Great idea about the word theme, Ladies! Do you think we could have a list of words each month (like the five Susanne recommended) but give everyone the option of choosing just two? I think that would make it fun because everyone could come up with something completely different from the same list AND it would be less intimidating for me .

I'm good with truly simple kits and can go either way for either a single sis or the group.

I don't understand how you are scanning with the ipad or kendal. More information please. I use Goodreads and find a lot of books by seeing what my friends are reading.

Tracie, send us the book list your librarian gave you, please. I'm looking for some new authors to read. Pat and I read a lot of the same books and you and I have read a lot of the same ones through Bookendz I think. I am reading a book a day almost since I have no mojo!!! Sometimes one lasts me two days so I need lots of new books. I told Glenn not to buy me anything for Christmas except Amazon cards to buy books with.

I have to go make some deviled eggs for a funeral dinner tomorrow at Church. Have a great day everyone.

Susanne, so happy your family is all home again.

Jessica, will look for you on Goodreads.

Thanks to all of you for the beautiful Christmas Cards.

Angela, I am interested in what you find out from Ivy about the other girls surgery. I know you want all the info you can get even though you know so much already by being a nurse.

Linda-- if you have downloaded the Goodreads app, the scan button is on the first page. Just tap it and it will take you to scan mode. Scan the bar code with your iPad camera on the back of your book and then you will see the book cover at the top of your screen. Very quick way to add books to your read list!

How about this :

1. Having 1 Secret Sister for the next round. I like to get a package each month and not all in one
2. Runtime: 3 or 4 month - Itīs up to how many will join
3. Theme: You are choosing 5 words. Each month new words. The interpretation is up to each itself. Pick a minimun of 3 words and create a card kit or a kit for an idividuel item, technique or whatever
4. Use little and just stuff out of your fundus. Just to make 1 card or project

No more-no less

I have to say that I like Susie's idea of getting away from big packages that are filled with ...stuff. I like the idea of the 4-5 words. It's different

Jessica! I had no idea that you could scan!! Love Goodreads ... are you in my friend list? Find me!!

I think this is what I was trying to say in my previous post about Back to Basics! One Secret Sister for at least 3 months, a cardkit each month, built around a theme or the 3 words concept sounds like a good time! I know I can get very wordy and too much detail, but I used to be a paralegal and learned from the attorney I worked for to say it this way, then say it again another way, and then recap it again!! LOL

Books! I love to read, but seldom take time to pick up my Kindle and also love books with real pages! If you enjoy historical type books, I am currently reading the White Princess by Philippa Gregory. I became interested in this period of history after watching the White Queen mini series and The Tudors series and The Borgias series.

Back to trying to create a few cards before fixing dinner!

Linda - I will scan the list and send to you and Pat. Anyone else who wants it, just holler.

Jessica, I tried the whole scan thing and worked like a dream. Why didn't I know that it was there. See all the important information that we share on here?

Will we all have the same 3-5 words or will we select? Like mine would be Heart, Blue, cat, friend, family or we will be more specific in ours words. Or will the words be assigned?

Tracie, as I read your words, it kinda clicked (maybe or maybe not!) but the words could be ours and replace our questionnaire (maybe??) Just a thought!

Tracie -- I agree; these ladies are an amazing source of all kinds of info!

Joanna -- I can't get Goodreads to link to my FB; it keeps telling me I'm to check my password even though I actually have the FB app open and functioning?? My user name on GR is 'Jessica' (big surprise!) and I used the same picture I do for all my online accounts, somaybe you can find me? It let me add friends from my e-mail, soi found Kathy, but I must not have e-mailed anyone else.

Each of us choose our own words--each of us design something on behalf of the others' words....(Whether we are doing this as a group/or single sisters)...So I could whip up something for you with all your words or 2 of your words...But QueenieJO may just want to use 1 of your words and design something for you...

Think of the WORDS as your wishlist--just words--and you will receive something pertaining to your words/word from your Secret Sister!

Let's say someone's word is "FLYING"--I may make them an actual altered art airplane they can hang in their craft room! While someone else might go with decorative papers of skies, girl on a swing, birds....things that fly!
Capice? Make sense?
Believe me...tell me I am nuts and diss this idea--I just whipped it out there to offer a different challenge

I do agree with QueenieJO....rather than more scrapping supplies...a challenge within the swap gives it a lil' twist--something to focus on and gets those creative juices going!!!

Instead of Boston, I ended up running errands and going to Wallyworld tonight--Tom was exhausted and didn't feel like 'shopping'...so we'll start tomorrow! {Since when is shopping exhausting???}

Wow, now I want to have "Flying" as one of my words just so I can have Susie make me an altered plane for my craft room. And speaking of the room, I finally managed to get quite a bit of it cleared out. I can actually SEE my desk. Good thing because I have one more DT card to make before the end of the year. It never ends.

Do we pick all our words, or are some picked by the group for us?

Also, are we making something this round? If we do, will we get the words of the month in advance? I am hesitant about playing if I can't have words before April. I may run out of craft time. Kits I can pre-do (if words are available beforehand).

Jess...I chose (5) because of our present group size---we could go with any number--but more than (1)...just to add more diversity to the project!

I want everybody able to "play" because y'all are like family now. I would be sad if someone wasn't here to chat with. Whatever you need to participate Heather, I think we can do. Does anyone ELSE have restrictions or reservations? I ~loathe~ doing altered items (like getting them!) I just don't have the creativity to do them. My only concern is that we HAVE to do one. Other than that ... I'm good.

Linda - Let me know if you need me to e-mail you. I certainly can. Looks like you are getting some ice down there. Brrr. Ours is coming later this afternoon.

Cleaning house today and hoping to finish up a couple more Christmas cards just to have in case.

Oh my gosh! I just stopped in to get caught up and holy moly, girls! Now, I haven't been able to read through THOROUGHLY yet, but I'm really liking the idea of simpler, less cost to mail, use 'em up and post what ya made, kinda idea and I just may have to change my mind about playing next round...that is, if you'll still have me!

Getting prepped for my family's Christmas dinner here this afternoon. Then I have to work tonight .

I'll try to check back later....enjoy your Saturday!

Or, have the same sister for x number of months, and have a monthly theme following the Basic cardkit guidelines...not big spending as outlined above!

I think I recall that some of the sisters in this swap really don't want to "make" a 3D item; want to keep it simple, but yet stay intouch and get a few images / papers that we may not otherwise have.

I'm in with whatever is decided!

Thanks for your comments about the DT I recently became part of!

Angela, you asked about Faith the originator of MFP...I truly don't know; no one mentions her on MFP.
I am liking this idea. I was in a Christmas card swap a few years back, each person sent a kit to make one or two cards (just like Vickie outlined above), and we had to make at least one card and post it. It was easy enough to do because you weren't overwhelmed with "stuff".

I remember when Faith posted here on Splitcoast as "Marky's Mom"...she was on one of the early Dirty Dozen teams, too.

OK, now I really am gonna get moving here....got lots to do today!

Boy, for someone who dropped and is now asking to be included back in again, I sure have a lot to say, don't I? Just reading over the ideas thrown out there, and putting my two cents worth on the ideas I agree with.

It's very sad, a few years back, I read a post from Faith, Markie's Mom here saying she was selling the company and giving up her blogging too I believe. She was being cyber bullied. Have no idea of the details or anything, but just think that is horrible. I see things like that on facebook a lot. People post horrible and mean stuff, that you know they would never say in person. People seem to feel shielded by the computer. Very strange things with all of this technology.

Lots of ideas for the next round. I know that I always have trouble simplifying. And I know I would be hard pressed to use each kit and post it, that's why I stopped with the across the hall swap. The altered items aren't a problem, I sort of like that kind of thing sometimes, to get me out of my comfort zone! Will have to think about next round. I may just be hanging around for the chatter! I would miss all the good talk, tips, books reviews, recipes and family stories, if I didn't keep up with everyone!

Pat, Patti and Tracie, thank you for the gorgeous Christmas cards. I'm still in the process of addressing mine! They should go out by Monday. Just got the kids photo cards from Snapfish, too. Running way behind and had a cold that slowed me down this week.

Any fun Christmas plans for the weekend?

Keeping Gregg in my thoughts and prayers (and of course you too Denise!). Hoping they can get everything taken care of soon.

Pat, your scrappy weekend sounds wonderful. Enjoy it!

Tracie, thanks for the book list, I've read a few and will definitely pick some of those to try.

Imke, I always thought I preferred a real book, but started borrowing my DH's kindle a few years back and now love it and have my own. Best part for me is when I finish one book, I can immediately pick out a new one to start even if it's at midnight. Very convient for me.

Angela, did you get a pic. of the cupcake tree? I would love to see it! Any report on the young girl who had the same surgery as Ivy? Hoping she is doing very well.

JCI to say good morning!

Patti, so glad to hear you are reconsidering! I was also in that Christmas cardkit swap you mentioned; I'm still using DP and embellies from that swap!

New coffee flavor today, Grumpy Grogg (yep, that's what it is called!); it's a blend of butterscotch, vanilla, and caramel! OMGoodness it is yummy!

Talking about altered items...I LOVE creating these types of thingies and so glad I am on a DT that challenges me to do just that! I've created things like a "treasure box" out of a cream cheese box, created bottle art from a Patron Tequilla bottle (picked that bottle up from my DD in Texas!), deco paper mache boxes, to name a few! Of course, I LOVE using TP tubes to create mini albums, ornaments, altered an altoid tin, etc. Okay, I'm on a roll and need to put the brakes on...sorry, couldn't help myself! Like Kathy mentioned, it is fun to be challenged and think outside the box, too! But I know it's not for everyone. Back to my original thought...keep it simple and keep it fun!

it is raining here this morning; I sure hope it doesn't turn to freezing rain 'cause youngest DD and I are leaving to go shopping (40 miles away) in about an hour.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!

Vickie- Great kit from Angela - enjoy ! Iīm with you: KEEP It SIMPLE AND KEEP IT FUN !!

I think card kits are perfect for that. For inspiration 5 words and if we have one sister for 3 month we can choose every month new words. In this way we get different kits.

Kathy- Maybe i try a e-book reader. I can borrow one in our library. Letīs see. If you take a break, PLEASE come here to chat in any case !

Patti- Itīs so nice to hear that you rethink about another round

Heather - We want to you're definitely here and iīm pretty sure it will works

JCI! We have Riley today. She stayed all night so her parents could Christmas shop last night. We also have rain and freezing rain. The roads are still just wet but bridges etc are slick and it is to continue all day and night.

I have a couple of batches of candy to make today and then start putting together some gift tins to give away.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Ideas sound fun. I am good with anything except altering something. I would give it a try if I had to, something simple. I have done bottles and altoid tins but I have a hard time with things like that due to my RA in my hands. My right hand is a little crippled in shape but I can hold copic markers just fine.

Tracie, when Glenn retired I cried because I knew I would never be alone again, not for an hour or a day. After he retired I was right, when I had a sick day I had the blasted TV to deal with all day long and it has never shut off except from 2:00 AM till 9:00AM. I go to bed at l0:30, shut the door and read in peace and quiet.

Patti - I am so glad you reconsidered. I get sad thinking of any of you girls leaving us. I love hearing from everyone.

Vickie - that coffee sounds scrumptious Where in the world can you buy that? I love flavored coffee as much as you do.

Kathy - I cant believe people are into cyber bullying. I guess a down side on the computer.

Linda - I laughed when I read your post. I did feel like crying all day. DH was just matter of fact about it. Guess they handle it differently.

So should we start this new swap in Feb?

Kathy -- if you are a fan of e-books, have you tried Book Bub? It's a group that sends you daily notifications of free or low fist books in whatever genre you choose. If you or any of our e-readers are interested, send me your e-mail and I'll get you into their system. Lots of great free books!

I'm still hooked on paper books, but I agree that e-books can be a sanity-saver. Last time I was sick I ran out of books -- thank goodness for downloads!

Our library also loans out books online. It's a fairly good selection, too.
