I was thinking about ordering the "Stamp-A-Ma-Jig" but I'm not quite sure by the description how it works... also, what's everyone's feelings on it? Is it a good buy?? Thanks!!!
I have used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for several years. I actually just had a pre-buy workshop on Monday showcasing the tool. I love it. I will be honest and say that I grab this tool for almost every project that I make. It takes the guess work out of placement and it saves money!! You no longer have to throw away crooked images!! haha!
I would say go for it. Definately worth it. I don' t know how you would stamp some of the images without it - like the All-around Argyle set from SU.
My best friend!!! I can't, CAN'T live without it!!!!! It's very easy to use. It allows me to be more creative with my stamps. For example from the Computer Quips set... I used the "Hope your birthday is glitch free" stamp.... I used that for Father's Day card for my DH. Anyway what I did was using the marker to color on every word except birthday and then used a small Father's Day stamp to replace the Birthday spot. The stampin jig allows me to do that. :p
Operating this little tool is very easy - its just a few steps.
Place a corner of the plastic imaging sheet up against one of the corners of the t-square (Stampamajig).
Place your inked stamp into the corner of the Stampamajg and press down onto the imaging sheet.
Take the imaging sheet and place it over your cardstock so that the image appears wherever you want it to be.
Holding the sheet in place, put the Stampamajig back against the plastic as before.
Holding the Stampamajig in place, remove the plastic sheet and using the Stampamajig as your guide, stamp your reinked image again in the corner.
You now have a perfectly placed image!!!
A couple of tries and you'll have it down pat. The image sheet cleans off with a baby wipe or a spritz of stamp cleaner and a tissue. My advice is to NOT use black ink for stamping on the plastic sheet - this color tends to stain it. Refills of the imaging sheets can be purchased separately, if you ever need more.
I just got one and LOVE it! I didn't quite understand how to use it when it was explained to me but once I had it in my hot little hand it was very easy to figure out. I don't know why I didn't get it sooner.
I bought one a week or two ago after seeing krabearkub's tutorial and I'm definitely glad I did. A lot of images are okay a little crooked, but I always seem to mount my sentiments a little off and then I stamp them a little off and they end up looking terrible! This little tool helps a ton.
My monthly club met last night and I demo'd the SAMJ for one of the projects using THe Sheltering Tree set from the summer mini and everyone was oooing and ahhing over the results. Two of the ladies bought it and one of the ladies had gotten one a while ago from a non SU source but didn't know how to use it. She said that now she knows how to use it she will be using it a lot. Like I said in an earlier post, I don't know why I didn't get it sooner.
If you do use black ink & forget to wash it right away try Spray & Wash on it and the black ink will come off. I love my Stamp-a-ma-jig & don't know what I'd do without one.
This is my absolute favorite tool. If you are any kind of obsessive, compulsive (and I am) you need this tool.;) If you have an alphabet set that you love to use, but like to have neat straight titles this is the ticket. For a time saving tip you can stamp the imaging sheet with staz on for each letter (one in each coner) and never have to think about it again. Just keep your imaging sheets with the set and you're ready to go! You will need a few refill packages, but if you use the same set alot you'll be glad you made the investment.:-D
I can only echo the raves posted prior about the Stamp-a-ma-jig! I think is a MUST HAVE! I didn't buy it until I was about a year into stamping and I cringe when I think of how many projects a destroyed or "missed by that much" when I was stamping without it.

I absolutely LOVE mine. You can also order replacement plastic squares once the original one gets all inked up. (Mine did because I sometimes neglected to clean it up right away and it was getting hard to see what image I had just stamped on it!!) I think I paid 99 cents for three sheets. I was able to get my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig on CLEARANCE for $3 - but that was several years ago and the place I got them at now has them at full price. (But what a steal!)
I don't like "free style" stamping and using this stamp positioner really is a nice tool to have. I really like how the bottom piece has a non-skid surface.
I just bought the generic one from Joanns (40% off coupon!) and I love it so far! I did forget to wash the ink off straight away the first time...but the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser just took it right off the imaging sheet!

What a great idea Samantha!! I just bought a stampamajig yesterday & will need to pick up a few extra imaging sheets just for my alphabets. I don't use them much because I can't stamp straight--I'm sure this will be the trick!
This is DEFINITELY a MUST HAVE tool. I posted a thread a few weeks ago asking the same thing. I purchased one and I couldnt believe the ease of use. You wont be sorry. Besides, this tool is probably one of the cheapest tools you will buy...
I bought a Stamp-a-ma-jig two years ago, and I can't live without it. (Well, that's extreme, but you know what I mean.) It's especially helpful with alphabet sets. I am not always the best mounter of my letters, so it helps to see what it will look like when I stamp on the page before I commit to it. Also, I am "two-step stamping challenged," and it is very helpful there. Every stamp event I am at, I practically sell this little baby for the demonstrator. Love it!
