I just signed up for a bead pen swap. I am going to be making pens for the swap and for gifts. I want to make about 11 pens. I am making the RSVP pens with the stamped paper inside and the clear beads poured in. I went to Pennywise to order my beads and i have no idea how many i will need. The clear beads come in 5 ounces each. How many would I need to order for 11 pens. I don't want to run out and hold up the swap.

How will this work? If you have paper on the inside of the barrel, won't the beads fall behind the paper and end up hidden between the paper and ink barrel? I can't visualize how this will work?!
I am interested in trying to make some pens...where do you get the pens, and how exactly do you put them together. I'd like to do ones where the beads are on the outside. Do you use the micro beads from SU! for that? Thanks in advance for your help!
I was a little disappointed. I had some meetings with my staff this week. I sat there for three days in non-stop meetings with my lovely beaded pen and my beautiful stamped notepad and NO ONE noticed! The pen even had my name on it, so it was obvious that it was hand made. Maybe it's a little corny, but I was expecting all these compliments on my lovely work and nobody even noticed - sheesh!
aahhh.... That is so :( I'm sure that if I had been in your meetings I would have noticed.... and I would have certainly oooohed & aaaaahed over your pen & stamp pad..... Does that count????
but I covered the outside of the pen barrel with a stamped image on typing paper and used sticky tape paper on the outside layer of the stamped images I was going to bead. I made 14 RSVP pens last night and finished a 15th pen today before my 3yo got into my micro glass beads and spilled some. I probably could've done at least one more if none had spilled.
I would encourage you to try one beading the outside of the barrel. It's really not hard at all and it looks "O'so pretty" as the Queen of Pennywisearts.com would say! She sells sticky double sided tape paper as well to make your projects even easier, along with very reasonable sticky tape rolls and her customer service is par excellence!
I haven't made RSVP pens by putting beads in the barrel, but I've heard of ladies putting them in without the stamped images.

OK,
If I can make beaded pens...ANYONE can, I also agree with putting the beads on the outside, if there on the inside, your wasting your beads. Try using a already made pattern paper, then tacky it to the pen, then tacky the beads...

What a great idea for left over scraps of patterned paper! Thank you so much!
