Qotd: I use to make my cards and send them out about 30 maybe. Then I stopped when I got divorced... Might pick it back up this year. I much rather make cards then buy them!!

Hi all!
I have been making my cards for several years. I make about 50. I am way behind on that and that worries me a little.
Yes, I also need to start working on my Secret Elf gift also. I have one idea, but would like to make at least two things. Better get thinking!
Have a great weekend!

Joan - it's Edgerton, MN. I saw a mutual friend in the grocery store tonight and she said she went through there yesterday.

BTW if you ever get up to Alexandria or Fergus, let me know and maybe we could meet! That stands true for anyone else from MN too.

I have great intentions every year to make cards and I just forget. I am definitely going to make them for my co workers this year. No addresses needed.

So excited that cooler weather is finally here! In the 70s and loving it!
Heading to our one remaining local scrapbook/stamp store, home to be a crafty elf for a bit, then scary movie night with a friend. Life is good

Nicole and Roxane, read your posts about how many cards you guys usually make and send out. I'm in awe. Do you make them all of one card or a variety? How long does it take you?! I think it would take me over a year to make 50 cards! LOL

Hi all! I bought some things for my Secret Elf today! Now I have to start getting creative!

When I make Christmas cards, I make 4 or 5 kinds. I would get bored out of my mind if I made them all the same. I have read on SCS about some people who make Christmas cards and make each one completely different! My brain would explode! That would be way too much thinking!

What scary movie did you watch? I love scary movies! I love October because it is cool and the leaves are changing but also because of Halloween and there are a lot of scary movies on TV. I have been watching a lot of them on TCM from the 50s and the 60s.

I usually do a variety of designs, and make 5 cards at a time, so it goes quickly

Have my candles lit and watching The Fog. It's not that scary, but only one of the few ghost movies on Netflix in Canada. I don't like violent or gory horror movies, just ghost stories and there aren't that many on Netflix right now. I wish they had some Alfred Hitchcock ones.

Went to see Carrie. It was ok....I still remember the original, which was better!
But time with my friend was great and we made it to Joanns, too.

I watched a Vincent Price movie the other night...love those old classics!

Well I am off to do some elf SS shopping today! DH is working outside and then he will be watching football ALL DAY (yup even into the night) so it's the perfect time for me to head to the big city (well not so big it's only Rochester NY lol) so I don't get annoyed with him watching football all day
QOTD~yes, I also make my own Christmas cards. I guess I've been doing it for at least 15 years. I make about 50 and send them out on time. I haven't thought of an idea yet but I've got plenty of time (at least that's what I keep telling myself)!!

all this talk about making and sending out cards is reminding me that i better get busy!
I think my list is about 30ish. I usually pick a design and make them all the same. I think this year, I am going to mix it up a little bit...

Christmas card experiment--for years and years I made about 80-100--I sent them all over the place *usually one style card-mass produced by moi! So, I started to get less and less cards back (I think the internet was the culprit/or just plain NO card senders)...then the following year I was pounded with cards...then not so much. Then, I stopped the massive mailing and just made a 25ish who sent to me (I thought this was silly-and decided to go back to massive mailings)...
I don't really know if it is a "theory" or if some people skip a year/2 years and then pound everyone with cards? Maybe it's all about the postage? I do love receiving Christmas cards so I will keep our PO in business for years to come!

Happy Monday, Ladies!

Lots of scary movie watching this past weekend. I love the kind where I have to keep my hands in front on my face and fingers barely open. But, now, I have such a hard time watching a movie as I cannot concentrate on just the movie. I am too easily distracted. My mind won't relax to let me enjoy just the movie.

And, I see some of you did some Elf shopping and began the thought process for Christmas cards.

ELF QOTD
Who is the hardest person to buy for on your list?

Update to post 180 to my secret elf.

I like the cute owls and hot air balloons. I have been pursuing quilling and zentangles. I do not have of the mini clothes pins I am seeing on a lot of cards. I do cards and anything with paper. Not a crocheted or knitter. Have a granddaughter and grandson who craft w grandma. On my list of punch wishes are the large (about 2-3 inches) maple leaf in the new style or any other leaves like that.

My school colors are red and white. I teach journalism, yearbook, newspaper and computer classes. Our mascot is a wolverine and I also scrap bulldogs.

QOTD:
The hardest person on my list to buy for at Christmas is my Dad. I hate to get him cloths, but that is really what he needs and wants. He likes to hunt and fish occasionally, but he has so much of that stuff already...

Hardest people to buy for--SIL/BIL (now they just ask for SW air line gift certificates)...can you imagine how boring that is to buy for? But they travel a lot (no kids/older)...

The hardest person to buy for is my BIL. He has few hobbies, has everything and is picky about brands. We usually end up getting him gift cards, which I hate! This year, I am determined to come up with something he'll like!

I think the hardest person to buy for is my stepdad, but DH comes in a close second. Gil (my stepdad) goes to the beach, surfs and golfs, but he just likes his used, mismatched clubs, surf boards he's had for years, and doesn't like anything "fancy". We usually end up getting him gift cards and shirts! I have a feeling the gift cards end up in a pile somewhere with all the other ones everyone must get him. It's too bad, because he's the nicest guy in the world.

DH is super picky about brands and stuff, plus he usually just buys himself whatever it is he wants, so he doesn't have a "wish list".

Doctor's appointment for me to start my day first thing.

Check out my siggie - and by no means is this a plea for you to vote for me - but more for your chance to win three May Arts spools of ribbon of your choice just for commenting about the projects and an additional entry for liking May Arts on Facebook.
