Talking Show us your Craft Fair pictures!

Hey all! As I have said before I am trying to get a head start on my craft show this November so I (and many others I'm sure) would love to see pictures of your booths, set-ups, items you made at the craft show, anything like that! I know there have to be so many of you that have pictures like that but might not have uploaded....so please, DO IT NOW! Hmmm....Did that sound bossy? LOL

I want pics of your tables, the actual crafts you made, even the bags you put them in........give me something!

Also, since you're already here......what was your best seller? Cards? Ornaments? Comp Books? Share!

Thanks to all of you lovely ladies who post pictures and share thoughts!!

Default altered comp books - big seller

I don't have any pictures to share with you, but I've done the same craft fair for the past two years. Cards sold okay, but not a lot. Last year, I had made about 80 comp books - EVERY ONE of them sold. Yes, I sold them cheap, but I had bought them cheap right when school started (like now). People loved them. I do think I have one of those posted somewhere.

The big ones or the mini ones Donna? And how cheap is cheap? If you don't mind my asking?

I don't do well with cards, but I think I charge too much ($2.50). What I sell a lot of are lunch box tins with a small covered notebook, 2 cards, and an RSVP pen. I also sell a lot of comp books, address books, and pre made scrapbook pages. I don't have any pictures though, sorry! Good luck!

I would like to know about the tins too! You have to invest a little more money in the lunch boxes to begin with so I wonder how much of a profit you make without charging too much.

Ok, I went to browse for my booth pictures to upload for you... then realized I saved then on my computer at my office.
So anyway, I'm posting to this so I can find it tomorrow night, after I've forwarded the pics to my home computer, and to let you know I'll post some pics tomorrow night
BTW, cards are always my biggest sellers, along with packets of color me cards for kids and mini art pieces (like small stamped images embellished and framed)

I am sorry ladies that I haven't been on in awhile to answer your question about the price I charge for the tins. I charge only $15. The tins I was getting for $3, the notebooks are $1, the pens are 5 for $3, and then the cards I always have stuff for. I probably hsould charge more, but I love to make them. I make scrapbook tins too, but those I sell for $25-$30 dependig onthe embellishments. Sorry I took so long. I hope you still see this!

I dont have a photo but my best seller was a "Reindeer Poop" packet.
It was a clear bag filled with these little brown ball snacks that asians eat that I got at Cost-u-less in big clear tubs. There was a topper that opened like a card saying: (hummm, I gotta look it up on my other 'puter) I sold them in baskets of 10 and people bought them for office give-aways for Christmas. Could sell them individually too.

My big success was coasters...even though I had made ornaments (none sold), decorated bags (but them at Michaels on sale), cards, domino pins (Oh, the snowflake ones did all sell!), the little totes with a pen and stickem notepad - covered... I think how you decorate helps too. People are drawn to a nice set up that says "come browse"!!

I did make snowman soup and christmas fudge...got an order for 80 snowman soups!! The christmas fudge (what didn't sell, I gave away to my friends and they were happy!) but some people like to be able to pick up something "cheap" ... others like the high ticket items!!

Oops, that's Snowman POOP. The soup is usually a packet of hot chocolate mix with a little candy cane.

The snowman soup also has hershey kisses in it. So, a packet of hot choco, marshmellows, a candy cane and the kisses. Here is the poem I used!

Is wintry weather making you droop?
Here’s the perfect trick!
Add hot water to this chocolate dust,
And stir with a magic stick!
Throw in a kiss to give it flair,
And top with snowy goop.
Make a wish and take a sip...
Tah-dah! It’s Snowman Soup!

The Christmas Fudge I got from here....do a gallery search for some really cute ideas! I am the world's best copy cat!!

How much do y'all sell the decorated comp books for? They're on sale at Target and Office Depot (limit 10 at OD) for .50 right now.

And how much do you sell the card tins for?

I know the whole 2(materials x 2 or 3) thing, but I wondered what price point at which you were actually able to make sales.

Thank you guys for the snowman soup and poop Those seem like they would be good to sell to those who attend craft shows to get good deals. I think my son's teacher gave those to the kids this year at the holidays. Thanks again!

I did my first craft show last year in December at my church. I had an assortment of stamped items...cards, comp books, snowman soup, snowman poop, magnets & coaster tiles. I didn't have any one think outshine the other in sales, but then again the weekend of the show we had a snowstorm...so that had a lot to do with sales too. I would say that my biggest items were the magnets, snowman soup & poop. I had my magnets priced at $1.25 each ( I think). The snowman soup was $1.50 and the snowman poop was $1.00.

In my area, they seem to like anything under $5 and if I have something priced at $3 each or 2 for $5 it goes like hotcakes.

Last year I made photo holders out of dominoes for that price and sold almost every single one.

Heidi, your set up looks great! We all appreciate pictures to give us a better idea of how to set up! Your framed art is awesome! Where do you get your frames? I would love to make some of those but I am trying not to invest too much to start up, just in case things don't sell.

You guys are motivating me to consider doing a craft fair. I haven't made nearly enough stuff to do anything this year, but I may use this year as a building year and start next year!

Smile Very Cool...

Very cool to read all of your ideas and thoughts...

I've done some craft shows, but incorporated jewelry and little magnets along with my handmade cards. I only had a few people buy cards - $3 each (I incorporate cool scrapbooking embellishments, so they are a little more costly to make). I had little magnets I sold for $1 and the bigger flat ones for $3. Last show I sold my $3 magnets for $1, and my little ones for $0.50 (wanted to get rid of some of my stock) but really didn't see too much of a difference in the quantity people bought... hmmm...

I do wonder if people ever actually end up making things by the time you invest in display equipment and all the product supplies to have a nice variety to sell...

I agree with those who say that items under $5 sell well... people in our area don't always carry much more than $20-$40 total to a craft fair... sometimes I just think they're doing it as something to do...

Keep the ideas and thoughts coming!!!

I'm apologizing for not answering these questions sooner, I lost this thread for quite awhile. In case anyone still wants to know - here are my answers:
Question: Could you give us ideas as to what you sold things for? Like the framed artwork and the blocks?
Answer: The frames were sold for $6 and the glass blocks were $15 with lights or $10 without
Question: I love the glass blocks! ok so how did you do those?
Answer: Some have no stamping, and are just really cute napkins decoupaged onto the two flat surfaces. Some have stamped images on tissue paper decoupaged and one had a stamped image on white, matted, and centered with tissue paper in back and decoupaged. Most had holes drilled with light stuffed in, but a few were left without lights.
Question: Where do you get your frames
Answer: I also am on the lookout for cheap framed items at Big Lots, the dollar stores, goodwill etc that I can take apart and insert my own stuff into. That group of frames came from the Target dollar spot - they were originally little framed pictures of jungle animals

Again - sorry it took me so long to see these questions

There's no 'I' in 'team'. But then there's no 'I' in 'useless smug colleague', either.
And there's four in 'platitude-quoting idiot'. Go figure.
