Sketch Challenge 54
REMINDER: Please put
SC54 in your keywords box when you upload your card so that we can go back later and find your beautiful creation!
Master Thread
This week's sketch was inspired by a card that has been in my favorites for a very long time, almost a year in fact! Ilove the colors and the lovely details and I LOVE the layout Yvette used in her curvalicious card!
(The original card could not be found in the galleries of three members with Yvette in the username, so I linked my card for an example. Roxie - March 13, 2009 )

Any great tips on getting the layering even with the curve? Is anyone using the layering tool?
Thanks!

I just eyeballed mine, but you can take your first curve and trace it.

Great sketch! Gotta go to work, but hopefully will have time to play tonight.
So Yvette - how did you get that perfectly curved red piece on your card? After really looking at it I'm stumped! TIA.

I love this layout, I've used it many times and I was originally inspired by Yvette also. Here's an old card from my gallery that was inspired a year ago from Yvette. I'll be glad to make some new samples tonight when I get home, but this will do for now. Thanks for looking, Ann

Maybe you all know this tip, but in case someone doesn't...... To get the curves to match, I hold the 2 pieces of cardstock together and cut through the 2 layers at once, and just slide one (piece of cardstock) down to make it a little longer than the other. Ann

I am getting ready to try this. This is a goofy question but do I really need to cut 2 wavy layers? Do you think it would work if I just cut the strip and layered it on top of the other two? Thanks for the help.

A fun challenge. I wasn't going to attempt that curve freehand, so I used my CM cutting system for the first time ever.
My card got lost in the sytem, so I had to re-upload it. Here is my
cameo floral celebration
Feel free to re-comment! Those all got lost too.

nvscrapmom, yes, I think your idea would work just fine. I'm not sure that the top and bottom of the curve would match, but who cares, it's all good!

This is my first attempt at this week's challenge and I love the layout design...it was so much fun to put together. My colors are a bit odd, but I like them.

Okay I took the plunge and made my first attempt! It turned out okay, but as I am looking at all the others I figure out how to make the curve (I know-duh!) anyway here is my 1st attempt.

Now off to try one more time!

Here's Mine!!
I didn't to the little strip of CS like the sample, but I overlapped CS and made a card that way. I was scared to draw my own line...but here's what I came up with on mine:

Thank you everyone for your kind comments on my card! To get the curved layers even, layer two pieces of cardstock together and then cut them. Voila! The layers will be perfectly even!

I've seen so many cute cards using the Best of Cluck set and since Santa just brought it to me I had to use it on this challenge.
