Hi,
I have been looking at that funny black contraption in the SU catty. A color spritzer used with markers. How does it work? Does anyone really like it and use it a lot? I've been thinking of getting one.
(Would it make a Xmas card that looks like it has snow falling if you used a white marker?) (if they make a white marker).
It blows a puff of air across the tip of the marker so the inks splatters onto your paper. I think this was originally discontinued by the original maker, so I'm not sure who makes it now. But, it was kinda cool. I hardly ever use it.
I was going to buy it but......I figured out that I could just use a toothbrush:
Lay your image that you want speckled on a paper towel to protect your worksurface.
Take your reinker and drip a drop or two on your toothbrush.
Next brush your toothbrush along the edge of a scrap piece of cardstock, so that it splatters onto your image.
You will get little speckles of ink similar to what you get with an Air Gun!

What a great idea. I had to read this about 3 times before I understood what you were talking about but finally get it. However did you come up with that idea?

I don't think they make a white watercolor marker; if they do, I don't think it would show up on dark paper. And I don't think you'd want to use something with a pigment ink because the spritzer thing can suck a little of the color from the marker back into it and it might end up clogging the air hole.
However, a bit of craft reinker on your toothbrush and you can do what krabearkub suggested earlier. Or, I've done it with just cheap white acrylic paint - pour a little into a pallette or onto a piece of scrap paper, and dip the toothbrush into it. (Okay, it works with ANY color paint, but if you want it to look like snow...)

that's why I love this website! I would have NEVER thought of doing this!
I don't think just a bulb syringe would work - the spritzer holds the pen so the air kid of blows through or over the tip of the marker. With the bulb syringe, it would be pretty hit or miss trying to get things to line up and work.

There is no white marker, but you could use your aquapaiter filled with bleach to make white splatters on colored cardstock. Just be careful not to get any splatters on your clothes or other items that you don't want bleached. Also make sure that you pour out the bleach out of the aquapainter and rinse it after you use it, though you might want to reserve that particular aquapainter only for bleach use in the future. (I'm not sure how, but I think I read somewhere that if you leave the bleach in it will damage the auqapainter)

At our last stampers 10 our demo demo'd the spritzer tool and I ordered it that night. I cannot wait to play some more. Was a no brainer for me to order!!
