I personally think it is rediculous not to let us see the catalogue, not allowing orders to be placed until a specific date I can understand, but geeze top secret on the catty gimmy a break!!
As one who budgets the amount for stamping purchases, it would be nice to know what is going to be available so I could set aside a few more dollars if necessary to get what I want during the time it is available.

just go to post #23. She will send you a link and you will be in on the BIG secret!!!
also there are quite a few posts in the SU mini gallery!
I liked everything in the new mini and can't wait to order in January to get all my free SAB stuff as well! I'm not pre ordering because I want some SAB stuff. If you have not seen the new mini- never fail- it's coming, and you won't be dissappointed! I'm not, anyway!

I don't think it's ridiculous. I can understand you want to see it though. But, they get to make their own rules. But, an option is to find a demonstrator in your area. She's allowed to show it to you. Stampin' Up just doesn't want it posted online before the ordering period begins. It's not a national secret.
Finally got them to work...I really love the SAB and the new mini...I bet a lot of the nay=sayers will change their minds when the samples start rolling in!
The "Pinking Hearts Border" punch for those who've seen the mini, is the same border punch that my Micheals carries that EK Success just came out with (which is the same company that makes the SU punches, Martha Stewart punches, and the Jolee jewelry punches). It's been in the store for a few weeks now. It's called the Arrow Border Edger. You can see it on EK Success's website. My Michaels has it for $14.99, but the ad that came in my paper on Friday said that all their craft punches are going to be 30% off next week. I'm pretty sure the matching corner punch in the mini is a Stampin' Up! exclusive. EK Success doesn't have any corner punches in the new flat design on their website that matches it.
I dropped because of the new IDA but am apparently still on their mailing list so I got the mini and the SAB catalog. Love the SAB options. Good stamp sets and the punch is really nice. There is a great 6x6 paper pack plus the option to get sets = to or less than (I think it was) $13.95 from the main catalog as a SAB option.
The mini was another disappointment in stamp sets. There are great designer papers. If I hadn't just got a Cricut I might want some of the new punches. There are no stamp sets in the mini that interest me at all. I'm glad they are going to offer unmounted as an option. I hope they will go back and offer the regular catalog sets that way to make them easier to stamp and to save money.

I do have a demo and she is afraid to let us see the catty, she is under the impression she is not allowed to show it to us yet.

It's demo choice whether to show the mini to their customers now or to make them wait. Some demos don't want to show it to their customers now, thinking they'll wait to order.
But, she's absolutely allowed to show it to you in person - if she thinks she can't, she may just have gotten confused.
To be honest, at this stage I will not be buying anything from the Holiday mini anyway. So, to see the 2010 catty would not curb my spending if anything it would increase it.
if you want to see more previews of the new stuff check out Sandi MacIver's blog: http://www.sandimaciver.com/
she made several projects with new items - punches, sizzlets, new DP...

Same here! I just finally looked at the holiday mini tonight and didn't want anything. Everyone here gets so excited talking about what's new coming out but you can't see it, so then I get bored with not being able to see and then forget to come back and look when the catalog finally does come out.

Has anyone tried the new punches? How do they compare to the old ones. I love the old ones and am usually disappointed with other brands.
Hi Marilyn! I know what you mean, I was very happy with the old style myself! My preorder is not here yet, but you will be happy to know that the demos who have theirs seem to like them a lot. I think it is going to be a good change in the long run, although I don't usually like change!

The new style is the same as the new EK Success ones you can find in craft stores like Michaels and AC Moore (EK makes Stampin up punches). I have several and I really like the design, much easier to punch card stock and no lever that feels like it's going to break at any second. The close and lock feature is nice for storage space but I did get one punch that refuses to stay in the locked position (there has to be one doesn't it seem? ) So far I have only used the small and medium size ones not sure how easy the large ones will be but I'm loving them so far.

I saw similar style punches at Joann's but they are made by Fiskars. Are fiskars and ek success the same company? I really want to get one with a coupon to try out.

I didn't have a problem punching them. I just posted something interesting with the scallop trim border punch on my blog. I think it makes a really cool trim!
Not a demo - grabbed a sneak peak at the Mini and SAB - they are both just the pits - sorry but anyone out there has better stuff than these -what's with SU - big disappointment for sure!
I agree with this - I really didn't like anything from the mini or the SAB catty - EXCEPT that you can now earn a punch for SAB. I will be getting that for sure, but I didn't like any of the stamps. Oh well, a little mercy for my wallet!

BUT you can get sets out of the big catty instead of just the SAB sets now! See the list in the back of the SAB brochure!
Thanks for everyone's help. I haven't seen new style punches in the store. I'll have to check it out. I'll check out the videos too. What I liked about the old SU and EK punches was that I didn't think those handles would break. I have been worried about that with other brands.
i love the SAB and new mini offerings! if you haven't checked out the links with samples yet, i encourage you to do so. i'm not crazy about every single item available, but they are just choices & everyone has different taste and there are certainly plenty of items filling up my wish list!!
i even got my husband to flip through the mini and he pointed out a couple sets i "had" to order! so sweet.
contact a demo in your area if you want to see them. many demos should have hard copies on hand, or coming soon, that they can give you. it's so fun to sit cozy by the fire and flip through it and dreaming up ways to use these new choices
I really like the SAB catty this year, and the option to choose items from the Idea Book is great! I liked the Occassions too, quite a few sets that I love. I have a few sets here now that I can't wait to get dirty! I've tried one set that I pre-ordered, and the clear mounts are WONDERFUL. I thought the Hostess sets were adorable too. There is a little something for everyone.
For those of you who'd like to see it, contact your rep or track down one close by if you don't have one already. She/he can show you a hard copy. I always hated the anticipation too!
