Can someone explain the difference between SU pastles and the watercolor pencils for coloring? I've used chalk for techniques but not so much for coloring images. I do like chalk for coloring primas and silk flowers. I'm not that great at coloring but am wanting to learn. Which would you recommend and why(SU brand only please).

Take a look at the Resources section (top of the site next to where you go into the Gallery). There are some great tutorials which show Watercolor crayons and and different techniques for the pastels. I used a lot of printer ink to make a resource notebook. Just love how clear the instructions are!
And at the risk of sequential posting, look at the "similar threads" at the bottom of the thread you've started. I get a kick out of how close the search engine hampsters pull things up!
I think that it depends on the look that you want. The pencils are better for coloring something in that is more detailed where you want to have specific colors in certain areas. To me, I like to explain the pastels as giving more of an impressionist coloring. You can't stay in the lines too well in smaller areas, but since you are using chalks, that is sort of expected.

One of the cool things about pastels is, if you go out of the lines, you can easily erase with the white eraser that comes in the box.
The biggest difference for me (I have and use both...) is that the pastels come in the SU colors, whereas the watercolor pencils are a bit harder to match up. HTH.
Thank you. I already have non SU chalks and like the pencils but wish they were in the colors. I like the chalk techniques. I'll have to experiment coloring with chalk.
