I have to agree with one of the earlier posters...

I have to agree with one of the earlier posters mentioning removing the "boogers" or small balls of gummed up adhesive at the edge of the roller. I find it helps tremendously in keeping the tape...

I don't think it is strange at all. I think, at some point, everyone has stray stamps from sets, etc. Not only that, the stamp you won't ever use may be the stamp that somebody needs to complete...
