Okay, all of you gung-ho  cardmakers here in Utah (and surrounding states!) - - our date is set for another NORTHERN UTAH SHOEBOX SWAP!! We took a poll, and although it was close, the date ended up being MAY 19th. This will be held in Utah County this time, at the Flyin' J Truck Stop :p in Springville - - upstairs in the Timpanogas Room. We'll have plenty of space to spread out and move around. We aren't being charged for the room, but are asked that we eat at their Italian buffet ($7.99) for lunch. I'm told the food is pretty dang good!! Now, for further information on this whole event - go on over to this original thread location: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
We are trying to combine this thread. If you get lost, PM me (Tabbycatmama) or Stephanie (Stampinstephanie) and we'll try to un-confuse you!
. . . now that I've TOTALLY confused everyone!! Sorry bout that folks. I'm a little ditzy sometimes. Bear with me.
So the official date is now MAY 19th and the place we're gathering for this shoebox swap is at the Flyin J Truck Stop in Springville, Utah! (Don't worry, Stampinstefanie tells us it's a nice place!) She is the one who went to all the work of finding us a big place so we can spread out and have lots of room. Read on down through this thread, and you'll find out more. We'll post instructions on how to get there, closer to the date. It's just right off the freeway in Springville, so that should entice more people from out of town!
I'll work on getting a list together of who has already said they'll be there.
Be back later, after I re-coup from my blondness......

Ok I was told that my original message was on the wrong thread. I would love to join if you'll have me. Do you know times yet? And what exactly do we need to bring?
Ruth
You silly wabbit! "If we'll HAVE you"??? Of course we will !!! I'll explain more and try to answer some of your questions tomorrow. I just got in from Regionals at the Salt Palace, and it's late and I'm pooped out. (You wanted the plain truth, right?)
Anyway, yes! We would absolutely LOVE for you to join us!
Hey gals, here's some more info on the SHOEBOX SWAP set for May 19th.
You may ask "what exactly is a SHOEBOX SWAP?" Here's a little bit about it:
How a Shoe Box Swap works:
Everyone comes up with a card to share, and brings all the supplies for each person to make that card. Anything technique/design goes!! You can case a card off of your favorite site, or come up with your own creation.
You bring a completed sample to show, and a shoebox with ALL the supplies necessary for each person to complete one! For example, if it is an embossed card, you would supply the paper, embossing ink, embossing powder, embossing gun, EVERYTHING. Whatever you choose, you must bring everything to make it -- paper punches, ink pads, markers, eyelets with setter tool, rubber stamps, glitter, ribbon, etc.
You are welcome to use any item brand or stamp company that you like in your shoebox.
Please precut ALL the paper pieces, ribbon, etc., so that they are ready to be stamped and assembled. It is also helpful if you pre-score pieces to keep things moving along. Then, put all the paper pieces in a clear plastic sandwich baggie to keep them from getting soiled by anything else in the box. Please don't include any "extra things" (i.e., other kinds of embellishments, other stamps) in your shoebox. Doing this cuts down on the time to complete the projects since there is no "thinking" to do or choices to be made.
On the day of the event, everyone brings their shoebox along, and between gabbing, eating, etc, the boxes all get passed around and each person makes one of each project.
It is a lot of fun and everyone leaves with a bunch of new ideas, and one of each card from each person.
You will be demonstrating your project at the beginning of the swap, so that we all understand how to make it. No need to print instructions for your card, but if you want to, feel free. It's up to you.
Everyone needs to bring enough supplies for however many people are signed up to attend. (We will know that number more exactly closer to the time of our fun day!)
It's always nice to throw in some extras in case someone makes a boo-boo, or someone shows up with a friend, etc.
DOOR PRIZES:
This part is always fun too! If you want to participate, just bring something of your choice - - it doesn't have to be expensive - - maybe an inkpad, or some other kind of something which any stampaholic would like - - the choice is yours. Be inventive! We all know what appeals to us, since we are all suffer with the same "addiction"....
I figured out what card I am doing!!!! That is 1/2 the battle. Now in all my boxes IF I can find my ink pads I can put one down on paper to make sure it will work.
I have a friend who is going to let me know if she can go with me but she is a CTMH demo so I wanted to remind everyone this is NOT a SU only thing unless the rules have changed and if that is the case, I need to know.
This is not SU only! Everyone is welcome and use whatever you love to design your project. I am usign a mix of companies and products. It doesn't even have to be a card! We are equal opportunity stamp folks. I am so excited!
Missi
We now have added to the list 4 more: Ruth (Tilleydog) from Clearfield, and THREE from Springville (it will be RIGHT THERE, for them!) Shirlene, Stacy and Shelly from Springville - - - we'll just call them the THREE S's from S!!!
Great! I am so excited that the numbers are getting up there. It is soo much more fun to do with a bigger group cause you get more ideas and also get to see friends from our other gathering and meet new ones!!
wow.....I leave for a few days...and not only are people JUMPING in here and coming...but tabbycatmama got her a picture! WOW! Hope you're keeping track of numbers Julie!!
Yay!!! I'll try to go through the thread and count how many tomorrow. It's after midnight already, and I don't think I'd count very well tonight!! Goodnight everyone!
We are probably closing the sign ups about the 5th right?? That way we have 2 weeks to know how many items we need to cut and still have time to order supplies if we don't have enough for our projects??
