I found a stamping product that normally retails for about $8.99 each, for 4.99 each--not on sale, that is just their price. So because I was going to save so much money I decided I would do it even though the shipping was $15 (the order actually showed up in a $4.05 flat ship envelope). Because I was going to buy 9 of these items I figured it would even out in the end. Well, they sent me only 2 of the items and said that they are out and not reordering any more of this item. So I paid $15 shipping on a $9.98 order. Now to be honest, their site clearly says shipping is $15 for any order up to $50, BUT I never would have ordered only 2 items at this rate. They could have e-mailed me before shipping and they could have at least let me decide. I contacted them and they said $15 shipping applies if it is one cent or $49.99. The order weighed about 6 ounces. Am I being witchy? Do I need to put my broom away, or do you think this is an unfair deal?
I dont think you are being Nit~Picky at all. No one in their right mind would pay more for shipping than what the price for the merchandise cost. I think it's unfair of the company to not contact you prior to mailing half your product. They should meet you half way at the very least!

If their policy is clearly stated on the website that if they don't have all the items in stock to ship, that they will ship based on their rates without advising you of this, then that's one thing, and you may not have any recourse. If it is NOT, then you may have grounds to press the issue with them?
Personally, I think they should have advised you first before processing the order. I would also make a point of informing them that you are a very unhappy customer, and will NOT be doing business with them again.

You paid way to much for shipping... They should have contacted you before they shipped if the item was out of stock and they weren't going to reorder...
I too think that was very wrong of them and you have every right to keep that broom out. They definitely should have contacted you and let you make the decision as to whether or not you wanted the product. I would be furious.
I don't think you're being witchy at all! That is an outrageous amount to pay for such a small order! I don't do business with companies that charge unreasonable shipping rates. It's a pet peeve of mine. There are enough companies that charge just about what it costs them or give free shipping on orders over a certain amount. Those are the companies that get my business. KTCrafts and PaperWhishes fall into those categories, and both charge reasonable prices for their merchandise and are good companies to do business with!

Not witchy at all. I think they treated you unfairly but not notifying you of limited stock. Wish I knew who, then they wouldn't get my business either.

I would let them have it, too. You paid far too much for what you got , and even if you have no recourse, you should let them know that the order will be their last. You should have been advised of the outage. That's something I never thought of in any order I've placed. I guess we could all take a lesson from it.
You're not asking the right question when you say "Am I being nit-picky." The right question is "Do I have an agreement that obligates me to pay $15 in shipping charges?"
Sounds like the answer to both questions is "NO."
You made an offer to enter into a contract for 9 items @ $4.99 each + shipping charges of $15.** You didn't offer to buy 2 items @ $4.99 each + shipping charges of $15. Unless there's something in their terms of sale that states (as JulieHRR suggested) that they will ship partial orders & charge the full shipping price, I'd ask for my money back AND dispute the charges on my credit card bill.
(**9x$4.99 is over $50, so perhaps the shipping was supposed to be more?)
No, it is under $50 even if I had the 9 items. I am going to let them know if they don't make adjustments I will let people know who they are and I won't order again.
I would also call the Better Business Bureau from where the actual comany is, and tell them your story. It might help. I like the mail fraud idea too.

I think you should tell them they suck and you told 85,000 of your closest stamping friends about their policy.
I wouldn't order from anywhere with a $15 shipping charge unless it was bricks or furniture.
That really gets under my skin!!!!! I did the same thing with La Senza and their no return on bras. I mean really I spent $75 on 2 bras one broke within a month and the other couldn't keep the girls confined unless I sew the cups together!!!!!! I wasn't asking for my $$ back, I just wanted prduct that works! Now I'm stuck wearing my nursing bra, and my youngest is 2 1/2 and been weaned for 2 years now!!!!! I've told all of my friends...AND NOW I"VE TOLD YOU!!! La Senza sucks!!!!!
Update: I did not expect to hear from them for at least a couple more days. I just got an e-mail that says they are going to pull the other 7 items from one of their stores and will ship them on Monday of next week at their expense (well, yeah, I hope so) and so I will have the whole order. They have made it right and I am satisfied. In the future I am going to add, when I order again, in the special directions box, that I wish to be contacted if there is any cancellation of items or backorder BEFORE they process. Anyway, all's well that ends well.
I agree that the company should have notified you that you would not be getting your complete order. Atleast they didn't send you each of the 9 items in separate shipments charging $15 each time :eek!!! Good luck getting this straightened out
Annabelle, glad to hear that you got this straightened out ... at least they made it right. Now your closest 85,000 stamping friends dont need to know "who" it was! That place should consider themselves lucky! LOL.
