Default Male Teacher--need gift ideas...

DD has a male teacher (and fairly young) for 5th grade this year, and I am stumped on gift ideas for him (for Christmas). Obviously florals and cutesy stuff are out...I am at a loss trying to figure this out. I'm thinking maybe the large Nugget box with a Christmas theme, maybe even a post-it-note holder/acrylic frame thingy for his desk... He is a diehard Michigan State fan, and coaches on the JV football team. I think he is in his early 30's and is married. Don't know any other "stuff" about him. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

How about a clipboard in a football theme - coaches are always carrying those - just make sure you acrylic spray it! Pens, pencils (I hang sports items using shrink plastic off them), notepads, composition books, calendar.
I will pick my sister's brain - an elementary school librarian (and my fav stamping buddy) for suggestions for you.

Last year for the male gifts I did a thank you card set for them to give, for the males I used Lovely As A Tree

Male Cards

Here you can see the totes I put them in, Tote Bags

I have also found they loved the gum holders I made and the other various chocolate treats I have done. Nugget boxes are a huge hit!

When DD had a man in 3rd grade, I did the acrylic post it holder. When my younger DD got him this year, I did a band-aid box filled with candy when school started. Here's a link if you want to see it.

You could also just make a cute masculine (possibly sport-themed) pocket card and put a gift card in it. Who doesn't like gift cards?

I like the gift card idea. I always felt that teachers had so many "knick-knack" gifts that I would give something like homemade fudge or cookies or really nice coffee. One year I gave "movie night kits" - gift certificates to the local movie store, microwave popcorn, candy bars etc. If you can find them these are cute in a popcorn box like they have at the theater. The teachers with families really loved them. Good luck. (PS _ I'm not saying there is anything wrong with knick-knacks, but after many years of teaching and 20-30 students per year, they've got to get overwhelming!)

How about a movie tin. A gift certificate to the local movie store, microwave popcorn and some candy? That's what we gave to my nephew's teacher and she loved it.

My husband is a teacher and a coach. School supplies always win with him.

A neat gift one of his students gave him one year was a football and she wrote on it how much his class meant to her. It is one of his favorite gifts.

Gift cards work great too! Parents have given him gift cards to Office Max. Gift cards anywhere would work.

Maybe a gift card from a sporting good store in a little tub or basket with smaller sporting good gifts....new tube socks, a whistle, those ice pack things you can break open and they will get cold,......

I like the movie tub idea too....I might put something in the tubs, whatever theme you go, for his wife??? Like, oh, say chocolate something. He can enjoy them too...but I LOVE it when DH comes home with gifts from the office that I can enjoy as well. A treat for all of us!!

Maybe a date night tub for he and his wife......gift card to eat out, bottle of something to drink....sparkling for sure....candles....choc. covered cherries.....

All of the ideas above are great, too. My BIL teaches 4th grade....I should pick his brain.

Restaurant GC are always appreciated. I've given GC to Chili's, Starbuck's, Jamba Juice, etc. The teachers are always so appreciative. They can treat themselves & they don't have to find room for one more thing on their desks. The last few teachers my kids have had can barely even SEE their desks, much less put another knick-knack on them.

My kids' teachers (male and female) have always appreciated gift certificates to the local teachers' supply store - especially the younger teachers who have recently started their careers and haven't had the chance to build up a lot of resources yet.

Pssst...Gift cards fit great in the little bandaid tins! Add a little "foof" inside (or candy!) to make it stand up straight and decorate it in the theme of whatever the gift card is for (or the sports theme). Makes a very cute way to present it and still gets your stamping "out there" for public notice. ;-)

I gave my daughter's teachers gift certificates for local restaurants and they seemed to be a hit!

Well if you don't care about getting your stamping noticed...
a classroom game is always welcome (or new ball or recess equipment)
or a book to the classroom (or school library) in honor of mr x donated by the jones family

and I am fairly sure I have recommended before .. a letter of commendation to the principal /superintendant with the all important words "please add to personnel file" (those words are an extremely difficult parental request to deny)

congratulations for planning so far in advance.
