Does anyone have the Fiskars Euro Personal Paper Trimmer or Fiskars Ultimate Craft Rotary Paper Trimmer? I haven't had much luck with the Cutterpede so I thought that I would try one of the Fiskars since I like the large Fiskars rotary cutter. I need a portable cutter to use on the go!
The Euro trimmer has the triple track and the ultimate rotary has a rotary blade. I am just trying to figure out how people like them and if one is better than the other.
If you don't use any of these, which cutters do you like? There are so many to choose from!
Not sure what the Fiskars cutters you are referring to are like, but I'd do a search for Fiskars in the forum before buying anything as there is lots on Fiskars cutters in there. I know at lot of people (me included) are unhappy with the wonky cutting of the personal paper trimmer, but I don't know if this is the same model as the one you are looking at .
I tossed my Fiskars rotary cutter... the blade kept flying off when I slid it to the top. ( I still have the full size table top rotary which works fine) I'm using the style that we have in the SU catalog now..which I happen to like a lot. I had gotten the original version of this, which Fiskars replaced because the markings didn't line up right and I could never get a straight cut . I ditched my other 12" ones because they do cut "wonky" after a while! I even had Fiskars replace the cutting rail on two of them.. I've had the cutterpede.. didn't like that one either... Oh well! I think you'll find that almost everyone has some kind of story with their cutters. I know people that love Carl.. I have heard some horror stories too. For full size work tho... the Genesis is the best one.
I like the triple track fiskars model shown in the SU catalog, I think it is the euro trimmer but I'm not positive. I like it better than the new ultimate trimmer because on the cutting mechanism there are lines in the plastic handle to use in measuring a cut. I use it to accurately do spinner cards and large window cards. I got it at Michaels and used the 40% coupon.
I have the triple track trimmer. It's the same as the one in the SU catalogue and I love it. I had the smaller grey and orange one but it was out an 1/8" at one end and Fiskars replaced it. They are very good at replacing things.

Just my 2 cents - I'm pretty sure that I have the Eurotrimmer - it has a silver face and is a really light but still full-sized trimmer (meaning you can cut the entire length of a 12x12 sheet of CS). I've never had another one to compare to, but I really really like mine! It cuts well, and I love that it has a little cut-out for a handle on the side, so it is easy to just pick up and move around. I only pull mine out when I need to cut, b/c I don't have enough table space when I'm working (creating!) to keep it out - so it works out great for me. HTH ~Maria
I just re-read the first post, and I just wanted to clarify, b/c I guess there is more than one kind of trimmer that is considered "Euro". I'm pretty sure that mine is a rotary cutter, b/c the blade is a circle. In any case, I would really recommend the one as I wrote in my last post
This is what my cutter is....as far as I know it's the "Euro Cutter" style...I like it better since Fiskars replaced it, but I still have problems from time to time with it. For darn sure it's not the operator....is it?? :shock:
I have the cutter that's in the SU catalog now, and I also have the Ultimate Rotary Cutter. I like them both, but the rotary takes more getting used to. You have to sort of "judge" where the rotary will trim (now, I use the rotary lines that have been made in the mat from use). The only design complaint that I have for the rotary cutter is that there's no place to store the score blade. Oh, one more thing, I almost always have to open the blade track to get my card stock under it. But . . . I don't have trouble with paper slipping when I use the rotary cutter.
Most of the time, I use the 12" cutter like SU is currently selling. I like it very much, it's easy to travel with and easy to use. What I don't like? The blade needs changing rather frequently, and the blade pops off the track ALL THE TIME!! Very poor design for the blade! Since most of us probably keep the blade at the top of the cutter most of the time, the wide area where the blade can come off the track should be located in the middle or anywhere EXCEPT the top of the cutter.
I have the big euro rotary trimmer & I like it better than the old rotary one, but I like the one in the SU! catty better. One of the little pieces that locked in place so you cut straight broke off so I have to make sure it's held down all the way. It's harder to get the blade arm up & out of the way but cuts better than the older one. I found mine at Costco for less than $30. I've seen them at Joann's & Michaels for as much as $65, for the same thing! Worth the $30, not worth the $65. HTH

That's how the blade carriage was designed on the old style of Fiskars trimmer that SU! no longer sells. The problem with that design was that the track that held the blade was flexible, and resulted in wobbly cuts (edges weren't straight). People complained about that for years, and finally Fiskars came out with another design for the trimmer.
o.k. so after reading all the post here.Who has the new SU trimmer the blue and silver one with all the measurments outlined on it.This is so you will know exactlly where to make you cuts for your cards and for folding measurements.on bags and boxes.
I just ordered one since I am not so good at accurate measurements.but now hopefully it will make life a little easier.
does any one have one and how do you like it.my deomonstrator thru in the the scoring blade for free.

It's someone who buys stamps they didn't normally like at first,only to see it in Split Coast Stampers gallery in a different perspective.
I have the larger Fiskar's rotary cutter. I LOVE this cutter. Especially after having used the fiskars trimmer that didn't cut straight! I get exact cuts now with the rotary. Mine has a storage spot for the alternate blades. I got it at michaels with the coupon and it was around $24 that I paid. I wish it was easier to change the blades as I never use it to score my paper because it takes too long...I use my old trimmer for that.
