I was thinking about this today (while playing Bingo with my Mom at the senior citizens club -- don't ask...).
Is it to produce more stuff, better design, better technique(s), neater placements, different styles, keep my room cleaner (ha), spend less (double ha!), get published, win a contest, earn money at it, whatever??
I decided that if there was ONE thing I wanted to improve the most it would be to be better at basic design principles-- layouts, etc.
My second -- and a close second -- would be to improve my watercoloring.
What are yours???

You hit on two that are way up there for me. Also, to use more of the stamps I already have. Number one on my list is to keep it joyful, so while I'm loving growing and getting better (thanks in great part to the awesome inspiration here at SCS), I'm not going to put pressure on myself, just enjoy when I notice improvement.

I do believe you've somehow been reading my mind. With the exception of winning a contest or being published (that'll never happen for me) and making $$ with this craft (not going to happen either) those are my goals too. If I would just meet a couple of them I would feel great.
And I have a another one-- to better manage my time so that I can spend time on SCS as well as actually create a card/project that's not a CASE or even a modified version of someone else's card.
I think for me it would be better layouts and embellishment usage. I see all these wonderful cards and I try really hard to pinpoint why I like a certain card over another one. I really think for me it comes down to the "extras". When someone adds that one perfect touch, be it a brad or a button, faux stitching, another layer, whatever... it's those things I'm drawn too and I need to work on "perfecting" them in my own work.
My goal would be to spend less and produce more. And second would be to get better at coloring. Some of the artists on here really astound me with what they can do with their coloring. Pencils, watercolors, markers, whatever. There are some (many) very talented people here and I am in awe of them.
I'd say my goal is simply to enjoy a hobby. I think my design and layouts are getting better (thanks to tips on SCS), but for me it's just a relaxing way to spend time during those months when I can't be in the garden. Plus making something special for people I care about.
It's my goal to be published this year. I need to stop saying "I could do better than that" and send in my stuff. I can't do any better until I at least try. The only bummer is it means the cards I'm most excited about can't be uploaded here anymore. That was my first stop and now they just get sent off (ok so I haven't actually sent them yet but they are in a pile)

Joan this is a Good question.
I have some stamping goals... To created really good cards...and to learn New Tech's.
Good thread, Joan. For me, it is to try to come up with a unique card without casing or doing the challenges. I guess I have CASEing issues too!! I like doing the challenges when I can, since I think they should help me creatively to do a card on my own.
And my goal is to try to send in cards for publication in about 2 years time. I'm not ready yet. ;)
Something else I thought about is to meet and make New stamping Friends in my area. To be able to chit chat and exchange ideas. Get some Stamping done..and have fun!
Maybe someone could teach me to Scrapbook... I still can't do this.

Joan,
You always amaze me with your great threads!
I guess I've never really thought too much about a goal with my stamping as so much of the rest of my life is so goal-bound...but when I think about it. I realize that I would like to spend more time creating and less time thinking about it. I think I spend way too much time "thinking" about stamping rather than actually stamping. I imagine it is like anything else with practice comes improvement and that's my goal.
My main goal these days is to stop storing stuff and start using it. I get real satisfaction from seeing all these great products I have accumulated actually getting used on a card sent to brighten someone's day.
My goal for this year is to make a dent in my huge amount of supplies. I am only making baby announcements and Christmas cards. I want to do more 3D / altered gift items and spend more time scrapbooking my son's photos.
My main goal is to use everything I have purchased. My other goal is to stop buying things until I do!!! This has been my goal for a very long time. I may have set my goals too high

Jane, were you reading my mind?!?! These are my goals too! I have done an ok job recently, having given up purchases for Lent. However...I am chomping at the bit for a Bind It All...it may find it's way into my Easter basket! I think what we all need is a week where our DHs take the kids, clean the house, do laundry, etc. and we all STAMP!! Is anyone with me?!?! Should we petition Pres. Bush for this right?!?! Don't we all deserve it?!?!If anyone can get their hubby to go for this...let me know how you did it!!
Mandy I think your cards are awesome! Love your goals!
Ok, you can't just be saying nice stuff like that without a warning. I about peed my pants!!!! ;) You are so talented, and it is such an honor to have someone with such skillz say they like my cards. Thank you so much...you just made my day!

Well I have never been published... 'cept in a wholesale magazine for Hampton Arts this year... but I have also never submitted my work for publication! So I'd like to do that. For me it's a matter of getting organized and keeping better track of submission due dates and stuff. Plus I really need to create some cards exclusively for publication; cards that I don't share online or here... I need to make extra time for stamping/organizing time I guess!

Yes I do believe you are reading minds. I was just telling my sister that we need to bump it up and work on our designs, layouts, color schemes and get out of the box we seemed to be trapped in.
I think I would like to try a contest..........that will be my goal for this weekend. Gotta start somewhere
Oh, great thread. I haven't thought about goals in stamping for a while and should. Let's see....
--Stop hoarding, spend less.
--Have fun, relax, and don't get so worked up about perfection.
--Stamp. Don't think about it so much. (If I had a card or sb page for every hour I've spent hemming and hawwing over colors, embellies, LO, etc., my stash wouldn't be nearly so big! Indecision may or may not be my problem.)
--Make lots of cards for the troops.
--Send more cards to friends and family. (I'm good about b-days and such, but it's so nice to lift someone's day for no good reason!)
~I too would love to be published...
~more design team work...
~to become more comfortable using patterned paper and then to actually use my quickly growing stash!
~to be better organizied so that I can use everything I have purchased
~to learn to control myself at the dollar store and target dollar spot!
Thanks for letting us lay it out all there!!! I feel better now!!;)
Great thread Joan! My goals:
Keep learning and improving my skills
Try stuff from new companies
SHARE what little knowledge I have with those attending my classes- this is the rewarding part for me
Take a watercoloring class this year
Enjoy, have fun with this huge craft - and give joy to others
Love this thread -- it's so cool to read everyone else's goals! My goals is to participate in as many SCS challenges as I can because I found those have really helped me become a better stamper. My other goal is to have this hobby become self-supporting -- i.e. not spend more than I make as a demo (which, believe me, is not much). I also need to send out the cards I make and stop hoarding them. And my last goal os to continue to have fun and relax while stamping -- the whole reason why I fell in love with stamping to begin with.
Get more organized.
Spend less...I already have more of everything than I can use!
Hoard less - I've already improved a lot in this department but I could be better.
I am trying to stamp more. I just have too many stamps and not enough techs for them. I have found on scs that I am gonna try. so stamping with new techs is mostly my goal.
Wow, great thread and great goals. You've inspired me . . . so, here's mine:
Goals #1 - Stamp More! I think any goals I have for getting better at watercoloring, chalk, new techniques, getting published, becoming a better teacher, etc., will just resolve if I stamp more.
Blog at least 4 times a week with all the projects because, you know, with goal #1 I'm stamping more.
Get some new cabinets for my craft room so I can Stamp more.
I want to develop "my style"
I want to be happy in my "crafting skin", I love everyone else's cards and am very critical of my own
I want to be a SU demo when they come to the UK this year
I want to be more adventurous but more simple at the same time, does that make sense? Probably not.
I want more design team work
I want to be published
and most importantly of all
I want to be more organised, more organised in sending cards, more organised in making cards, more organised in RAKs. My craft room is actually very organised, it is my brain that isn't!!!
#1. To make a card everyday because it relaxes me, I thoroughly enjoy it, have fun and it gets my day off to a great start. I pretty much am accomplishing that goal since I do stamp daily early in the morning before work.
#2. I would like to be able to make cards in all different styles, with a different flair, a different look, a different feeling about it. I hate the fact that people tell me all the time, I can just take one look at your cards and know it is a Cindy card....I don't want my cards to look like Cindy cards, I want to be able to break out of my personal style, change it to a different style and then go back if I want, when I want to.
