Just wanted to say hi! I am a new owner of a cricut from Brisbane Australia and I love it. Havent done much with it yet as I got it yesterday but it is awesome.Just reading up on all I need to.
i want a cricut and get the newsletter i've heard so many good things about it On QVC they have it with 2 cart. (ones i havent heard coming with it usually---print shop and one other i forget) and 7 inks for $250 can any one tell me if this is a good deal and if these would be good cartridges to start out with? Any help would be most appreciated

I dont know but usually however it is sold it comes with very usable carts, just to get you hooked and wqanting more! KWIM

Before I could answer this I would need to have an idea of what you do most scrapbooking card making etc.. I do card making and hope to do more scrapbooking in the future.
I like George which comes with the original Cricut, because of all its basic shapes, I make a lot of cards and for that reason the Mini Monograms is useful for the scalloped squares and circles. But I dont use it for much besides that, yet. I like Doodlecharms because it is versatile and covers alot of Holidays and seasonal stuff. I got Teardrop for an alternative second font because I wanted to do Upper and lower case letters. Shell would tell you Zoobaloo because of it's Versatility. I like it but I havent really had that much time to play with it yet. I does have a lot of neat features and fonts and shapes. If your limited on what you can get all at once it might be a good option.

Thedisney font is great and its chunky. Its a nice Alphabet. The charactures require alot of cutting but they turn out very nice. I don't have New Arrivals, but it is nice for baby stuff. I use my Doodle Charms baby stuff and the Animals in Animal kingdom and Zooballoo work well for little kids as well.
earlier in this thread there is a link to the Cricut web site. they have links to the cartridges and to the handbooks. I find looking throught the handbooks there quite helpful when I want to look over a cart and see all the options. Good Luck:-D
Hooray! My DH brought home a cricut for me tonight and all I've been doing is playing like crazy i see why everyone Loves the cricut! Now i need and want more cartridges now another question----i don't really want to put more $$$$ into a cricut case that holds eveything is there something else less expensive or is it worth putting the $$$ in it????

Is this a good place to post a Cricut question? I cannot get intricate cuts to work well - the blade rips my paper. I use SU cardstock. I have read so many suggestions and tried so many different dial combinations. My blade is at 5 or 6 (any shorter and it doesn't go through the paper). This morning I went and bought new blades. I called Cricut and they had me reset my machine, then set it at 1 (speed), 5 (pressure) and 5 (blade). No luck. I have read that the intricate cuts work better at larger sizes but it really bugs me to not be able to use my machine for the whole range of sizes. So, any other ideas??

The only other suggestion is use a thinner cardstock for smaller more intricate cuts. SU we have found need to have a faster speed to cut well, which doesnt work well with the samller shaped cuts. A new blad the highest speed and the deepest depth are what you need to cut SU especially intricate cuts.. You can use less depth and slower speeds with thinner cs.

Mine is already losing its tackiness, and a friend recommended I use some spray tack stuff on it, (thats what she did to hers), instead of buying a new mat. I was not so sure about that idea. I thought I would see what you all thought first before I bought anything.
So.....I played with my new Cricut last night. I used SU cardstock to cut 3 letters. The cardstock stuck to the cutting mat in a BAD way. It was peeling off in layers. Any advice? :(

Shanon I have never had that problem. But I always use the bent pointer tool to go under one edge of something I cut and then bend the plastic away from the paper. Also I just have one question"did you actually cut through all the layers of cs?" SU is a thick paper and if you dont cut at a fast speed at the deepest depth you may not actually cut throught the paperall the way. If that is the case after you cut something, and it finishes the cut hit load paper and then reapeat the cut it will cut in the exact same spot. Do not unload the paper before hitting load paper because it is next to impossible to get the cut in the same place. I hope this helps there are a few post in the thread for cutting Chipboard that describe what I am talking about. Jenn read the notes on cleaning the mats poste din earlier threads. You will ultimately need more mats. I have used the tack spray, But it all depends on what you are cutting. Their are some things I would only cut on the cricut mat. PM me if you want more info on the tack spray. I will be busy until the end of Aug but I'll get back to you then

I had read the previous posts and I did preiously try some of the cleaning and care tips. I was just curious about the *typical* lifespan of a mat and if more people used the spray tack stuff. ;)

Just a quick question, hopefully one of you can help me out. I have the TBBM cartridge and on a lot of the shapes it seems that there is a pre determined size and no matter what I do I can not get them to go smaller, specificaly I am talking about the second and thrid rows of shapes on the key pad. Any one know what I am doing wrong? I have tried using the real dial size and then setting it to 2 inch for example, but they always stay the same size really big... perfect for scrapbooking, but not so much for cards...any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Ive had my cricut for a while and i have had a lot of trial and error probs with riping and sticking and just plain messing paper up. dont get me wrong i still love it but it just takes a few more tries then i would like. my friend just bought the exp and i thought it would be a better machine but it still has the same kinks. i wish the would hurry up and come up with the usb attachment for your comp that would really open up the possibilies!!!!!

extremely helpful! i thought i didn't need the tool kit when i first bought my cricut, and my friend bought one for hers, so i bought one, too. it helps so much in removing your cutouts, very small items, and scraping off unwanted papers off the matt. i highly recommend in getting a set. the best price is at walmart. rita

Thank you! I did end up getting the toolkit from Joann's when they had it on sale. It has made a world of difference! I was beginning to regret buying my Cricut because I couldn't get anything off the mat without destroying it. Now if I could figure out a way to keep the stickiness on the mat from transferring to the mat cover sheet while I'm storing it...

Kristen I have been gone for over a week I have the cart but i am not certain which cut outs you're talking about. I'ld be glad to check it out on mine and see if mine does the same thing I have only cut out a fewof the tags and a few of the purses. Let me know I am busy this week but I'll watch for a post and get to it next week when the kids are back in school.

Just change your dial setting. Also the mat can be really sticky until it is used a bit. You might want to try using an older mat of the thinner papers. The tools also help for remving the papers from the mats. Do youhave them? I hihgly recommend them.:-D

The last time I looked at cartridge prices they were $59 now all of a sudden they are on sale for this price and reg. $89??
Did they have a huge inflation on pricing?

The only place they are reg. 59 that I have seen is Wal-mart.
even though you email Kim she has great service, and usually the best price.
JKCrafts has excellent prices also, they are an online store and also have great sales. SuperGal777 on Ebay offers excellent prices regularly, she has nothing right now.
Unless you find a good sale, Walmart and Kims Korner have the best prices read the earlier post for a like to kims korner. with shipping Wal mart might be the best bet.
SuperGal777 has listings back up again. I've not been too impressed with her communication and she has some pretty bad negatives wracked up. I just tried to deal with her about 3 separate cartridges and she just stopped communicating and the next morning, those three were no longer listed. I think she was worried because I told her I was nervous about the negatives, help me to feel comfortable or understand. That was the last I heard from her.
However, I am dealing with someone that is great. She doesn't have all of the cartridges, but because I wanted to buy 3 and the bag, I asked if she would drop her price on the three cartridges from $62 to $45. (The listing was a "buy it now" or "best offer".) Her ID is lstrickland1949. Even better, I paid for them today and they're packaged and going priority tomorrow morning.
