Cleaning stamps/Baby Wipe ?
I know that baby wipes can be used to clean stamps. I also know that they need to be alcohol free as well but do they need to be aloe free? Or will the aloe condition the stamps? TIA =)
I just learned recently that you could use baby wipes to clean your stamps but I didn't know they had to be alcohol & aloe free. Thanks for the information!!
Hmmm, alcohol free definitely ... the ones I have used have aloe in them, and now I am not sure!!!! It doesnt seem to have affected them, but I'm really not sure. Someone, anyone???
I know from using them that the ones with aloe DO leave a nasty film on the rubber! I don't think it hurts the rubber, but it makes the ink bead up the next time you use it! I stay away from the aloe! I find the cheaper wipes are best!
You know, I heard about using baby wipes, but when I bought just cheap Target wipes, they left fibers ALL over my stamps and I ended up having to clean them with a paper towel anyway. So now, I just use diluted Simple Green and paper towels...
i use cheap meijer wipes on mine and haven't had any fiber/lint problems, but i've heard of other people having it. probably just depends on the brand of wipe.
oh, and as to the op's question, i'm not sure about the aloe...i don't think the ones i have have it in them, but i would think they might leave a residue of some sort on the stamps.
I LOVE to use Pampers lavender scent� they smell really nice and they don�t leave lint on my stamps. I use to use Huggies, then I noticed a lot of lint showing up ~

ok, I know everyone is probably sick of this post by now, but I have 4 different kinds of baby wipes in front of me. Most say Alcohol free, some say fragarance free but none of them say aloe free. I have the cheap ones from meijer $1 cheaper ones from walmart $.88 and ones from target $1.17. So you can see that I'm not purchasing the expensive kind although I have a box of baby wipes that I use on my daughters (pampers sensitive and even those have aloe) so I'm off to find aloe free wipes (if indeed there is such a thing) LOL
Jovi - thanks for the tip about the lavender pampers wipes, I was at Target this afternoon and grabbed some...they DO smell good! My hubby is going to flip when he sees baby wipes, and will momentarily panic, I am afraid! Haven't had them around for years...And Kahlan, thanks for explaining Meijers, because I was convinced I was missing out on something great!!! I probably can't just run out and get those anyway. The pampers lavendar says no alcohol and aloe is not mentioned in the ingredients, so I think it is safe that it is aloe-free.
That's funny about your dh. I had some in my car (no kids yet) from when we went on a short vacation to San Diego. I happened to get sick in my car one day, and my friend says, "hmmmmm. I have NO idea why you have baby wipes in your car, but I'm sure glad you do."
Sil loves that I often times have them on hand for my stamping. If she'd come over with too few of her own for her son, she could use some of mine.

My 13 year old is pretty messy when eating in the car, so I am used to having those antibacterial wipes, but these will definitely make DH freak. We spent ten years trying to get pregnant in the 80's and 90's, and never did - then ended up adopting my son as an infant. So it would be a definite shock after all these years! I guess I should clue him in as to what they are for, ya think?!?
I have them in my car too - never know when you are going to need them!
I use them on my stamps during workshops and then give them a good cleaming when I get home - I rarely see a bunch of lint, but I always make sure they are alcohol and aloe free.

I still keep a travel baby wipe container in my truck, just in case the kids need them or my dog! Don’t think I'm crazy, but sometimes I have to wipe my fur baby’s bottom when he’s done with #2… I don’t want him bringing that stuff in, besides he likes the lavender scent too. :rolleyes:

Ha!!! I know EXACTLY what you mean...I have an Australian Shepard with long, thick hair and she often has the same problem! The things we do for our "babies"!! Ok, I'll stop being gross now...

I'm not so sure about this. For years I've used the baby wipes to wipe off the top of the pad when a student messed it up with a different color of ink. I've done this to several different types and brands of ink pads without any problems.
I'm in the UK and a craft tv channel told us to use Pampers as they were alcohol free, Huggies aren't and the cheap brands usually aren't, but I don't know because I don't know what is available to you, we don't have many brands over here, just Pampers, Huggies and supermarket own brand usually.
I have been using Pampers for years and they don't seem to have damaged my stamps or my ink pads and I don't use anything else except Stazon cleaner on badly stained stamps.
