Give it a chance before you make up your mind. The ATG can be a little tricky to load the tape into if you haven't done it before. There are lots of youtube videos to help with that.

I haven't had this problem with ATG tape. The only think I can think of is that you may not be "burnishing" the edges firmly enough for the tape to hold when you make the cards.
