As Jami said...it's an addiction. Let me see if I can list my many reasons....

Friendships - I have made a lot of wonderful friendships here!!!!
Info - Whatever I want to know...someone has the answer
Challenges - biggie! I love the challenges. Haven't had much time lately and I really miss them...maybe when school starts again.
Techniques - wealth of info here
Inspiration - where else can you get such a fabulous bunch of stampers?!
Gallery - I love having a gallery and love the feedback I get.
Improvement - this is where I learned to stamp my gallery proves it.

I'm on SCS for all of the reasons above, probably. Mainly, I think, because no one in my real life understands my stamping obsession like SCS'ers do.
I don't really have anyone to stamp with, either, so VSN is like the next best thing!!

Sure enough...those are it!! I haven't started my gallery yet but will do so as soon as I can. I have every good intention of going downstairs to be creative and stamp and I find that two or three hours have passed without my realizing it...Addicted, I admit it...My name is Joanne and I'm a SCS stampin' junkie...LOL This is so great and it's so wonderful that we can all share this post with much love and humor. You all have made my day and I AM going to go down and get some stampin' done!!
Tons of :grin:s , Joanne

There are so many reasons. I love the gallery for inspiration, I keep a copy of a lot of the cards I make here. I use the demo forum for information and to find out things I may not have found other places. I love all my stamping friends.

Oh and I can't leave it out but the one reason I come back every day is for the Posse!

The most important reason keeps changing with time for me. When I first started, I was hooked on the challenges, now I like the community and getting ideas from the gallery and many others.

Well, I remember Granny Hawkins had a thread on here last year about why people would leave SCS. I found my post on that thread and I'll share it with you.

Quote:

I however will never leave this web-site. I really feel that it has filled a void in my life. I am lonely a lot. I am a SAHM and my family lives 2 hours away. The church we go to is a 1/2 hour away so I rarely see my friends from church. I write people e-mails and they never write me back because they're so busy with other things. On this site, people answer me, they care about what I think and value my stamping!! What could be better than that?!
This pretty much sums it up. I am no longer lonely because I have very dear friends here on SCS. They've been there for me in good times and bad. I've gotten much needed advice, encouragement and prayer. I love my SCS sisters!

I especially love the posse!! Giddy Up!

I love the chatting, the challenges (especially VSN and VSBN), the gallery, and of course if I EVER need a quick answer to just about ANYTHING, I know I can get it here. Plus, this site is like crack---sometimes I just can't pull myself away!!

Because SCS is a quiet heaven compared to some of the other boards out there and you're not considered a troll just because you don't have 10000+ posts.

And of course also the huge amount of inspiration and the gossip about things to come.

I come here because I can ask any question and get an answer! It could be about stamping, scraping, crafts, food, people, or whatever. Someone knows the answer. And so many of you make me smile. It might be an "aww isn't the sweet" smile, a laughing smile, and even some "what are they thinking" smile. Although I am finding that I say "on this forum I go to someone said...." a lot. I'm afraid the men in white coats are going to come and get me. Whew, good thing I have a laptop and a wireless card so I won't miss anything!

Like one of the other posters said, it changes all the time. I joined for the inspiration, then posted a few things in my gallery and got hooked on validation  , then got engrossed in the forums, where I found people who make me laugh, people who make me tut in exasperation and, occasionally, people who make me gasp in horror!

I enjoy reading different perspectives on current events, so that when people here say "Americans think...", I can put them straight and say "not all of them do, you know". And I enjoy it when a heated debate about politics turns into a silly conversation about chocolate.

I love the knowledge that I've gained from SCS - little things like knowing I can remount a stamp after microwaving it, or that Yoyo Yellow ink will remove staining from stamps, or that background stamps work best when you sit on them!

And I love the fact that, if I need to know something, I can find it out here - like the time I was stuck on an origami project and a really kind lady had her son make it for me and TAKE PICTURES to show me how he did it!

I love it because, well, I'm very nosey person  - I love getting glimpses into other people's lives.

I do it so I can have somewhat of an adult conversation. I am at home all day with a 5 year old, even though she sounds like a little grown up its not the same. I also come for the gallery, tips, resources, and to get all the dish on new stuff.

There are many reasons I love this site. I get a lot of inspiration from the gallery and I love doing the challenges each week. I also love the scrapbooking forum. I really beleive I would not have gotten as much scrapbook pages done as I have if it weren't for this site. The people on here are so nice which makes coming here even better! It eally feels good to post a card or scrapbook page and have all these wonderful people make such nice comments. it just brightens my day.

Has any one said... to avoid dishes, laundry, cleaning.......

Actually, I started out to quote some of the previous answers and realized I would have to quote nearly all of them to cover my reasons, so I will just say "what everyone else has said".

See I'mnot the only one!

I know I've learned much more than stamping from SCS. I've learned about different customs, learned about a LOT of different topics that I wouldn't have otherwise if it weren't for SCS. I've made some terrific friends. If it weren't for SCS I would have gone to the SU regionals alone and most likely stayed alone.

I could go on and on (but that's Helen's job ;) )
