Haha. It's okay. As Hannah Montana once said, "Everybody has those days, everybody makes mistakes" Okay. (That music video was just on.. Hehe) Anyways--- I haven't made anything 'award-winning' this year. But lately, for gifts, I've been taking 5-6 (or more, depending on who it's for) cards, tying them up with a pretty ribbon, putting them in a celaphane (sp?) bag, and then putting them in a gift bag. You could even include a notebook ($3 from Target-- They include a pen, and a 'bordered' edge), wrapped in scrapbook paper, and then make the pen to match. Bookmarks are good too. Good luck, and make sure to keep us posted: )!

Ah I love that sundae so cute!! I was thinking of getting my DD teacher a gift certificate for Barnes and Noble since she loves to read so much. I have loved her for a teacher this year. She is so good to my daughter and every time I make her something she laminates it and hangs it in her room! Who wouldn't love that? I will have to make a cute card to hold the gc I think think!

I'm making a 6x6 scrapbook for my son's teacher and his parapro using photos I've taken throughout the year on field trips and at class parties. I just got started yesterday and I've made 6 pages so far.

I have used a variety of sized cans (soup and tuna are great) - covered with stamped card stock for pencil/paperclip holders along with 1/4 sheet Stationery to match. All that in a coordinating stamped white paper bag and everyone is happy - best part - son did the stamping.

As a teacher I have to say Thank You Cards are so helpful... perhaps a class set (so she can write all her thank you notes on them for the gifts she'll be getting.) I give these to the other ladies I teach with for Christmas & at the end of the year- and they love it! Because we write SOOOO many thank you cards- it's something we are sure to use! Gift cards are always nice too!;)

In past years I have done the exploding box, (with a little picture drawn by each student) the mini paper bag album (with a picture, or note from each student), and this year I am doing the mini accordian book (with a note from each student) I always include a class photo as well. Every year the teachers love them. Good Luck only 8 weeks until summer break.

I bought a bunch of tin pails at Target in the dollar section, and am planning to fill them with a couple of tumblers and some lemonade mix, a couple of gift cards (for ice cream and a book), maybe an inexpensive pair of flipflops, and some pretty silk flowers for some color, then tie on a little poem about enjoying the summer break. I did a card box filled with cards for Christmas, and got lots of complements on that one, so hopefully they'll like this one, too!

Smile Teacher gifts

I'm an Elementary teacher, I love to get card sets, stationary, post-its and decorated clips. Of course a gift card to Michaels or a book store is fabulous. But my most cherished gifts are letters that students have written telling me about the things they enjoyed or learned during the year, these are always keepers! Little kids can tell their parents who can write it in a journal or album. I also have some really touching letters from parents about things I did that made a difference for their child. My gift theory: it should be non-caloric (teachers are always trying to lose weight) and useful. Most of all we like to know we made a difference in your childs' life.

I totally agree with ranchcat. We teachers love hearing from kids how they enjoyed the school year. I keep them all in a folder to skim through when I am having a rough day!

I have letters from my students from the past 11 years of teaching. I think I cherish them the most. I also keep hand written notes partents have given me about the difference I have made in thier child's life. I keep these in my portfolio in case I ever would interview anywhere.

Note cards are an awesome idea, so is the scrapbook idea from the year!!

The sundae is really neat, but I would never eat all that candy!

A simple card with a gift certificate for a summer treat or book were always welcomed. Teachers, and I speak from 27 years of experience, are cleaning up for the year and appreciate simplicity and something that they can put in a scrapbook to remember the year. JMHO, you understand. Although, chocolate is always appreciated and won't take up space in the cupboards!!

Default Candle with a nice Teacher poem

It isn't very useful and many people perhaps don't like candles, but the poem is so nice. Any number of ways to pretty up and creatively package a simple, store bought (or home made!) candle, then add this poem to a matching stamped card:

We have always done hand-made gifts for our teachers. Last year, we decorated white memo cubes (available @ OTC) and they LOVED them! You have to know your teachers too. There are some who say they don't like food, because they're trying to lose weight like most. I work in our school, so I know our teachers and our they never turn down food! We've done candles, bath salts, plants, the memo cubes.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
At the last large meeting I attended, one of the demo's was "Cards is a Jar". She created 24 3X3 cards from 1/2 of one of the SS kits (if stretched you could create 3 jars from one kit). She designed 8 different designs using 3 of the colors of cardstock. Cut 3X6 from 12X12 papers. The cards were put in a clear glass jar (with glass lid) purchased from IKEA for $2.99 (canadian). One of the patterned papers was cut down to the size of the jar and placed inside to decorate it (no need to adhere). You could embelish the top of the jar. Including 24 envelopes is a nice touch but it increases the cost of the project.

I had several teachers as girlfriends in Mossyrock, Wa. and what surprised me was how many teachers have to spend their own money for supplies to teach the class...be it pencils, papers, and books, or supplies for a science experiment. I always thought gift certificates to places like Staples or Michaels were a great idea.... however, after reading these posts... I can see where a nice gift of handmade thank you cards would come in very handy for teachers also!! I think its WONDERFUL for the parents who remember their childrens teachers, as its a national shame that our educators do not get paid what they are worth, and then to add insult to injury, the funds are not there for them to have access to supplies they need to teach so they end up spending their own money to buy those supplies!
stampincdt... I loved your idea of a "pampering" summer gift for the teacher to enjoy! That is an AWESOME idea!

For my DD class, we are having each child decorate a page with a handwritten note, picture, etc. Then we'll get it spiral bound and decorate the front cover

I'm doing a Similar idea with my DD's class, except I'm having the kids decorate one side of a chipboard coaster and then I'll add Dp and a calendar to the otherside. One moth per child. I will also add pictures with the extra coasters. I'll put rings on the top and she can stand it up right on her desk. I also used the teacher bella for decorating the front part of the coaster.

Last year I made name frames for the teachers, put a candle that had a class picture on it and a personalized post it note holder. They all seemed to really like it.

I'm not sure how much time you have, but one thing we did for a friend who got married was to have everyone in her family and her close friends each write a letter to her telling how the met her and giving her wedding advice. We took the pages and put them into clear page protectors and placed them into a decorated notebook.

You could easily adapt this to a teacher by having each student write a letter (perhaps with help from Mom if they are young) and maybe draw her a picture or attach one of their class photos to it and put them into a notebook. This is something she could keep forever.

Maybe your Room Mother could assist you with a list of students and you could send the papers home with them with a letter explaining to the parents what you are doing.

Great ideas - last year I enlarged the class photo and cut out each child's photo attached it to a 8 x 8 page and had them decorate it, put it in a album and she has it sitting on her desk this year as well. She told me it was the nicest gift anyone had ever given her as a teacher.
The only problem is getting each one done, the kids love doing them but I had to sneak into class on days she was not in to get it done since when I sent them home they did not always come back.
