I got a ton of PM's about the washday wheel.... since I offered it to Stampmouse first, I think it's only fair that I wait until she knows for sure her demo didn't get the order in... if she did, then I will let you know if it is still available....

wow you are so sweet I did get intouch with my demo and she has one for me thank you soooo very much
So the colors indicate how many they have left. How do we know how mnay of each wheel though. I am having my demo order me 2 jumbo wheels and hope I get them before they go to fast. She should be placing my order today for me. Hope she gets it in on time.
So I guess red means there all gone right. Yellow means there getting very low on them. green means they still have enough until dec.

The stamp sets are produced by SU, and they can make more depending on demand... the wheels are made by an outside company, so they are limited to supplies on hand only...
Stamp sets will not sell out. If you want one, it will be there... just make sure to order before the end of June...
got mine today for my 2 jumbo wheels ,thank god . Now I don't have o worry about not having them in time.Never really know what the demand is going to be. I can't wait until next stamp camp to place an order for them they might not be available.

many mittens and the party wheel were gone instantly--bummer
You would think SU would fill all the wheel orders, think of all the orders they would get. Oh well.

Stamp sets are manufactured in-house by SU! but the wheels are not, so they don't have as much control over inventory levels. There's usually a minimum order quantity that manufacturers and suppliers require, and since these items are about to retire there must have been a cutoff date for ordering more inventory.
Perhaps there were too many leftover retired wheels last year, and so they decided to put them on the stamp list with everything else this time to clear them out? Or maybe they were responding to the numerous requests in past years to name the retiring wheels along with the stamps so that folks could get the ones that coordinated with their stamp sets?

I understand about having overstock, but it's still disappointing with 8 weeks left to order from the current catalog. My demonstrator put in an order for me yesterday, and called me this morning to let me know that hollyhock and leaves & swirls were already sold out. I guess I should have jumped on the wheels as soon as the retired list was posted.... :(
-June
Those were pretty popular wheels even before they were slated for retirement, and I remember last year when one of my customers decided she wanted a retiring punch just a couple of days after June 30th I was able to find one pretty quickly from a fellow demo looking to unload hers. While you can't rely on that possibility, there may still be hope! My cousin e-mailed me to say she wanted the Sweet Feet wheel, and I have to tell her they're out of stock!

News from Stampin Up!!!!!
Retired Wheels Are Back!
May 11, 2007
Thanks to the quick response from our Stampin' Around wheel vendor, we will be able to offer all the wheels listed on the original retired list until June 30 (including those which we had already sold out of)--effective immediately.
What Happened?
These wheels were listed on the retired stamp set list by mistake. Normally, the retired wheels would have been announced on the retired accessories list (not the retired stamp set list), which will come out June 20. This gives demonstrators and customers a chance to purchase discontinued items while supplies last, while strictly limiting the time that demonstrators have to deal with the red-yellow-green while-supplies-last situation. Our mistake in publishing the wheels early meant that demonstrators would have to deal with the list for two months instead of two weeks. And, of course, because supplies are limited, demand for the wheels was accelerated, and most of the wheels sold out very quickly, meaning demonstrators have few wheels to offer during May and June.
Our Solution
Our vendors have risen to the challenge of arranging for unscheduled raw materials and production time to enable us to reorder and supply all wheels on the retired list through June 30. However, as they produce wheels to demand for the next two months, we will undoubtedly encounter situations where backorders of some wheels occur. No wheel will be on backorder for long. Our vendors are working feverishly to help us solve the problem our mistake created for you. We are grateful for their cooperation, the input we received from the Advisory Board, and for your patience as you deal with the challenges this situation has created.
