Default LSC69 - Wedded Bliss

This is a special and specific challenge for a fellow SCSer (halloweengodess) who needs to make wedding invitations and everything that goes with it. We have until December to come up with as many ideas as possible with the following colors and images. Please read carefully!

What: wedding invitations, R.S.V.P. cards, bridal shower invites, wedding programs, thank yous (One or more of these items)

Colors: burgundy, black, white (Bonus: silver or irridescent white)

Images: lilacs (or similar size or shape flowers)

Please put LSC69 in the keyword box when uploading!

This is a real challenge, but we can do it. I'm almost out of bravo, so I've made just a thank you for now. Here's my sample...

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!

If you need help with uploading your card to the gallery or posting a link, click here!

Here is one from my gallery - I love the simplicity of it. Just another idea to add to the pile, but I will make more tomorrow!

Wedding Love

So, I went back to read again - this does not count for the challenge, but a wedding card just the same...oops

Oh my gosh, poor you! I don't blame you, I would run as well. I made 100 Thanks Yous after losing my Father-in-Law and it will be a while before I do bulk again.

Certainly sounds like a challenge, Jen. Boy, were we off in our guessing last night after we saw your sample!

Do we need to use SU stamps? I have the new blossoms abound, but also a great non-su lilac stamp. Interesting color for lilacs.

It doesn't need to be SU!

Maybe it's the wedding party colors? She could always change her flower choice later, I suppose.

I was laughing at the guesses last night.

Thanks Heather. I'm taking two classes that overlap by 30 minutes, so I probably won't get the first project finished until I get home, but hopefully, the second will be done. I'm taking a faux postage class and a distressing class. I wanted the colored pencil class as that's my favorite medium, but it was already booked full. I'm so excited!

Ok....since it doesn't necessarily have to have the liliac...I might be able to play....but first have got to get some housework done (before the crowd arrives at my house tomorrow!!!) Love these colors.....

OK, finally, here's mine. I made a thank you card - used the little lilac from the Watercolor minis. Thanks for looking.

I've been thinking.... I think that our bride needs to change the flowers--to PRIMA's. ;)

Working on mine now. Out of all of my many, many floral sets, nothing works what I'm lookin' for

Here's one. I don't have much in the way of lilacs. This is one I had started a long time ago and the pearl EP looked funky on the white and so I tossed it in the reject pile. I love it with the burgundy sponging on it. My silver EP is detail powder and was covering too much, so I had to use Pewter.
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I had thought of the watercolor minis, but hadn't made a card with it yet. I'm off for another try.

I was thinking something similar--I have silk wisteria and it would be pretty to tuck a sprig in the ribbon on the bridesmaids invitations--you couldn't do it for everyone because it would increase the postage rates.

I haven't made this yet, but here's my idea (seeing as I have no gallery, but have tons of pics, it may be ages before I post this). It's actually my idea for my own wedding program (and we're ages from that). Print out your program on 8 1/2 x 11 paper (I plan on using cream resume paper as I have a ton of it left and almost noone mails resumes snail mail anymore). This is designed for a program that reads just like a regular piece of paper.

Take a piece of 12x12 Bazzill Cardstock (mine's in Pomegrante and textured, but you can use a SU burgundy one). Cut it to 9 1/2 x 12 (so only one cut). This is the backing for your progam. Score the cardstock on the 9 1/2 inch side - score it 3/4 of an inch below the top. Then, fold down that edge. Basically, you'll have a 12 inch side and then a 8 3/4 inch side with a 3/4 inch piece of paper folded down. Slip the printed program under the 3/4 folded down piece. Attach it however you please. I tried this several ways on the miniature ones I made. I found that on my color, copper eyelets looked the best. HOWEVER, if you use eyelets, you have to make sure that they only go through the 3/4 inch folded piece and the program itself, as if they go all the way to the back, they'll be scratchy and snag on people's clothes. Since your bride wants silver and black, you can use either size of eyelets. You can also stamp the outside of the cover with liliac stamps in something simple such as versamark.

Okay, next step (hopefully these directions make sense). Once you've attached your program to your backing, you'll need to fold the program. With the program fully open and attached, it should look like a printed program with some of the backing showing on the sides and bottom and a small lip of backing on the top. Now, fold your program just like you would a letter before you put it into the envelope. However, instead of folding it so that all of the edges meet, fold it so that the third edge hits around the middle. Okay, that's clear as mud, so let me try it this way - fold the bottom up to about halfway up the page. Now, fold the top down as much as you can without having it make you refold the bottom edge. Hopefully that makes sense! I'm not the best at directions.

Okay, now you have your program folded. So, then you have to make it stay closed! I played with this option and you can do something like tie ribbon around it and put a pretty fake liliac in the bow. Or, my idea for mine is to use sealing wax. I have seen it in stores and on the web in silver (having problems finding copper though). They also have sealing wax that you use just like a glue stick in your low heat glue gun. So, squirt a blob of sealing wax where the top fold meets the rest of the paper (to keep it stuck there). Then, using either the seal of your choice or the stamp of your choice (mine is a "P" as when my BF gets off his butt, buys the ring, and marries me, that'll be my new last initial) stamp the image you want into the sealing wax. I haven't tried that step yet, so I hope it holds! My thoght is that the sealing wax holds the progam closed until the guest opens it and that it adds kind of an old world classy touch.

Hope that helps!

Oops! It shouldn't be "size of eyelets" in the first paragraph. It should be "color of eyelets."

I completely forgot about this idea too until just a few minutes ago. I bogarted it from Recollections (cool papercrafting store found in only a few states and owned by Michael's). See this link - http://www.recollectionsonline.com/i...nvitations.htm

I did the pink Wedding Cake Card with my own twist. It's my "Save the Date" card (when I get to that). They also have several other pics of cards. I started playing and actually made some for other things, but I don't think I took a picture of them. I used 12 x 12 paper (Pomegrante Bazzill paper again), cut it in half (so 6 x 12). Then folded the long sides in 3 inches each (to make a 6 x 6 square card). Then stamped (for the wedding card I did) a wedding cake in black onto white CS. Matted the white CS (cut down to a small rectangle of an unknown size with the cake in the middle) with black CS cut slightly larger. Then I cut a 12 inch piece of black ribbon with white polka dots and glued it all around the outside of the card in the middle (see the Recollections pic, as I completely cased it). Then glued the wedding cake part onto one side of the card opening (this style is called a gate card or something like that). Then on the inside, I'm still playing with it. But, one idea I did was to use the same white CS matted with black CS just like they did on the Recollections card. Then I put either primas in the bottom right hand corner of the inside of the card or a pressed dried flower (I found some that are 10 for $2.50 at the store that matched the cardstock beautifully - but I could only find one package).

Check out the recollections link. The homepage for Recollections is www.recollectionsonline.com. They have several different kinds of idea pages that are really cool. The colors on there are not what you're looking for, but the ideas can be adapted to other colors.

HTH!

I did one main image and tried a couple backgrounds (which I hope will save halloweengoddess-what is her first name?- a little time not having to try a certain stamp or ep?)

Here is white craft floral with iridescent ice ep:

Here is white craft print pattern with clear ep:

I wanted to try both with versamark too, but I ran out of time.

I don't know how to post anything yet, but I was inspired by Kittie747 to try the little fern from the watercolor minis. I actually found that it was not too hard to stamp a lilac very much like those in Blossoms Abound by using several different purples or blues and overlappping it I was very pleased with how they turned out and it wasn't difficult. Good luck with all of the wedded bliss stuff!
