With that said, I just wanted to remind you that there are many soldiers who will be away from their families this holiday season. I would love to have Christmas/winter/holiday cards for them. So, as you are working on your holiday cards in the upcoming months, or if you clean out your holiday stash from years past, please remember our soldiers who will not be spending the holidays with their family and friends and make an extra card or two.
My address is in one of the first posts on this thread. If you are interested in sending Christmas/holiday cards, please have them to me by the end of September. I will need to get them to my friend who will then get them off tot he soldiers overseas. FYI ... it takes 3 to 4 weeks for packages to get to the soldiers and then another 3 weeks for the cards to get to loved ones back home. So, if you would like to help get Christmas/Holiday cards over to our soldiers to send back home, please gather them up and send them off to me. I greatly appreciate all the cards I've gotten so far. Let's try to brighten our soldiers' holiday by giving them cards to send back home.
Thanks and blessings to all who send cards to the troops overseas. I will go through my boxes and see what I can send you.
My husband was in Kuwait/Iraq in 1990/91. I sent a box of blank cards for him and the men in his platoon. I remember how happy his grandparents were when they received a card from him at Christmas. Gramma still has that card and puts it out every year like it's a treasure. They guys in the platoon loved having cards to send.
My dh made me a handmade postcard on a piece of MRE box (meals ready to eat). He decorated it with pieces of Christmas wrap and covered the front with a thick laminate piece that they used on maps. He and his platoon all signed it with a note of thanks. That treasure I still put on the tree each year.
thanks for letting me share.
