I think what you are refering to, is that some people have been using the SU slit punch to make a scalloped border by repeatedly punching it along the edge of a layer of paper. This way you get a scalloped border around that piece! HTH! :0)

Here's an example:

the corners were trimmed with the slit punch to look concave (I think that's the word).

I posted my method last night on this forum, but to see the message you need to do a search using the words slit punch. Not sure why it isn't here as the posts usually are.

Here is a link to a thread that discussed it. There may be more, but I didn't look any further.

Is this what you are referring to?

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

If so then just cut a strip of paper, put it all the way in the slit punch. Punch. Then slide it over just barely touching the last punch...and just keep going. (I turn my punch upside down, so it's facing towards me...makes it easier to line up)

Hope that is what you were asking

Default Scallop edge with Slit Punch

How do you do this? Can you just do in on a thin strip of paper?

THanks!

Yep that is how I have done it..
It is pretty slick.. Just cut a 1 -1 1/2 wide strip of paper and punch all the way across and remove the excess. Hardest part is lining them up..
Good way to use up those scraps lying around too.

Talking Searching for Slit Punch/Scallop Instructions

First of all, I'm not trying to be lazy b/c I already searched and was DENIED the results I needed. Actually, it wasn't that harsh (lol). It just said something about a Splitcoast database error when I went searching for the instructions for using the slit punch to make scallops. Anyone have links to these directions? Preferably with pics. I had checked out instructions about a month ago and I was more confused than anything.

Thanks!

Just cut a piece of cardstock that is the length you need x 1 1/2". Start at the end with your slit punch (silver side up so you can see) with the paper pushed all the way in and punch. Move the punch over so you can see the edge of the previous punch and punch again. Keep going. I'm have no idea how to do pictures, but just try it--it's really very simple.

Thanks so much! There were so many with lengthy instructions that I found baffling. Could be pregnancy numbing the brain, too. ;)

Found another technique; here's a way to make a scalloped circle (or oval) by Stampinsilvia:
SC83 slit scallop

She has step by step instructions under her card. Hope that helps...especially if you have a circle/oval/shape cutter.

Smile slit punch techniques

I am seeing so many of your using the slit punches for decorating. I am wondering how it's done? Especially the circles. Do you make your circle first then cut around it?

Thanks,
Tam
