Copics...without a doubt. I have the copic sketch markers, and they are wonderful. There are many threads here about them too.

Default Markers

I really like the Marvy LePlume II ones. They come in sets of 12 and you can get them at Michaels, Joanns, etc. They are about $20 a set, but I use a coupon and get them cheaper. I know others prefer the Tombow ones. I guess you just have to try some of each and see what you prefer.
The have heard the Copics are really nice, but they are expensive.
Hope this helps, Brenda

I just got prismacolors yesterday and I LOVE THEM. To me, they work the same as copics, but for a LOT let moolah!

I prefer Tombow over LePlume, and copic over everything else, except for the price. Eileen

I prefer Tombow Marker too! I would love to own the copic ones. But I don't want to break the bank for them.

I personally prefer SU! or Tombow over LePlume; the quality difference is very apparent once you try both.

Prefer Copic over Prismacolor, with alcohol based; they're more expensive, but, you can refill and swap out a variety of nib styles on Copics, whereas the Prismacolor, once dry or nib worn out, you have to replace entirely.

Fine tip on Copic is even finer than the one on Prismacolor. Prismacolor is a good alcohol marker; just doesn't have as much flexibility as Copic does.

Which Copic markers are best? When I went online I saw a couple different types.

More a matter of personal preference, and your budget constraints, really.

Sketch (oval barrel) have a brush tip/chisel tip, and are compatible with the Copic Airbrush System. The brush tip is great for larger/more expansive areas.

Copic "Original" (square barrel) have a fine/chisel, and compatible with the Copic Airbrush System. The fine tip is great for small images with tiny details.

Ciao (round barrel) is a less expensive/starter type alcohol marker, akin to the Sketch, but not compatible with the Airbrush system, due to the much smaller barrel size.

All are refillable, and all can have nibs replaced or swapped out.

As a general rule, the best inks for stamping with Copic are heat-set pigment inks, for "no-feather/no-bleed" coloring.

I personally prefer Brilliance Graphite Black, but, have also had good success with fast-drying dye inks such as Palette Hybrid and Adirondack Pitch Black.

My favorite, tho, seems to be heat-set Brilliance; with the two dye inks I've mentioned above, even after heat setting, some slight feathering still occurs if I color over the lines at all. As long as pigment ink is heat set/totally dry, you should have zero feathering occur if you should happen to go over the lines with the alcohol marker tip.

HTH,
