I am busy working on a wedding shower for a tomboy... no frills, lace, pink, etc. It will be quite different from any I have done before, so I'd love suggestions!
Anyway, here's what we have so far--I am using the adorable Loads of Love stamp set from Stampin' Up, and her colors are Brilliant Blue and silver with daisies (and I threw in So Saffron to match the daisies). Her other passion is sports and frankly I just refused to do a sports themed wedding shower!!!
So we have the invitations--they turned out truly adorable if I do say so myself--with the flowers in the back, the little gal sitting in the truck, and I had a moment of sheer brilliance (hey, they're few and far between, so let me have my glory, ok?) drew in a bridal veil and used Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the veil and flowers. Cute and wedding related but not too girly.
So--plans to emboss the plates, stamp the napkins, tablecloths, etc with the Loads of Love. Centerpieces will be toy trucks spraypainted B Blue and filled with daisies, maybe So Saffron gingham ribbon.
Any ideas for truck-related favors, games, prizes, etc? Oh yeah, we also are having the cake made at Walmart with a photo of the LOL truck/bride screened on top--isn't that too fun???
Anyway--anyone got any ideas? It's in about a week...

How about license plates with wedding terms on it guests have to decipher
(like
wthisrng= with this ring
or
IDOX2=I do I do
whtwding=White Wedding
GOIN2THCHPL=Going to the Chapel)
You could also make the guests do a no-look drawings. I do "no-looks" when I am in charge of games.
Everyone gets 1 sheet of paper and something to write on (like a magazine-you could use Auto mags) and a pen. Then they put the paper on the mag. and then the paper/mag rests on top of their heads. Then you give them directions and they draw it without looking. I usually do a house and add things like:
*5 windows to let the sunshine in
*a welcome mat in front of the door
*add the word welcome
*flowers in the flower boxes ( you could say 3 daisies in a flower box to match)
*sun shining from overhead
and keep adding on. The trick is that they can NOT pull the paper down to see as they go along. Then they switch papers and get "points" for drawing things in teh correct spot-like 10 points if the "Welcome" touches the welcome mat-and an extra 5 points if all the letters are legible.

Oh my gosh...that sounds like it is going to be such an adorable (but not too cutesy) wedding shower!!! That little truck is awesome!
Thank you! I hope so!
I've always loved that little truck. I'm so glad I bought it way back when it was in a mini catalog. And the accessories!!! EVERY SET should have accessories

For prizes. What about Gas Cards or Gift Certs for Oil Changes at the local oil change shops? These are not typical shower prizes, however they are something everyone will use and are theme related..

Maybe as favors you could use the air fresheners for cars in some kind of stamped card. I know I have seen some in the gallery. I think they even make some with new car smell to them or maybe something a little girly would be better.
Can't wait to see the invite!

If it were me, I would go to the dollar store and buy a couple of cheap toy pickups (the larger, not the matchbox kind) tie some curling ribbons to the bumper (might need to bust out the Dremel for that) and make little "Just Married" signs on the back. Then I'd put some cute little gifts (I always lean towards bath things, but that's just me) in the bed of the trucks.
I also love love love the liscense plate game. Here are a couple other "plates" I thought of:
24THERD (2 for the road)
HNYMNRS (Honeymooners)
1HND1HRT (One Hand, One Heart)
2GTHR4VR (Together Forever)

Oh, you guys are too funny! I love the air freshener idea. Actually I just got back from shopping and I bought air fresheners, key chains, dashboard wipes and Cars Pez dispensers as the prizes! great minds think alike : )
I took a picture of the invite and would you believe, the camera batteries quit on me before I got it from the table to the computer. Grrrr. I'll see if I can get the scanner up and running.... sorry!
